Definitely a good book for teenagers. The layout would defiantly appeal to them but if you are older you feel like you shouldn't be looking at it lol
But the recipes look good, could have done without the hair accessories bit but as I said it would appeal to a teenager.
Botanical Beauty is a book filled with recipes for making spa and beauty products at home. There are tons of full color images and the instructions are easy to follow. My favorite recipes so far are the foot repair stick, secret solid perfume, sweet dreams cream, bathing beauty melts, and the shimmer hair gel. I look forward to trying everything in this book.
Thank you so much Netgalley for the advance reader's copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
There are some cool beauty recipes that I would like to try to make. This book would be great for teens.
This is very colorful book that teen and pre-teen girls will enjoy! Making your own cleansers and powders, soaps and makeup, fantastic!! It shows people of all ages that it can be that simple and it can be fun! Awesome work!
Can't wait to try some of the recipes - especially for making natural insect repellant. Recipes seem clear and concise.
Creative, natural, simple... (5 stars)
Though quite geared toward teens, I found Botanical Beauty to be a fantastic resource for anyone who would like to start making their own spa goodies. Mostly simple to make and with ingredients that most of us have around the house already or that can easily be sourced on Amazon these recipes are sure to be a hit with anyone who likes to be pampered.
Planning a spa birthday party for a group of tweens? This book has perfect projects for making and taking home. Want to create personalized gifts for the holidays? Even guys can enjoy many of these. Sick of Pinterest fails when you try to make natural body products? Then you need these tried and tested recipes with great tips and tricks.
I very much recommend this one!
A great place to begin when creating your own natural beauty products.
Full of colourful and appealing images, it's fun to just flip through and enjoy. Aubre's writing style is clear, friendly and encouraging.
The recipes have simple and easy-to-follow instructions, and generally use readily available ingredients so you can get stuck in straightaway. A few recipes do require more expensive or unusual ingredients that you'd need to source at health-food shops or online.
There's a wide variety of products to make, from bath bombs to foot scrubs to face masks, so there's plenty to choose from - and the recipes don't create huge quantities so there shouldn't be much wasted, if any.
The DIY craft items and gift ideas definitely came across as being aimed at a younger audience but they were still interesting to take a look at.
Overall, an easy to use and fun book with plenty of recipes and ideas to get you started with making natural beauty products at home!
This book is awesome! There is a great variety of recipes in each chapter, from soaks, scrubs, and balms to perfume, shaving cream, face masks, deodorant, and so much more. Every recipe is accompanied by a beautiful photo and clear, thorough instructions. I tested out a dozen of the recipes to see how they would hold up and they all came out beautifully. This book is a fun book that crafty teens and tweens will love. I recommend this book for ages 13 and up, or for ages 9-12 under adult supervision.
My daughter and I loved this book! We worked our way through many of the recipes and had a blast. My daughter and I have sensitive skin and we are always looking for some new beauty things to try. We loved the bath bombs and the shaving cream was divine!
the book has some very good ideas which I am keen on trying.
i loved this book!
it was so simple and quick that it blew my mind!
I really don't like putting a lot of chemicals on my face, but i love fresh and sweet smelling beauty products. this book was just perfect. I love making my own beauty stuff, but often the recepies i find are a bit complicated. this book though, has a handfull of simple yet great recepies you can totally make on your own at home. they also turned out really good and effective products. i also love the fact that every page is colorfull and with a lot of nice images in it, so that you also get some ideas on how to make nice bottles for your beauty creations! love it
A good resource for people interested in DIY, especially DIY cosmetics. Though readers should use caution as the wrong ingredient might cause you to break out into hives. Also, where in the world do you buy beeswax pastilles? Do the bees know this is where their wax is going?
This is not a book that I typically review, but when I saw it on NetGalley, I couldn’t resist checking it out for all of those awesome DIY spa recipes! Botanical Beauty has a multitude of great recipes and ideas to make your own bath bombs, lotions and many other beauty products. This book is gorgeous and contains very simple instructions and tips. The only criticism that I have is the fact that some of the required items, such as essential oils are quite expensive.
If you are like me, bath bombs and salts have become a frequent purchase that can really add up. For gift giving, they are my favourite go-to items. Since I have had a copy of this book since before the holidays, I was able to create a few of the recipes for friends as gifts. Not only did I have fun, these gifts were just a little bit more special, as they were handmade.
Many of the ingredients are most likely already in your cupboard, making many of the recipes super easy to put together. The tub teas are a mix of sea salt, oatmeal and essential oil. They are not only easy to make, they are customizable, as you can choose the scent that you would like. I have had lots of great feedback as well and I can honestly say that they are soothing and skin softening.
While there are quite a few bath products and gifts that can be made with just a few ingredients from your kitchen, some of the more elaborate recipes will require a trip to a natural food store. Items such as coconut oil, shea butter and essential oils are needed to create the lotions and lip balms. I found that a few of these products were a bit more pricey than I expected, so I suggest that you shop for deals or investigate the cost of the necessary items ahead of time. It is definitely worth the cost up front if you do intend on making a large quantity of certain recipes.
If you are looking to try your hand at creating some of your beauty products, I highly suggest checking out Botanical Beauty. This book is jam-packed with recipes that are easy to follow and the images are also quite stunning. I have been whipping up quite a few of the tub teas and while I love shopping for those expensive bath products, these recipes are fun and definitely well-received gifts!
This is a lovely book - really well laid out, easy to read and the pictures are clear and attractive. The instructions are simple and the ingredients needed are listed and there are photographs to show you what you need too. Everything is natural - something which I personally find quite important - and the recipes are easily do-able quickly. I will be uploading a full blog post with a review of the book and also pictures of some recipes being made. Thank you for the chance to review this!
Botanical Beauty features 80 easy to make recipes for natural bath, beauty, and spa products. The recipe directions are easy to follow and the ingredients are easy to find, most you will already have in your kitchen. To make the recipes, no special equipment is required and the ingredients are budget friendly. The book has recipes for everyday bath and beauty products for hands and feet, body, face, and hair using simple, natural ingredients. You will find recipes for scrubs, soaks, sprays, creams, perfume, deodorant, face masks, lotion bars, toner, lip balm, face wash, toothpaste, mouthwash, hair products, and more. The book also features some DIY craft projects for hair wraps, headbands, nail art, eye pillows, sachets, and more. The book also has tips on storing the finished products, cleaning up, and giving your homemade products as gifts. With all the toxic and chemical ingredients in most beauty products, making your own natural ones is great idea. The only problem that I had with this book was that vegan alternatives were not included for the non-vegan ingredients. Candelilla Wax can be substituted for beeswax and Agave Nectar can be substituted for honey. I recommend this book for people looking into making their own natural beauty products.
Botanical Beauty is a collection of 80 natural recipes for beauty/spa products. I have to say, as a graphic designer, I loved the layout of the book and the photography. Even my teen girls happened to see me looking through the book and they immediately were engaged just because of the freshness to the layout. So for that, I give it a great big thumbs up. As for the recipes, I didn't find them overly exciting as I've made quite a bit of my own natural beauty products from blogs I've read and these seemed pretty basic. However, it is all in one place, easily referenced and candy for the eyes while you're making the recipe.
Would I buy this? Not for myself as I have most of these recipes in one for or another, but for a tween, teen or adult who's interested in this kind of thing but also a beginner? Absolutely! The recipes are straight-forward, fairly easy to make and truly work.
Everyone wants to be beauty. But the chemical based beauty products are harmful . we must follow the natural way. This book provides many natural beauty recipes........
