For a really nice story with lots of romance and mystery.
Elliot McKenzie is rebuilding his life. His business career tanked when he was mixed up in some scandal and he almost went to prison but life is ok now. Elliott has an new and growing business and life looks good except for the fact that someone is stalking him.
Lennox West is also rebuilding his life. The former US ranger is haunted by the death of his men due to friendly fire. He feels the responsibility for the tragedy is his and the trauma has left him with nightmares. He needs to try and rebuild his relationship with his daughter. At least he has a new job and it is this new job that leads him to Elliot.
Lennox's sister in law talks him into giving Elliott some security advice and as one thing leads to another the two men get to know each other and Lennox decides to help Elliott find out who is stalking him. It helps that the two of them are both rebuilding their lives and that they really attracted to each other.
As they dodge stalkers, get to know family and friends and get to know each other the two men recognise that they have feelings for each other. As they draw close to each other Lennox does his best to discover who the stalker is but it is when the two men work together that all is revealed.
This is a nice story to read. Both Lennox and Elliot have been bruised and hurt by the past but both men recognise the possibility of light at the end of the tunnel. They also recognise the strong attraction between them. The mystery in the story is ok,
not gripping and rather predictable but it does act as a good background for the romance between the two men.
It it an enjoyable story with a nice cast of characters. Not really thrilling but a really nice read.

I truly enjoyed Friendly Fire. The book was well blended in both suspense and romance. I liked the authors style of writing. The events that brought Elliott and Lennox together were tragic but I never got the sense of doom while reading.
Elliott knew he made mistakes in life and now he’s trying to make amends. My initial assessment of Elliott was cocky but likeable. But the more you read you see that there is more to him. He truly believes in second chances and atonement. He had a great sense of himself . He wastes no time getting to knew Lennox. A little harmless flirting leads to so much more.
Lennox is more headstrong but he’s a product of his career. He was a sergeant and had to make difficult decisions that have caused him grief. He’s been to Hell and back. He’s trying to get on with his life and family. I thought his relationship with his family was smartly written. While he might not have been a great husband, he was turning out to pretty good dad to his daughter Lee. It’s taken him a bit to get there but I liked reading about this father / daughter dynamic. Lee character help bring normal to the group.
Elliott and Lennox come from different backgrounds but manage to work well together to find whose trying to harm Elliott. Their relationship grew from lust to friendship then a stronger bond quickly.
This author is new to me but I will be seeking her books out.
