Kelly Jamieson is one of the few authors that write outstanding sports romance and she did it again with Top Shelf. Jared and Sidney have fast become my favorite couples in the Ace's series.
The characters are spunky, love scenes hot and over all you are left panting!

Sidney Frayne has no desire to get married, a little fun is fine as long as she keeps the sex hot and her emotions cool. She tried marriage and it almost destroyed her. The wound run deep and she's going to need a strong man to navigate that battlefield.

A sweet new gig as a mixology consultant at Jared Rupp's popular Chicago hangout for his team, the Aces means lots of hot guys, especially her new boss. Will she be able to keep her heart from shattering again?

One challenge will slowly bring them to evaluate what they really want. The chemistry is off the charts and when things get too intense will she allow herself to fall and find love? Can she trust that he's faithful and not a player?

With HOT chemistry and even HOTTER bedroom scenes this book gives us a strong heroine and a hero who might just be absolutely perfect if he can cut through her layer of ice.

Great character development updates from previous books in the series mean you'll find yourself reading the other books in the series to find out more about those hot Aces.

Ohhh Jasper, Jasper Jasper!

I loved this story so much. There are few stories where all the elements I enjoy are present and working well together. To my surprise, this story did.

I loved the characters. Jasper was the ultimate ladies man and I loved seeing him fall for Sidney. He was handsome, sexy and definitely confident. I knew his story would be good, especially if the author brought in a woman who could challenge him. Sidney was the perfect partner for Jasper. Not only was she beautiful, she was smart, funny and confident in her abilities. She was blunt and didn't hold back when it came to both her business and personal life. Her past personal experience made her weary of relationships and determined not to get involved, so it was also a treat to see her falling for Jasper as the story progressed.

I loved that the author took the time to establish and develop Jasper and Sidney's connection. I loved them together. Their connection could be felt in every interaction. Be it through their flirty banter, business meetings or intimate conversations, their connection shined through. And so did their chemistry. Phew! When these two got together sparks went flying! I loved it.

Once again, I enjoyed catching up with past couples and getting to know more about the other team members. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, because seriously, I'm enjoying the hell out of the Aces hockey world the author has built for us and I don't even like hockey.

Hockey star Jared Rupp notices the beautiful woman enter his bar and when she sits down next to him he is intrigued. She gives her opinion of the drink menu peaking his interest even more.

Sidney Frayne knows that a man like Jared wants her but she also knows from her own experience that no strings is the best option when it comes to giving in to her desires. However, neither expect to fall for one another. What happens when one of them begins to want more?

I liked this one quite a bit. I thought the chemistry was intense and liked that they both felt like they did not have more to give. Sidney was an intriguing character who you wanted to know more about as the story progressed. Great read.

I really liked this book. I dunno if it is because I loved Sydney's profession or because I loved how fashionable Jared was. I loved the progression of the relationship and this book gave me exactly what I love about this authors books. Would definitely recommend.

A sweet story overall. I’m not a fan of the setup for the story. I find the whole sex without feelings thing annoying because it’s stupid to think feelings won’t become involved. Plus, the whole I’ll never love anyone because I don’t want to get hurt thing is stupid too. The scenario just comes across as pathetic to me, so I don’t enjoy reading it. Then throw in an idiotic choice without any real professional opinion, and I wasn’t loving it. Way to just assume things; jeez. Also, Sidney kept saying she was over the situation with her ex, but she’s still letting it rule aspects of her current life, so it’s obvious she isn’t over it. The story is still entertaining, and Jared and Sidney do have a good connection. Some hot stuff between them! The hockey is fun too; except for the easy puck bunnies. This is the second book this week I’ve read where the guy banged some easy lay that went crazy stalker afterwards; keep it in your pants boys! At least until you know you aren’t with someone out to not take no for an answer; you don’t know when things will get out of hand or the lies they’ll tell. Jared was a decent guy; just didn’t make the best decisions in the past, still a sweetie though. Sidney for the most part is a strong lady with a good heart. She’s been hurt in the past, so there are those walls up.

Overall, I was entertained the whole story and I enjoyed the previous books in this series. I’m not in a rush to continue the series though because the next 2 books at least seem like they are a similar sex no feelings type scenario, and I’m just tired of that. Good writing though, so we’ll see.

