Every Dark Corner is the third installment in Karen Rose’s Cincinnati romantic suspense series

FBI agent Decker has just come out of coma and with agent Kate is desperate to help lives of kids that are in danger. The antagonist is The Professor who sells drugs to kids and also exploits them to make pornographic movies. There are a lot of dead bodies and a whole team racing against time to save the victims.

I would strongly recommend reading this series in order as there are a lot characters from the other books which are all interconnected. The subject matter is dark and difficult to read but Karen Rose does a great job telling the story from different POV’s even the Professors. The romance felt a little rushed even though the book is 600 some pages long. It’s a good romantic suspense novel and I am looking forward to reading the next book about Adam and Meredith in the Cincinnati series .

Many thanks to Berkley Publishing Group& NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

Karen Rose plays with your mind, has you thinking one think then boom it missed those little clues and subtle hints. I love yes you have a love interest yet that doesn't take center stage the mystery does and I appreciate that , thank you

I was unable to finish this book at the current time; I really loved the general plot and the feel of this one. I loved the author's narrative style and prose but I didn't feel connected to the characters and found the plot hard to pick up. After realizing this is a part of a series and not a standalone, I am going to go back and read the other two books so I can do this one justice. A mistake on my part!

This one was a long book.It took me a while to feel connected to the story.I enjoyed some parts and I didn't like some others. Most of my problem was that it was too long and there were moments I feel a little bit bored. But overall the storyline was ok.

I really enjoyed this latest romantic thriller by Karen Rose. Griffin "Decker" and Kate were great characters and I enjoyed their interactions as they worked together and then developed a relationship. I thought the storyline was engrossing and had plenty of action. The book was a great balance of suspense and romance. I can't wait for more!

At the beginning of the book, FBI Agent Decker is waking up from a coma, the result of his investigation into a missing children’s case. Although he cannot remember very much, he does know that there are more children in danger. Kate, who is another FBI agent, works together with Decker to track down The Professor, who is the heinous person behind the missing children and so much more. What they uncover is human trafficking, child pornography, and drug trafficking. They know they have to get this despicable person off the streets before anyone else gets hurt or killed.

The characters are well rounded, well developed and three dimensional. Kate is a spunky, feisty woman who does not give up easily. I enjoyed the fact that she handles her ADHD with knitting and origami. This made her more realistic to me. Decker is a hard-as-nails hero but he has a heart of gold and he likes to protect those he loves. Kate and Decker have both been through alot and have some baggage that they bring to any relationship. They have deep emotional scars that may never be healed. The Professor was a truly evil and vile person, and at times, it was hard reading about him. He is the definition of a psychopath.

The book is written from different perspectives: Kate’s, Decker’s. The Professor’s and one of The Professor’s victim. This lead to the reader getting more of an insight into each of the characters thoughts and actions and I thought it was very effective.

The author is very talented in writing suspense and tension with just the written word. I had to keep swiping pages as fast as I could to see what was going to happen next. But I was also afraid to keep going in the book, afraid of what might happen next. I think she is one of the best suspense writers that I have ever read. She is also very talented in her romantic writing. There is chemistry between Kate and Decker but there is also respect and a real friendship. The writing style flows smoothly. I did think that at times the book dragged and I thought it was a little long for my taste.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well plotted well crafted romantic suspense. I have read a lot of books by this author and I have enjoyed them all. But be warned, this book is not for the faint of heart.

Told from multiple perspectives, Every Dark Corner, the third book in Karen Rose's Cincinnati series delivered suspense and passion that will keep you reading past your bedtime. Rose continues our journey into the dark world of human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and drug dealings.

The case in Every Dark Corner is deeply entwined with the previous story Alone in the Dark, and for that reason, I recommend at least these two books be read in order. Each romance is completed in the stories, but the case bleeds into this one as do our hero and heroine. Oh heck, read the Cincinnati series in order. They are superb.

At the end of Every Dark Corner, undercover FBI Special Agent Griffin "Decker" Davenport was injured, and our story begins with him in a medically induced coma. Special Agent Kate Coppola has kept a bedside vigil. Recently transferred, she prefers knitting by his bedside to her cold hotel room. As she knits, she listens to the tapes Agent Decker had hidden in the linings of his coat when he was admitted.

