This was just an alright read for me. It's not that the book wasn't good. It's actually sweet, well-written, and at times funny, but it just fell a little bit short and predictable for me. It seemed to be an overused trope.
This was one of the best romance reads I did last year! It was sweet, fun, heartbraking and encouraging at the same time.
The story is about daring to open your heart again after heartbreak, either because of a bad breakup or a grave loss. Sam is a player and doesn't hide, but has no need for more than the casual fling, that is until he meets Haley. She fascinates him in a way on one else has and he realizes he might finally be ready for the real deal. But his past pictures him as a bad choice for Haley, since she doesn't want anything to do with a player, having been badly hurt recently. So even though the attraction is there, she is reluctant to give in. It is up to Sam to show her that a leopard can, in fact, change it's spots and he does this in the most creative ways!
A great book. Sam needed a couole knocks to the head, but his family helped him find his way. Haley was a great heroine, and the story was really good.
What You Do to Me was a very fun read with enjoyable characters and a romance I couldn't help but root for.
Sam Haney works as a handyman in his family's construction business and has quite the reputation with the ladies. Haley Cooper is a paralegal and is in the process of renovating her home after her fiancé left her. Haley's mother hires Sam to help with the renovations and with the hopes that Sam will inspire Haley to get back into the dating world.
Sam and Haley were wonderful together and I loved watching them navigate a potential relationship. Haley initially believes Sam is nothing more than a lothario and it was great getting to watch her find all these other sides to him. Sam doesn't do relationships, but with Haley he finds a connection and I enjoyed seeing him come to terms with his feelings for her. The chemistry between the characters is incredible and I loved the way their friendship and relationship developed.
One of my favorite parts of this book was the relationship Sam had with his family. Most of his family is connected in one way or another to the construction company, so they were always popping up in the story. Sam's interactions with his siblings, Wyatt and Josey, were some of my favorites. The three of them are incredibly close and it was touching to see how concerned they were about each other. I also liked when Haley got to interact with the siblings and felt they all meshed very well together.
Overall, I very much enjoyed What You Do to Me and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good, quick romance read.
I just couldn't get into this book and felt that I couldn't give it a honest review as I didn't finish the book.
