This book hit close to home as a midwest woman. The writing was poignant and clear and it kept me entertained. It has been years since I closed the pages of this book and I can still remember the impact that it left upon me.
Memoir of growing up by Powderhorn Park in the early to mid 90s. Former South High student. Frustrating to read at times but hits close to home and reminds me how little I often know about what's happening in students' lives.
I felt frustrated while reading it and couldn't get to the page 100th. The author's talented maybe the book wasn't for me, that all.
I love how honestly Caligiuri wrote about the actions that led him to his incarceration. It made this memoir powerful without feeling like he was preaching to the readers.
"This Is Where I Am is a great read! A story of childhood hopes and dreams gone awry. Memories from the author's neighborhood, the same neighborhood his father grew up where eventually once-safe streets plummeted to the harsh realities of poverty and crime.
Zeke Caligiuri’s own account of where he began and where he ended up...how a boy who had every desire and wish...went from dreaming of freedom to losing it.