The case is complicated and had my palms sweating as I read. In the previous book we took down a human trafficking operation, but we soon learn there are ties to kiddie porn and drug trafficking. Decker holds valuable information the places him in danger. The Professor, our villain, is cleaning up any loose threads and bodies are piling up at the morgue. It was intense, dark and at times difficult to read.

Rose impressed me with her ability to give us all sides of the story. We get perspectives from Kate, Decker, the Professor and a victim whose story will keep you on edge. Their voices are genuine, and I slipped from one to the next without feeling pulled from the main story. The interaction between the different characters we have met since book one, Closer Than You Think, delivered friendship, banter, side threads and heart to this compelling tale. I am fond of the men from the Ledger, the local newspaper, and the men and women of the FBI.

The romance was wonderfully done. Kate feels a connection to Decker she cannot immediately explain, and it felt genuine given her history. Some moments made me laugh out loud from food talk to awkward kisses. The romance tethers you to all that is right with the world as Rose takes us into these dark corners.

After spending three years undercover in a sex trafficking operation, he wakes up from a coma desperate to get back to work to find children he knows are missing. Special Agent Kate Coppola is running from her own demons and ends up in Cincinnati and by Decker's side. She's determined to help him find out who is running this operation and put an end to it all. When people around them start getting hurt or killed and an attempt on Decker's life is made at the hospital, they realize these people will do nothing to stop from being caught. While dealing with their inner turmoil, their intense attraction to each other and the balance of keeping it all together in order to help one well known child porn "star", Sunshine Suzie, whose name happens to pop up in a chance occurrence - they find out more than they ever wanted to know about the operation at hand and who is involved. When will it ever end and how many lives will it cost them?

Admittedly, this book took about 30-40% before it snared me. Maybe because of the density of being 700+ pages, it seemed daunting. While you can read this as a stand alone and still enjoy it, I do think reading the first two books will help to get some backstory on some of the characters. Once I was snared though, I breezed through the rest of the book. I love a strong, snarky, female lead character and Coppola certainly is one of those. There were quite a few characters introduced and I felt for the victims, those involved that had personal histories that made them sensitive to the situation. The author does well in bringing all of these to the surface. And the romance? Steamy! ;) If you like romantic suspense, you will definitely enjoy this book - it's worth the long read.

Following on the heels of Alone in the Dark, this latest intense and thrilling installment of the Cincinnati series returns to the dark world of human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and drug dealing with yet more filthy evil for the men and women behind the badge to root out and destroy. A new heroine and hero take center stage in the form of FBI agents, Kate Coppola and Griffin Davenport.

Every Dark Corner is the third book in the Cincinnati series and part of the author’s greater series of dark thriller romantic suspense stories. It works best read in order and ties directly to earlier events and people in Alone in the Dark, but in a pinch it could be read out of order.

The story opens with new to her Cincinnati assignment, FBI Agent Kate Coppola encamped beside the hospital bed of coma patient Agent Griffin Davenport. Kate has an affinity with this man that she barely met on the last assignment that blew his cover, but got the human trafficking ring that he was deep undercover with. Davenport made sure she got CDs of his audio case notes though she can’t consult him after the shooting and the coma that was helping him heel. Kate isn’t sure why she is particularly attached to the man who seemingly had no friends or relations, but his shooting tore open her own past nightmares.

When Griffin awakes from his coma and can communicate the thought that has been most prevalent on his mind, this sets in motion several things including a joint task force of police, FBI, and other professionals to press further into their most recent case for some dangerous heretofore unknown loose ends. A kiddie porn dealer had a partner, a major drug maker and dealer seems to be connected, and a connection to the human trafficking ring that was recently brought down is still in operation and has taken more kids. Griffin is frustrated in how slowly he is healing and unable to help Kate and the others search the clues even while every connection or potential witness is being eliminated by those who do not wish to be found.

The Professor is tying up loose ends that could reveal him even as he learns that one lose end, Griffin Davenport remains out of reach. He will get him and get any others who might come after him. He is brilliant and untouchable. Or so he thinks, but while he plots, a weak and scared young woman dares to hope that she might play a part in taking him down and saving her sister and other kids from having their lives destroyed and left in misery like her own.

So, this is a huge book with many narrative threads that all tie together to form one suspenseful and gripping story. It can intimidate by size and, at first, by the quick scene changes before the reader can get immersed in the story. Then the connection happens and it’s easier to follow all that is taking place.

