Wounded Warrior, Wounded Wife is an honest depiction of the struggles and challenges that married couples and families face when an active duty service member is injured in combat. Chapters focus on specific types of injury and uses stories from wives whose warrior experienced it. Examples include amputation, traumatic brain injury, suicidal ideation, and post traumatic stress.

The author provides many resources for the reader to access for support, and assistance. This information is embedded in the wives' stories, and avoids becoming a directory of social services and other agencies.

In summary, Barbara K. McNally has written an interesting and informative book showing that caregivers, and severely injured warriors can survive and thrive.