This author's voice/writing style doesn't work for me. I have tried numerous books and I have found many hockey romances that work for me, so I know the sport romance side of it isn't a "new" thing for me - but I don't really connect with this author's style.

The depth really isn't there for me and when I try to look deeper into the storyline, I'm just not feeling it. I like being able to sink into a book, to get lost in the words, and be able to fall in love with the characters, and on these books I just couldn't.

Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

It was a lot of fun watching Jared fall. When Sidney walks into his bar and criticizes it, there's something about her that draws him in. He soon hires Sidney to help him streamline the business he's built and the sparks that flew when they first met turn into an inferno. She's been burned before and isn't looking for anything longterm. He likes his playboy lifestyle just the way it is, thank you very much. So to see them slowly want to start building a relationship together was great.

(Everything with Hallsy broke my heart though...I hope that we have plenty of time before he gets a book - if he even does...that was rough.)

Another great read from Kelly Jamieson with her Aces Hockey series. This book is a standalone, however reading all of the Aces Hockey books does provide extra background about the various characters that are woven into the story. Jared and Sidney are full of spunk and dynamite, and I couldn't put this book down. The author gives a realistic authenticity to this story, and there are moments where I have laughed and "aww'd" and been just mesmerized by this story. Jared is confident, sexy, smart, and realistic about what life can look like after the Pro's. Sidney is full of spunk, confident, and creative. This mixture gives the reader an amazing couple to read about, and I can't wait to read more Aces Hockey books.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

TOP SHELF - Kelly Jamieson

#3 in the Aces Hockey sports romance series

LOTS OF HOT SCENES! - 4 stars

Plot - 4 stars - Jared, a key member of the Aces, is also the owner of the Sin Bin, a successful restaurant and hockey player hangout. But when Sidney stops in, she offers to revise his food and drinks menu to help business. He wants to get closer to her, so he agrees.

Writing - 4 stars - Jamieson caught my attention right from the first page. I've enjoyed this series so far, and this book is no exception. The characters are approachable, even though they're famous pro hockey players, and definitely people you'd want to hang out with. Plus, Jamieson really knows how to write a hot sex scene, and there are plenty of them in this book.

Characters - 4 stars - Jared is the ultimate alpha sports sexy male, with a big personality and a high-class style despite his poor upbringing. But he's a nice guy, even though he's a player. He has an admirably strong work ethic, and he's a team leader. Sidney went through a tough divorce and had a top-level job, but now she's remaking herself and developing her own business. She still has a low self-esteem, but it doesn't really overwhelm her, just causes her to have doubts from time to time. Both characters are strong, personable people who can definitely handle themselves in social situations. Sidney, though, thinks of herself as unworthy of Jared because of her personal problems with marriage and conceiving a child.

Title - 4 stars - Clever. It refers to the restaurant and the level to which Jared and Sidney are working to raise it to, making it a high-end place, not just a sports bar. And, apparently, it's also a hockey term--who knew!

Cover - 4 stars - What's not to like? Good-looking guy, following along with the theme of previous covers in this series.

Overview - 4 stars - This is an entertaining series, with lots of fun camaraderie between the players and good support and independence among the girlfriends and wives. Jamieson has built a fun world that anyone would be attracted to, and this reader is no exception. The story is believable, and the hurdles to overcome made sense, culminating in the predictable (but pleasing) happily-ever-after ending.

Sydney and Jared had a very interesting way of meeting. She blurts out all the things that are not working for the Sin Bin and are preventing it from being more profitable without knowing that the person she is talking to is the owner. Isn't that a fun way to begin something with another person? Jared didn't seem to agree with me though which was good for the story and ends up hiring her in order to fix everything that's wrong with his establishment. Of course thing hit up between them and not long after they do the horizontal dance. Sydney has been burned before and doesn't want a relationship, while Jared is more open to the idea of putting labels and calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend. Her cheating husband is the one to blame here and he was the reason Sydney had some bad thoughts of herself. That and getting the woman he cheated her on with pregnant. I would have liked some communication between Sydney and Jared. I feel like things would have been easier for them if the spoke plainly. Overall the book was on the same quality line as the two previous books and maybe if I want to be 100% honest, it was somewhat worse than the other two.

"I fell in love with you. So you win."