The author brings together a huge cast of characters that are predominantly the law enforcement types out to stop a crafty and evil criminal, but also includes that criminal as well. Normally, I am not one for getting both sides of the equation because it takes away the tension in the story, but in the case of these books, it works to make it more riveting.

The story begins with isolated events starting things in motion and eventually they tie together. I like how cohesive the book feels even while there is so much that could have been distracting. There are plot threads that work on the immediate case, but then there are personal story threads like Kate and Griffin’s pasts, and also Kate and Griffin’s romance. There is also the victim-survivor’s story and I love that this angle is not overlooked.

Parts police procedural as the investigation goes on, there is also a camaraderie and spirit amongst the investigation team and their surrounding circle of friends that makes for a lot of depth and complexity behind the thriller plot thread. This is needed, too, because the bad stuff in this story is dark and gritty and heartbreaking. As a reader, I was totally cheering on the law enforcement team to bring down the villains and enjoying the return of familiar faces from earlier stories working on the team and making their appearances.

The immediate situation was dealt with, but I saw room for more toward the overall series story that can be told. I love all the main characters and enjoy being along for them to work these desperate cases. From the early moments all the way through the end, I appreciated the book and definitely want more. I think those who enjoy thrillers and also darker romantic suspense would appreciate this book/series the best.

My thanks to Penguin Group for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Karen Rose knows how to write a suspense romance. Her plots are intricate and unyielding.

I recently started the Cincinnati series. I was lucky, I had all these characters fresh in my mind. I like how Karen Rose gives you snippets of old and new relationships to form. So, despite having the main couple, you can see the threads of new books to come for others.

In Every Dark Corner, FBI Special Agent Griffin "Decker" Davenport is waking up from a medically induced coma after being hit by bullets. He was undercover in a human trafficking case for three years. Special Agent Kate Coppola is in charge of his debriefing and in a way his protection too. She feels a connection towards him and she doesn't seem to be able to leave his hospital room for too long.

Decker knows he must tell the CPD and FBI about the kids who have been abused and used in a child pornography ring. He learned about it just before he was shot. An evil man known as the Professor is still out there and the task force must find him before he takes more children as his victims.

Every Dark Corner is a well-written suspense. There is plenty of action and intrigue. The characters have all suffered loss either on their jobs or their personal life.

I love that Kate deals with her anxiety by knitting or doing origami. It wouldn't surprise me if, by the next book, the whole team is knitting. However, don't think she is weak. She is super smart, stubborn, a great shot and very compassionate.

I hope the next character to get a book is either Stone or Diesel.

Cliffhanger: No

4/5 Fangs

Their's something about the author's families of friends looking out for each other and those in need, that just makes you want to become a part of the group to do good and be part of their world. Every Dark Corner with its dark topic of human trafficking brings the members of the Cinncinnati crew together to stop the tragedy, save lives all around the unexpected romance our main characters find themselves in. Another great addition to the authors series of books.

EVERY DARK CORNER is an action packed, intriguing story full of suspense, and romance. It’s an incredible, thrilling ride and it had me staying up all night to find out what would happen next. This story is about human trafficking and child pornography and the subject matter can be difficult to read. FBI agents are trying to find the man who is responsible for taking advantage of young children. It is a heartbreaking story about innocent children caught up in a sociopath’s net. It is interesting to see the process the FBI goes through to catch an unbelievably cruel and vicious killer. He preys on children and thinks he can outsmart everyone, including the FBI. Everyone working in the case is working nonstop trying to catch this dangerous man before he hurts anyone else.

Along with all the intrigue and suspense, a romance sparks between special agent Griffin “Decker” Davenport and special agent Kate Coppola when they meet while working on the case. They each have demons they are trying to deal with and they each have their own reasons for working with FBI. They have seen so much while working for the FBI and it has changed them. The romance between them builds slowly as they work on the case together. Over time, they are able to open up to each other and share their dark pasts and help each other heal.

Kate is smart, emotionally scarred, driven and she has ninja skills that impress everyone, especially Decker. Decker is confident and not intimidated by Kate, in fact, it makes him like her even more. He has been undercover for three years trying to find evidence to put human traffickers behind bars and is still recovering from gunshot wounds. He has never known love and didn't think he ever would have it in his life, until he meets Kate. I enjoyed the banter between Decker and Kate and it lightened the heaviness of the story. This is an emotional and sometimes gut wrenching story with unforgettable characters and a gripping plot and thankfully, there are some light and funny moments, too. I only had a small only issue with with the book and that was trying to remember all the characters included in this story. It is told from alternating POVs, so we know what the two main characters are are thinking and feeling.

