I tried so very hard to finish this book, but after starting and restarting this book at least 7/8 times, it is still a DNF! The plot of it is really interesting but I have not been able to read this for whatever reasons and always end up shelving it. So, I am really sorry!
An interesting book! I greatly enjoyed this one from beginning to end. Full review coming soon on my blog.
I’m afraid I didn’t finish this book. I stopped at 26% because I couldn’t handle the way it was written and how obvious it was that it hadn’t been properly edited.
This book appears to be self-published. There’s nothing wrong with that; there are some great authors who self-publish. Take Mariana Zapata, for example. But a decent publishing house will make sure a book is checked by a copy editor and/or proofreader who will pick up on errors. I don’t just mean grammar and spelling. I mean things like picking up dangling participle s, inconsistencies in tense within a sentence or when the past perfect tense should be used instead of past tense. This may sound very nitpicking, but when it happens as much as it did in this novel it just spoiled my reading experience. I had to reread so many sentences just to figure out what the author was trying to say.
I can’t comment on the plot because I only read a quarter of the book. The premise seemed good and the device of having the letters from The Proverbial Mr Universe popping was clever. But the execution needed work. I just couldn’t get past the language and writing.
Definitely a book for young adults. Older readers will probably find the language very annoying.
