I loved this, I like apocalyptic novels anyway and felt like this was a really good example of the genre. Gwen was a good, if flawed, heroine.

This book definitely could have been combined with the second and been a standalone (assuming the second book is the last book). I'm not religious but I don't mind reading about religion or religious characters, however, I felt this was too much. I was not a fan of the blind Evangelistic following. It was written in a really young, simple voice, in my opinion. It was easy to read, but very surface-level, no depth really to characters or plot.

This was a great read. I thought this was an interesting dystopian book. The characters were great. I thought that the characters were likable and interesting. I just wish there was more to each character. The story was a thrilling read. I wished that it could be longer. Overall, an enjoyable read.
