I enjoyed this second installment in the Scorpius Syndrome series. This is a series that I would recommend reading in order since the events from the previous book impacted this story. Each book in the series features a different couple but the couple from the first book played a significant role in this story. I was hooked by this story and couldn’t wait to see how things would work out for Vinnie, Raze, and the rest of the group.

Before the world fell apart, Vinnie worked as an FBI profiler and was very good at her job. So good, that some people believed that she must be psychic which got her in some trouble in the world ravaged by the bacteria. Raze feels protective of Vinnie since he rescued her but also has some less than honorable motives. Raze has his own secrets but can’t help what he feels for Vinnie. I thought that Vinnie and Raze had fantastic chemistry and their personalities were a very good match. I really enjoyed watching them figure things out.

The world-building in this book was very well done. The world is a desperate place and the group has a lot of things that they are going to have to figure out in order to survive. They need a significant amount of vitamin B to remain healthy after being infected. All resources are limited so there are threats from other groups that they must deal with sometimes closer to home than they think. There was a lot of action and excitement in the story which kept things very interesting.

Michael Pauley did a great job with the narration. I think that the voices that he uses for both the male and female characters were very well done. He is able to add just the right amount of excitement and emotion in his voice to really bring the story to life. I am certain that his narration added to my overall enjoyment of the story.

I would recommend this story to others. This book has the perfect combination of romance, action, and end of the world excitement which made this book very hard to put down. I cannot wait to read the next book in this exciting story.

I received a digital review copy of this book from Kensington Books via NetGalley and purchased a copy of the audiobook.

Shadow Falling is another epic edition to the scorpius syndrome series. Raze is one hell of a bad ass and his love for profiler Vivienne is extraordinary. Watching a bad ass fall in love was hot and stunning.

A big thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC copy. I am a bit late. oops. I did not read the first book but knew that this was a #2 going in. It reads pretty well-I got lost a few times but overall I thought it read alot like a stand alone. I am a bit tired of the constant nod to BDSM that keeps appearing in romantic novels. It is not my thing so I skimmed all those sections. I felt it had an interesting plot with lots of twists and turns and surprises. Overall really enjoyed it. I loved all the quotes.

Well written story and the characters were great. Fast paced post-apocalypse romantic suspense, and boy was it HOT!

Totally in love with this series! The post-apocolyptic world is full of danger yet this group at the Vanguard is trying to beat the odds. Liked seeing all the team members POV in this one. Raze and Vinnie are great together. The bad guys are still out there though. It looks like more secrets need to be revealed until the small group of survivors can really be safe.

Loved it!

This was a great second book in The Scorpius Syndrome series, but I think my expectations were a little high on this one. I loved book 1 so much that I couldn't wait to dive into this one, and although it was a good one it wasn't a great as the first. I like Raze a lot, and I adored Vic, but there was just something missing between them. The story line was interesting, and the action was there in spades. That being said, it was still one that I would recommend since I adore this series, and have high hopes for the next book! I can't wait for Tace and Sami.

Raze has been keeping secrets from his fellow Vanguard members. Even so, he's one of the of the most useful - being former military, he's a great fighter and can shoot to kill. Vinnie was a profiler for the FBI and a therapist in her past life before Scorpius. Sure, after being drugged and held against her will by the President, she might see hallucinations and barely be able to not speak her mind, but that doesn't mean she can't do a fine job for Vanguard.

Vinnie and Raze have a great connection right from the start, but Raze can't help but feel extremely conflicted - after all, his secrets revolve around her.

Raze and Vinnie made a good couple, balancing one another out well. I was happy how the big secret was not held until the end, creating a huge conflict throughout the entire novel; instead, it was revealed and then a plan was made. Additionally there was a secondary sub-plot going on with a faction within Vanguard, and it kept the pace going well throughout.

Shadow Falling was enjoyable, and a good addition to The Scorpius Syndrome series. I'll be checking out the next installment.

A big thank-you to NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
