Unfortunately, I ended up DNFing this book despite enjoying other books by her in the past and therefore will not be posting a review.

Im so sad right now. Ive given this book so much of my time and I really really REALLY wanted to love it!!! Its right up my alley. But this book just didn't work for me. I couldn't connect with any of the characters the story just felt all over the place and I just couldn't follow it. I had to reread chapters because I got so lost and it just didn't work out. I loved her House of Night series but this one just pushed me off a ledge. I felt like I was always confused and just couldn't keep anything straight.

Thank you to the publisher for letting me read this book in advance!

I really wanted to like this, I really really did! But alas, I couldn't bring myself to finishing it. Maybe I read it at the wrong time, maybe I will try again in the future, but this time around it just didn't connect with me. I really liked the idea of it, and I have so much love for the cover, but I couldn't find myself engaging with it unfortunately.

Mari is half moon and half sun. A chance encounter led to her parents meeting and starting a forbidden relationship. After they are discovered, her father is killed and her mother has to hide Mari's true identity from the rest of her clan. As she grows, Mari herself learns her own identity and that there is so much she is capable of.
The story is a bit graphic in places, not really for squeamish.
The book ends on Antreas and his lynx who are from yet another group. Maybe it will be their story next?

At first it took me awhile to get into the story. The concept of the Earth Walkers, Companions, and Skin Stealers was so intriguing to me. I have always enjoyed the House of Night series so when I saw Moon Chosen I had to read it.

I have come to find that with any of the series books by Cast it takes a little bit to latch on and connect with the main characters. By the middle of the book though I was intrigued by Dead Eye, Dove, Mari, and Nik... by the end of the book I was obsessed with them.

The intertwining of all the clans and how each clan's survival means the survival of the others was so unique to me. I am interested to see what happens as Mari and Nik continue with Rigel to survive. The epilogue though was really what had me hooked- the clan that is linked to their cats was probably the most obsessive moment I had of complete geek glee.

While it was difficult to me to enjoy this book at first, by the end I was looking forward to the sequel. I hope it won't be long! :)
