The first thing to note, perhaps, is that Amy Myers is an acclaimed functional medicine physician who has treated thousands of patients (successfully, we assume) and in fact was a patient with thyroid issues herself. So she knows what she is talking about. And she does give tons of information in this book in an easy to read and encouraging manner to help you gain back your health.

Those who ever suspected they have thyroid or autoimmune conditions should definitely check out her book.

Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown for the review copy. Sorry it was so late in coming but this is my honest opinion.

I did not enjoy this book, as it contradicts itself in some instances, and actually only adds to the common "cure all" of our time - being gluten-free. I was very disappointed to read that, because I seriously doubt that every illness one can potentially have is fixed by eating no gluten. Simply not possible.

I have had a total of 12 doctors misdiagnose my thyroid before I finally found a woman doctor who right away suggested testing the thyroid.. Its often misdiagnosed in women by male doctors who tell women its in our "head". That xenophobic incompetence aside, .to have this wonderful guide was so helpful to me before my appointment with my woman doctor. Here is a definitive guide to your thyroid health .
This is a absolute guide for all having thyroid issues. It allows you to better understand your diagnosis and how to treat your body. The author has given us sensible eating and health care suggestions that work for any thyroid patient. I am very thankful to have found this book . It will be a part of my medical home library as a great reference took as well. If you follow the nutrition suggestions you will see improvement in your thyroid as well. as your overall health. Excellent reading !

An interesting read with some good information about issues with the thyroid. If you don't know your thyroid status (i.e. blood levels), you can still read this book and be better prepared to speak with your doctor and request specific tests. The book will be helpful after finding out where you stand in terms of your thyroid levels, as you will be able to better implement the supplement suggestions.
