4.5 stars!
This book is delicious! It's not just the references to food, but the story itself. The irony of Avery finding her world upended multiple times in a short time period of time and finding what she needs to be happy in the long run is wonderful.
And Marcello is just scrumptious. I mean this book has humor, food, beautiful scenery, friendship, and a chance at a new love with an old one. It's a great read!
I read this book so long ago, but got behind in my blogging/reviewing life to finally post my review.
Seeing Alice Clayton as an author I was stoked and with her teaming up with Nina Bocci I knew it had to be a good combo.
This book stars with Avery finding her husband cheating and needing a fresh start, which leads her to Rome.
I love the friendship between Avery and Daisy. Their banter was great.
"I had a box shipped from Amsterdam, so keep an eye out for it, okay? In between sessions of hide the cannoli with the Italian stallion."
As Avery is in Roman she ends up running into a fling from years ago when she was going to school abroad. This fresh start turns into a second chance love story. I loved Marcello and Avery together. Even when he was mad at her their chemistry and relationship towards one another was great.
This story was cute, sexy and funny. I adored it. Fingers crossed we get more from this duo.
He worried and fussed over me like a child, wiping my tears and kissing my forehead and telling me that it was okay, that I was okay, that we were okay, and when he wrapped his hands around my face and kissed me gently, so gently, I knew that this man would be the only man kissing me for the rest of my life.
Anytime I find a book that’s set in Italy, I get excited. I hear bells and I light up because Italy is my favorite place on this earth and I love returning there through books. I’d heard good things about these authors individually, so I was also excited to read a book written by the two of them. I really liked all the characters, but I particularly liked the friendship between Avery and Daisy. It would be seriously so nice to have a best friend like Daisy, who is always there and will support you no matter what. Marcello was also super swoony and quintessentially Italian, so I was falling for him pretty quickly! I love second chance romances, and I love that Marcello and Avery fall right back into old feelings nine years after having a summer fling. It brought so much validity and depth to their love story.
Eve though the book can be called a romance, there’s more going on. This story was largely about Avery finding herself after finding her husband cheating on her with his secretary. She flew to Italy heal and to fall in love with art (again) and herself, and it was so much fun getting to see her come to terms with her life, learn from it, and move on to better things. If only we all had the chance to heal from a breakup in Italy! I loved the descriptions of the food and the scenery. I also loved the mix of funny and deep moments, not to mention super romantic moments. This book was the whole package for me, and I’m excited to read more from these authors.
This story was as bright and colorful as it's cover. The writing was so rich & vivid, I could easily place myself in this story. I was captivated. Reading this book was an adventure in and of itself!
This one was a bit mixed for me, there were parts I liked (they mainly involved Marcello), and there were parts where I was struggling to keep interest.
Roman Crazy left me with a huge case of Wanderlust! Traveling has always been a somewhat unattainable dream of mine, so I absolutely adore reading about traveling in books. This book gave me all the travel feels!!
After Avery finds her husband in a compromising position (with another woman), she decides to pack up and spend her summer in Italy with her friend. She had no idea that she would run into a man she once had a wonderful experience with... nine years earlier! Second chance romances are my jam, so this DEFINITELY had me excited!
This was a romance story at its heart, but it also surrounded the idea of finding yourself after you think you've lost it all. I loved the messages portrayed in this story, and how wonderfully these authors pulled it all together. This is definitely one that's a great summer read when you're relaxing on the beach or out in the sunshine. Add this one to your TBR's for when you're in the right mood for a sweet Italian love story.