Meet Sidney Frayne - a divorcee who is extremely jaded on love thanks to her slime of an ex husband who cheated on her and got another girl pregnant. Having left him and a job she hated behind, she's successfully started her own business doing something she loves - creating and revamping restaurants/bars. This is how she meets hockey star and restaurant owner Jared Rupp. There's an instant attraction between the two and soon they are mixing business and pleasure -both promising the other that what they're doing is a 'no strings attached' type of thing. But this is a romance book so of course feelings are involved.

The thing that initially drew me to this type of romance was that it was hockey themed. Hockey is my favorite sport and sport players are some of my faves to read in contemporary romance so perfect match. I liked that Jamieson seems to know the sport and even a little of what happens with the players when the game isn't on. I also liked how she set it in the current NHL but created her own team which allowed her more freedom to play with the characters since they weren't real players but ones she created.

Now for the romance - it was steamy, I'll give it that. You can see early on that these two are destined to fall for each other. Jared surprised me by being the more open one to an actual relationship. But Sidney bothered me a bit. I get that she's been burned and she doesn't want a commitment but there are times that she's downright rude and hurtful toward Jared. There are ways to put up boundaries without being mean. But I did like that she was driven and cared about her business. She didn't become a swoony waif around Jared, but maintained her own personality. Their banter was hilarious and her puppy was adorable.

Jamieson's books are fun summer reads for me. I will probably be reading more from this series at some point.

I love the Aces hockey series and was glad this book was about Jared and Sydney.
Totally love how the characters are older and how they interact within each book.

(4..25 stars)
What I’m really enjoying about the Aces Hockey series is the fact that it is evolving out of a rocky start in book one to a series where each book is getting increasingly better. Jared and Sidney have chemistry from their very first encounter. They have a very playful “non- relationship” and often found myself laughing at their antics. Top Shelf mixes together the perfect balance between Jared’s life on and off the ice. I’m really looking forward to reading max’s book since his story has been being setup throughout the last few books. I’m curious to see IF and HOW Ms. Jamieson is going to make him whole again.

Third Ace Hockey series is about Jared Rupp who owns Sin Bin and Ace’s fierce player. He loves to play hockey, win and beautiful things including women. He never had problem attracting beautiful woman and when he sees Sydney at his bar, he wanted to know more about her.
Sydney is beautiful cocktail, bar menu consultant who just criticized his bar. He did not like hearing criticism about his bar but he was intrigued by her so he decided to listen to her proposition. But before the business meeting he is taking her out. They have a wonderful time and they decided on an one night stand. That’s how it suppose to be. But Jared couldn’t just have one night with her he wanted more.
Sydney didn’t want to mix business and pleasure so she thought it would be best to leave it where it was. Both understood what they wanted and they didn’t do relationships so they settle for friends with benefits.
Once they started seeing each other, Jared wanted more than just benefit. He knew what he wanted so he comes with an idea of challenging each other. Sydney was so stubborn regarding relationship due to her previous marriage. She was in really dark place when she found out her husband was cheating on her and having a baby while she was trying to have one herself. Her ex-husband’s unfaithful marriage to her broke her in so many ways and she believed she can’t have any babies. So she did not want to get hurt like that any more so she decided to try non-relationship with Jared. It was exciting for both and they were having fun while playoff is on the line for Jared.
Jared and Sydney were enjoying everything but Jared’s ex girlfriend keeps popping into their lives and it creates more problems for both.
But what they didn’t know was someone will get hurt and someone will fall in love. Jared wanted more and Sydney didn’t. What will Jared do to keep Sydney.....

I really enjoyed all the books from this series. I couldn’t wait to finish this one which kept me until wee hours of the night. They were very unusual couple but they had their happy ending. I can’t wait to dive into the next one.

Kelly Jamieson is one of my all-time favorite authors, and TOP SHELF just adds to her amazing repertoire. Jared and Sidney together have that something extra. I can't quite explain it, but I could seriously have had 600 more pages of their story and still want more. It was sexy. IT was funny. It was heart-melting. It was everything. If you're looking for a sassy, hot sports romance, look no further, because this will check every single satisfactory box. LOVE it!

Really enjoyed this book and happy that Jared found his match. The only thing I didn't like was the pregnancy plot line. Overall a great addition to the series.
