Underneath My Bed by Brian P Cleary is a wonderful book.This book is a book of list poems. The book begins by explaining what exactly a list poem is, and encourages the reader to write his or her own. It contains a number of list poems that kids can identify with. Simple things such as, what a group of kids do on and off the bus, the ties their teacher has, descriptions and things that identify the neighbours and of course a poem on snot. Lots of fun while also teaching a type of poetry. I absolutely loved the illustrations. They are fun, colourful, vivid and alive with action. This is a wonderful book for school and class libraries. It would also be a great one for family libraries and could be used to develop vocabulary in young children as well.
