I wasn't quite connecting with this one and I had to DNF with the possibility of picking up in the future. Thank you for the opportunity to read the book and I apologize for the inconvenience.
Any Time, Any Place by Jennifer Probst
When I read the synopsis of Any Time, Any Place, my first thought took me in two different directions, On the one hand, I am SO curious how all this will turn out. On the other hand, the synopsis says "heart-wrenching". I tend to steer clear of books described as heart-wrenching, but the synopsis gave enough of the story away that I just had to know how everything would go down. Raven's dad ran away with Dalton's mom, and they both died in a car accident. That. Is. Heavy. Plus, Raven knows the story and Dalton doesn't realize she's the daughter of the man who ran off with his mom. She waits way too long to tell him, but oh well. That obviously doesn't go over well at all. I really liked Raven. She's strong, successful, and has her head on straight. Dalton was great, too, but he was more of a cookie cutter character for me. Swoony, yes. No complaints there. But Raven outshined him for me. All in all, this was fun! Yes, it was heart-wrenching at times, but not so much so that I regretted picking it up.
Jennifer Probst is amazing! I've been loving this series and these characters so much! It's definitely a must-read. First series I read that involves construction and I actually enjoyed it. I totally enjoyed the brother's dynamics even more in this novel.
Thank You for the opportunity to review this book. Sorry, I attempted to read this book. However, I couldn't get in to it. So, I was unable to finish reading and reviewing it.
I tried to read this several times, and normally I enjoy Ms. Probst's books, but for some reason I couldn't connect with the characters or the main plotline with their unknown history, at least on Dalton's part. The push/pull, which should have kept me on the edge, just fell flat for me. Ms. Probst is a good writer, so it's just a case of "it's not you book, it's me."
Completely readable woman's romantic contemporary fiction novel with a pretty stellar heroine and a so-so hero. Great writing and relatable characters really sold this one.
Any Time, Any Place was a good read. It is the first I have read in this series, but I definitely want to go back and read the first book now. Dalton and Raven were meant to be together even though Raven tries to fight it. This book was great.
When she was young Raven's father was killed in a car accident. She had lost her mom already so he was the only parent she had. If that weren't bad enough her dad was with another woman and they were running away to Paris. He was leaving her and never coming back! Plus the lady's family was saying that her father seduced their mother and that is why she was there. It ruined her father's name and Raven vowed to get revenge on the Pierce family when she was able to. They can't get away with ruining her good father's name. They just can't.
The Pierce family was devastated when their mother died running away with another man. Dalton especially. He was the closest to her. They were like best friends and confidants and to see that she was leaving him and never coming back broke him. He lost faith in love and marriage. So now he loves women, but not long term. No commitment. Only a few times together and then move on to the next one. He loves everything about women. I really loved Dalton. He was upfront about who he was, but also wasn't that afraid to change for the right person. He also didn't have that male must protect my little woman thing going on. Raven is more than capable of taking care of herself and when she does he is so proud of her. I loved it.
When Raven moves back to town and opens a bar she doesn't expect to run into the Pierce brothers right away. Nor does she expect the crazy pull she has towards Dalton. He had run off to California to try and be his own man, but after his father's passing he was forced to move back home and be part of the family business. He is a woodworker and he loves it. He can see what a piece is or should be. Sometimes their clients ask for one thing, but he knows it should be another so he usually goes with what he knows and the clients end up happier. When he first meets Raven there is just something about her that draws him in. He wants to get to know her, to be there with her, yes to have sexy time with her but the more he is around her the more he just wants to be around her. I loved him. The issue? He knows she feels the connection as well, but she acts like she hates him most of the time. He can't figure it out. What did he do? Why does she hate him for no reason?
Of course Raven tries to stay away as he is one of the dreaded Pierce brothers. She will get her revenge. She is determined to prove that their mother seduced her father and led him astray. Oh, Raven. I understood her pain and heartache, but I hated that she instantly just wanted to prove that their mother was a horrible person. She never once considered that it could have just been they fell in love and neither of them had nefarious reasons. It was like she was determined to have them go through everything she went through whether it was correct or not. I hated that! But I still enjoyed the book.
