We won't be able to review this book as we couldn't finish it because we hadn't read the previous and found ourselves a bit lost with the plot
I am a huge fan of Mr. Jacka and am always delighted when a new Alex Verus novel comes out. This novel was a little different from previous novels. There was less action for most of the book as the book spans about nine months and sets up the ending which does have plenty of action. I admit I was so angry at a couple of the characters, namely Richard and Morden (and two other characters that I won’t say why and what made me that way as I don’t want to spoil something in the book), that I just wanted Alex to kill them. I know that’s a little bloodthirsty, but that shows you how Mr. Jacka is such a good writer, and he draws you in so much, that the reader has a visceral reaction. I appreciate, too, how aspects from other books were incorporated into this one. And, wow, I have to say the ending was fantastic and makes me incredibly anxious for the next one. If you are a fan of the series already, you will love this. If you haven’t read the series and like urban fantasy, start reading it ASAP! Highly recommend! Thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for the e-copy of the book which I voluntarily reviewed. This same review will be posted on both Goodreads and Amazon.