Welcome back to the latest book (#3) in Karen Rose’s fabulous Cincinnati series. Having started with the very first book in this series, I must admit that I am totally emotionally invested in seeing this entire series through to the end. The act of human trafficking and sex slaves is abhorrent, but when it involves young children the act becomes even more despicable. This set of stories follows the brave men and women who are determined to stop and shut down the monsters who perpetuate these foul acts against humanity.

FBI Special Agent Griffin "Decker" Davenport finally wakes from a medically induced coma. His brain is a bit fuzzy but slowly he remembers the desperation he needs to remember moron order to find the missing children he knows are in danger. Just at the end of his last undercover investigation, Decker had thought it was all over. Just before the case would have been closed, Decker discovered not everyone had been rescued, but he was severely shot and was unable to tell anyone that the case couldn’t be closed. .

Special Agent Kate Coppola had recently been assigned to Cincinnati and had a hand in saving Decker’s life and took it upon herself to sit by his hospital bed while listening to the tapes that Decker had recorded while undercover. She has been trying to piece together the crime he was investigating and growing closer to the agent she was finding more and more attractive as time went by. Thankfully it was Kate who realized that there were missing pieces and and Decker’s life was in danger and when someone tried to poison him in the hospital Kate was able to save him before it was too late.

Not only were Kate and Decker the main characters in book #3 but anyone following the series would be happy to see and enjoy the interaction of secondary characters that were introduced in the first two books of the series. Actually I do believe EVERY DARK CORNER could stand alone but if you want my advice I would highly suggest reading them in order so that the reader enjoys seeing how the previous characters are making out as time marched on.

Bottom line: EVERY DARK CORNER is a remarkable book that is packed with non-stop suspense and action. Ms. Rose’s villain is a master of disguise and a genius at staying one step ahead of the authorities. The chase is on with very little to go on and the suspense is amazing because of the cleverness of said villain. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed this thriller! The main reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because it's book 3 of the Cincinnati books and I wasn't familiar with some of the main characters. It works well as a standalone, but I missed a good chunk of the character development from the first two books.

This books is about FBI Agent Griffin "Decker'' Davenport and when he wakes up from his coma and is desperate to find the missing children. At the end of his last investigation, when he thought it was all over and justice had been served, he discovered that not everyone had been rescued, but he was shot before he was able to tell anyone.

We also follow Special Agent Kate Coppola, who recently moved to Cincinnati for a promotion. She however is trying to help solve Decker's last case. When someone tries to kill Decker in his hospital bed, he and Kate realise that the children are not the only ones whose lives are threatened, and that they must stop at nothing to hunt down the perpetrators. And danger is waiting in every dark corner.

I enjoyed all the suspense and twists throughout this novel. Like I mentioned earlier, I wish I had read the first two (which I'll soon do!). I also couldn't believe how long the book was (600+ pages) but I didn't lose interest throughout (as can happen with longer books).

Thanks to Berkley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

The mystery and story line in this book was great. But, the story had so many characters that I could not keep them all straight. It really detracted from the story when I had to keep stopping and trying to figure out who is who

Every Dark Corner is the third book in Karen Rose’s Cincinnati series. It can be read as a standalone, but due to the reoccurring characters and the continuing story arc it would be better read following book one, Closer Than You Think, and book two, Alone In The Dark.

“The Professor” is the disguise used by an evil genius whose crimes include drug manufacturing, drug and human trafficking, child pornography and serial killing. He ruthlessly uses his drug addicted buyers as informants, alibis, and tools to help commit and cover his crimes. No one is safe from the Professor including his own family. There is nothing he won’t do.

Special Agent Kate Coppola and Special Agent Griffin “Decker” Davenport are part of the team working to uncover and capture the Professor. Their relationship grows as the chase heats up. Kate and Decker are both strong characters who are dedicated to their careers, but both are also troubled in their own way.

Some of my favorite things about Karen Rose’s novels are her original ideas, local touches, and seeing familiar characters. This book is no different. I enjoyed seeing Kate break out her knitting or origami and reading about Cincinatti’s famous five way chili and catching up with characters from previous books.

You can’t go wrong with a Karen Rose book and this one is no exception.