Slowly these two start to get to know each other and Raven really struggles. She wants Dalton, but is she betraying her father if she gives in to him? So she tries to just use his interest to learn about his family. To find clues to what really happened. You know as they are growing closer and actually start to develop feelings for each other that it is not going to be good when Dalton finds out who she really is and what she was up to. I was waiting for the big blow up and man it was a doozy. I loved Dalton, but man. I get it. I mean he still hasn't forgiven his mother for leaving him so how would he react to finding out the guy's daughter, the guy he blames for his mother's death, is actually Raven? Oh, they have a lot to work through, but it was so fun to watch. I loved how everything worked itself out. These two were meant for each other, but that doesn't mean it was easy. My heart broke for Dalton so many times, but everything that happens makes them stronger. I really enjoyed this read. It was a lot of fun.
DNF ..... this book (and series) didn't really work for me.
When your world is turned upside down - how do you put hte peices back together. Meeting one of the sons of your fathers mistress was never in the cards - so falling for Dalton just can't happen - or can it?
This was a wonderful book with all the things that keep me reading til the end. Funny, unusual plot with the back and forth of a want you/ don't need you relationship. Loved the brother interactions and wanted to be friends with the girls. I recommend this to anyone that likes a hot, lively read.
great romance and loved seeing the different brothers and finding romance.
I've been waiting for resolution between Bella and Dalton's story since the ending of Everywhere and Every Way. I'm a complete and total sucker for an enemies to lovers story, and the way the backstory interwove Bella and Dalton and his brothers was brilliant. I honestly didn't know IF they'd get to their HEA because there was so much to work through, so much to forgive and so much to move past. An excellent book!
I'm loving this Builders Series from Jennifer Probst! Book 2 features the younger brother, Dalton, along with the feisty bartender we first met in Everywhere, Everyway. Dalton and Raven had a push and pull that I loved. Their chemistry was palpable at times, and the way Probst describes it was beautiful at times and others it was simply steamy hot. The angst and mysteries of the past also kept me plugged into their story. Dalton and Raven weren't perfect characters. They both screwed up, but I loved how they made peace and forgave each other as well as themselves and their family. Definitely ready for more from this series!
Five years ago I discovered Jennifer Probst. I fell in love with the Conte family in the Marriage to a Billionaire series and have stuck by her since. For me her writing is timeless. I know in another five, ten, fifteen years, when ever I go back to my favorites, they will hold up. Jennifer has a way of making you feel like the characters you are reading about are your best friends and family too. Each story and each couple you read about brings all the feels. Sweet, smart and sexy, Jennifer's story telling are those cold and warm weather books you curl up with to get lost in.
Everywhere and Every Way (Billionaire Builders #1 - Caleb and Morgan) left a bit of a cliff hanger for Raven and Dalton, who are the primary couple in Any Time, Any Place (Billionaire Builders #2). Each of the Pierce brothers are so different and have dealt with the loss of their mother when they were children and the recent passing of their father, which brought them back together, differently. Dalton being the youngest has always struggled to prove himself to his father and brothers and finally himself. A master woodworker, Dalton is the youngest of the Pierce brothers and a ladies man. He's not one to settle down or fall in love. Past deceits left him jaded to love. But the smart, strong-willed, and beautiful bar keep at The Place is proving quite the challenge for Dalton. Raven is also orphaned. She's worked hard for each and every thing she has in her life. She's a fighter and spent many years letting her pain and anger drive her towards destroying those that took her life from her. When Dalton come crashing into her world she is torn between her feeling of attraction to him and her duty to her memories.
It's not long before Raven realizes there is a lot more to Dalton than her preconceived notions about him and that their histories aren't that different. As she falls deeper and deeper for Dalton she realizes that she will have to risk it all to tell keep him and take a chance on letting her past go to save her future.
Only two books in and I'm already in love with the Billionaire Builders series. I imagine you could read these as a standalones but you truly would be missing out on the experience if you did.
This book was better than the first in the series. I love that Raven is a strong woman and knows what she wants. The story line flowed well and kept my interest. I love the dynamics of the Pierce family.
Any Time, Any Place is the newest release in author Jennifer Probst’s Billionaire Builders series; a series I simply adore. I was so excited for this latest installment and it was just as fabulous as I knew it would be.
One of the things I love and admire most about Ms. Probst’s writing is her ability to give her characters such depth and have them feel so real. Each character has little quirks and traits that give them a wonderful dimension. Dalton and his love of wood and star-gazing. Raven and her passion for flavors and mixology. When you’re reading her books, you feel like you’re actually there, watching heir lives unfold. Raven and Dalton’s story was just another prime example of that talent.
