I did not finish this book. I wanted to, and I truly tried, but I couldn't believe the story these characters were trying to portray. I felt it was a lot of the same thing written repeatedly-which can be necessary in some cases, but I don't think this is one of them. I would like to try something else by this author.
Another book that I really loved an was great read an was very well written with excellent characters cant wait for more from this author an this great series so far. would totally recommend it

Totally enjoyable read in Kelly's Aces Hockey series! Her characters have good depth and I love how they have this core group that support each other. Plus the heat between Jared and Sidney is off the charts!! Kelly knows her hockey and it definitely makes it fun to read. Plus I just enjoy her storytelling. Jared and Sidney were two people not looking for Meier than a good time, friends with benefits type arrangement, but they got way more than they bargained. They were a great couple and I look forward to more in this series!!
I enjoyed the previous books in the Aces Hockey series and have been looking forward to Jared's story for a while.
I really liked the setting with his bar/restraurant and Sidney helping him with his concept. It was interesting how she was doing her job and I would have enjoyed reading more about it.
Jared and Sidney been fun characters. I enjoyed their bantering and they had some intense chemistry. I liked how their chemistry and passion was growing throughout the story. Sometimes a few things went a bit too quick, especially to the end, but overall enjoyed the story a lot.
I am really a huge fan of the Aces team and it's so great that the whole team is involved in the individual stories. They feel like a huge family.
We all know I like to start my reviews by thanking NetGalley and Random House Loveswept for providing us with a copy of these books so that we could bring you this review.
Well what can I say about the 3 sexy hockey players other than WOW... I mean these are books 2-4 of the series and having already been in love with the Ace's hockey team how could I not be anxious to read the other books. I love Duncan and his innocent sexiness. What do I mean by that simple... he doesn't know how sexy he really is and things he innocently says that make him so much sexier is fantastic, I love it. Amber and her father's past was a little sad, but it helps her become the person that she is so much that its what makes her perfect for Duncan. Sidney reminded me so much of one of my favorite shows Bar Rescue and how in that show they are helping bars improve, which is what Sidney does for a living. It made me laugh how Rupp starts to fall in love with Sidney and doesn't even realize it, but once he does I love how he tricks her into giving them a chance to have a relationship. Now I have to say that I started to read Tanner's book before I read Rupp and Sidney's so I was looking forward to what was going to happen at the end of Top Shelf. Now let me get to Tanner and Katelyn... which I will say was my favorite book of all them. I guess we all know how I feel about second chance love stories, but the fact that Katelyn is kind of like the antithesis of what Tanner believes in is awesome. She helps him see how things can be different. My heart breaks at one point for the things that Tanner has had to endure when he was young.
I give these three books a combined total of 4.75 body checking kisses...
Happy Reading... Adri
A chance meeting leads to so much more in Kelly Jamieson’s Top Shelf and it is a fantastic purestdelightawardaddition to the Aces Hockey series. Watching two people who both insisted they only did “casual relationships” realize having someone in your life to share your ups, downs and everything in between (and okay yes, some sizzling hot sexy times) fall in love was pretty damn priceless. Fun and sexy but with a whole lot of emotion; Top Shelf was an immensely enjoyable read.
Hockey star Jared Rupp is immediately intrigued when a woman steps in his restaurant and bar and pronounces his drink menu unimaginative. Sidney Frayne is pretty embarrassed after she unknowingly trashes the Sin Bin’s owner’s menu especially give the sparks flying between them, but then he wants her to meet his staff and there’s no doubt he’d like something a lot more personal with her.
There is no doubt Jared has enjoyed his life as a celebrity including having the finer things in life and women when he wants them. Jared doesn’t think he’s interested in marriage and family and he believes that hockey and his bar should have his complete attention, but there is something about Sidney that makes him want to spend time with her. After recovering from a nasty divorce and working to get her fledgling business off the ground, Sidney is convinced she doesn’t need a man in her life or want a relationship and while she puts up a good fight, Jared sneaks under her defenses.
I enjoyed the “no strings” arrangement these two had and the intense physical relationship with Jared being very experiences and Sidney not that experienced it was interesting watching her really enjoy her sexuality and there was no doubt Jared enjoyed helping her with that. I found it very interesting that it was Jared who wanted to spend more time, wanted overnights and sought out Sidney when he’d had a bad day or needed to vent. Sidney remained steadfast for a very long time that she didn’t want a relationship even when it became obvious they had moved into one without really thinking about it.
I liked these two together and felt they complimented each other; intelligent, hard working and fun they fit together well.
This series has been an easy one to love and Top Shelf just seemed to have a bit more of a serious note to it that the others, and that’s not a bad thing, it just had a different feel. Well written with entertaining characters and a whole lot of feels, this was an exciting story.
This is the third book in the Chicago Aces series that I have read by Kelly Jamison. It can be read as a stand alone but it definitely fun to revisit characters from the first two novels.
We know Jared as the smooth, well dressed man that owns the Sin Bin where the players hang out after their games and in their down time. He meets Sidney when she criticizes his bar and its lack of originality. He hires her to help revamp the bar's image.
Sidney used to work as a bartender but has now branched out into consulting with bars and restaurants. She came through a very nasty divorce and is still a bit gun shy about being in a relationship with anyone but especially a hockey player.
They begin a relationship out side of their working relationship (big surprise). Both Jared and Sidney have their own issues to work through and of course there is some outside drama thrown in. The reader is rooting for them to get their HEA and they do :).
Curious to see who take the plunge in the next book.
I found myself flying through the pages! It was so well written and the characters were really well developed.
I was given a gifted copy by NetGalley.
Jared is the oldest player in the Ace team but he is still in great shape. He is a good guy and coming from a difficult childhood, he knows the value of effort and has enough money not to have worries anymore. In order to have that, and even though he had a lot of money, he is careful with it and invests part of the money in a bar.
Sidney is a mixology consultant and has started her own business. Now she is trying to get some new clients. When she enters into the Sin Bin, Jared’s bar, she has no idea her life is going to be changed forever.
This is the first book in the series I read. The book starts a little bit slow. Although I don’t understand anything about hockey, I have to say that the author writes the game scenes so well that I can actually see them happening in my mind.
I like the characters. Jared is a great guy, he knows what it is not to have money and he didn’t allow fame and richness go to his head. He is intelligent and invests money in a bar so he can have a way of living when he can’t play anymore.
Sidney knows what is falling to the bottom and getting up little by little. That made her strong even though she didn’t realize.
I like the sex scenes, they are hot. However, I think there are too many and that make me to see them as repetitive.