I loved watching Raven and Dalton’s relationship evolve and grow. In their own ways, they were both lost and in need of finding their happy ever afters. Both trying to overcome the heartbreaking losses they had suffered. Trying to understand it and accept it. In a million years neither one of them would have expected to find solace in the arms of an enemy of sorts. And yet, that’s exactly what happened. The emotion surrounding their story is touching, heavy, and beautiful. Add to that emotion some serious chemistry, Dalton’s charm, and Raven’s bad ass nature and this book is the total package. Oh, and her signature movie worthy endings? Yep, she’s written another stellar one!
Once again, Ms. Probst knocked it out of the park. I loved this book and can’t wait to see what’s next in store for this group!
The Billionaire Pierce brothers sure know how to keep their lives super busy and interesting, and Jennifer Probst adds the needed spice and passion for her readers to fall in love with the Pierce brothers.
Book 2 of the series, “Any Time, Any Place” throws Raven Bella and Dalton Pierce together even as their parents’ past connects them, with severe consequences. Even as Raven tries to fight the attraction she feels for Dalton, her heart says otherwise. But with a past that connects them so closely, a fact that Dalton in unaware of, fate brings Dalton into Raven’s life as circumstances put him right in the middle of Raven’s bar and renovations.
Although I’m partial to the first book, “Everywhere And Every Way”, Dalton and Raven’s story has its own charm as they try to overcome the betrayal of their parents and the insecurities and fears of commitment and relationships. With doses of emotion and passion, with plenty of fears and insecurities of a normal person, “Any Time, Any Place” is another great love story by Jennifer Probst, with family dynamics, witty dialogues and fiery passion that would satisfy any reader.
Raven Bella Stratton is done running wild. She is ready to build a life for herself and maybe even a future. Her bar is where her family is now. Her team has her back and she has theirs. True, she still has her aunt, the one that took her in after her father's death and betrayal, but here she is her own woman. Until Dalton Pierce walks in and her past crashes in with him. Dalton has no problem getting laid. His conquests are well known. He is a straight shooter and the ladies know relationships are not his thing. But a one night stand? Yeah. He is your man. Until Raven. She intrigues him. She is gorgeous, smart, sassy and doesn’t want a thing to do with him. Or so she says, but Dalton is relentless. When she needs her bar restored, he is the man for the job. And he will take the opportunity to become the only man for her. Until the secret she's been keeping will make them or break them. Jennifer Probst weaves another wonderful Pierce brother romance with Any Time, Any Place. Dalton is funny, sexy and tired of not being taken seriously. Raven is too serious, jaded and in need of someone that will take care of her. Together they are perfect. This time the mystery of Diane Pierce's accident is revealed and many of the boys questions are answered. The Pierce clan is back and the snippets of future tales are enough to keep fans dying for more. Can't wait for Tristan's story.
Any time, any place is the second book in the Billionaire Builders series and it follows Dalton and Raven two people who have more in common than Dalton knows. As the blurb says, Raven is the daughter of the man who was going to run away with Dalton's mother and she is trying to prove that her father wasn't the bad man who ruined a perfect family. I might have not liked that Raven was keeping secret her story, but I understood why she did it. I liked most of the book. The thing that bothered me the most was the part where Dalton finds out the truth and acts immaturely. That cost them their relationship and I felt like the book drugged until the moment they got back together. In my opinion, it took them too much time to work things out and I got tired of them not being together. It really tainted by the whole experience with the book. I have no idea why it bothered me so much, but I can't handle it. I wanted them to try and make amends and Dalton was too busy with Charlotte (platonic relationship, but I don't care at the moment).
I liked that we got a closure to the story of their parents. The end might have been tragic, but a lot of questions were answered and I feel satisfied with that department. I even liked how Dalton was slowly wearing out Raven about going on a date with him. The book was mostly good and I liked Charlotte aka the heroine of the novella that's coming next in the series. I am looking forward towards reading Tristan and Sydney's story. I think we were teased enough about these two and it's time to see them getting their happy ending.
This the second story of the Billionaire Builders series (and no, I didn’t read the first story, which I should have!) which revolves around the three brothers who own Pierce Brothers Construction in Harrington, Connecticut. This is the story of Dalton, the youngest brother.
I gotta say, this story can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend you read the read the first book because in it you’ll meet the heroine, Raven Hawthorne and the reasons behind her animosity toward the Pierce brothers.
Dalton was such a great character and I liked him from page one. He is smart, tenacious and sexy to boot! He also carries a lot of unresolved feelings about his past and together, these two made up for some great reading.
I think you’ll enjoy this fast paced, heartwarming romance filled with lots of humor and characters that will touch you in all the right places.
