Reagan was a bad-ass, cool and collected in the face of grave danger. I loved her story.

Seventeen-year-old Reagan is your typical teenage girl. She's in high school, trying to decide where to go to college. She goes to parties and gossips with her friends. She's got a crush on the boy next door. Oh yeah, and she's also a highly skilled Black Angel operative-in-training. While most teenagers head home from school and watch tv, hang out with their friends, or do their homework, Reagan heads to intensive training sessions. She practices Krav Maga, runs several miles, and has target practice on a shooting range. Then she can go back to her normal life.

This has been Reagan's life for as long as she can remember. Both of her parents are Black Angels, and they go where the danger takes them. One day they can be happily living in New York, and the next thing Reagan knows, they'll be packing up to move to Ohio. But Reagan's getting to a point where she no longer wants to put up with this constant inconsistency. She wants to live somewhere permanently. She wants to have long-term friendships. She doesn't necessarily want to follow in her parents' footsteps, but it's not so much of a choice as an assumption that she'll do just that.

I've read a few of these "secret teenage spy" books, and I think that You Don't Know My Name is one of the better ones. It's not perfect, for sure (see my three-star rating), but Reagan came across as believable and her actions, though annoying at times, seemed realistic for a teenage girl. As I would expect in a YA story of this nature, there isn't a lot backing up the action. The reasons for certain tactical decisions aren't really thought out, and it's often up to Savior Reagan to rescue the pitiful adults from their incompetence. (I thought they were internationally-renowned secret agents!) I can't really hold this against the book too much, though, because like I said, this is a 320-page YA spy thriller and not one of those massive 1000-page thrillers that patients are always leaving in my waiting room.

The story is generally pretty fast-paced, making it a fairly quick read. There are sections that fumble a bit in the middle, but overall, I had more desire to find out what happened next than I did to put it down. Kristen Orlando certainly didn't dial down the drama and violence for the YA audience, with some pretty shocking scenes toward the end. Keep that in mind if you're sensitive to that kind of thing.

I don't know that I'll read the next book in this series, but You Don't Know My Name was a worthwhile use of my time.

Final rating: ★★★☆☆

Thanks to Netgalley and Swoon Reads for the ARC.

I just love a good spy thriller, especially one with a very strong main character, but one who still acts human. Reagan is a very relatable character, she reminds me of many teens I have known. She is angry and frustrated a lot of times in the book, angry especially at her parents who have pretty much decided her fate and the way her life should go. Reagan has always accepted what her parents wanted for her until recently. She is beginning to realize that there is more to life than the Black Angels, and that maybe she wants something different. We don't see her interacting with her parents much, but there is one very tender scene with her mother before she leaves on a mission. How hard that must be to say good-bye to your parents and not be sure that you will see them again.

Her relationship with Luke, the boy next door, is very sweet and romantic. They have known each other for awhile, before they start to have feelings for each other, so it was nice to see their friendship blossom into something more. I have known kids who have moved around a lot because of family circumstances, mostly military, and it is always hard on them. But Reagan's moving is much more difficult as she changes identities each time they move, and has to sever ties with everyone, not able to keep in touch with them. Luke is the first person she feels really knows her and they do have a special relationship which just grows stronger.

This is a solid debut novel by this author and I am looking forward to reading more about Reagan and Luke and the Black Angels.

This was a DNF for me. Unfortunately, I am not the audience for this book. I initially picked this up because I thought it would be kick-ass and fun, but there was more focus on being in high school. The first few chapters of the book were slow and it didn't suck me in as I hoped.

This fast paced read was exactly what I needed when I felt an oncoming slump approaching. I needed something I could dive into and only want to come out when I was going to sleep. And this did exactly that for me.
Reagan has never had a "normal" life. She's been bounced around from house to house and town to town, all becasue of what her parents do for a living. But now she's finally grown to like the place where they are most recently. But unfortunately for her, her parents are Black Angels, some super spies. They seem to be forcing her to choose the life they did, when suddenly she's not so sure she wantst that anymore.
From the beginning I fell for this book. The first line was talking about target practice and homework and I just thought that was cool lol It only continued to get better from there. The fast pace of the novel and everything that kept haappening was making me turn the pages fast enough to get whiplash lol There was so much going on and I loved it all!
I also really liked the romance. I was heartbroken at some times, but overall I was really happy with how Orlando put it together. I LOVED Luke and I loved everything about them together. They really made a good team.
But unfortunately as much as I did like, there were also things I wasn't a fan of. For instance, all the social media sites, and things like Apple iPhones are mentioned instead of just saying smart phones or something. With all the names and everything listed, this book is dure to date itself. Ler's hope everyone reads and loves it before then.
I also didn't like how it seemed to be everything happened for the plot to further itself along. Like paretns were missing at the exact right time. A friend comes outside at the exact right time. It even got to a point where I was even rolling my eyes because it happened so often. Maybe next time, have things a little more difficult for the characters totry and adapt to each other.
To be honest, I really liked this book and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. I need to know what happesns to them and how they're coping with the end.

This book was definitely a page-turner! If your a fan of Ally Carter's Gallagher Girls series then this book should be on your TBR list. Reagan is such a strong, intelligent and brave heroine. The way her vulnerability is displayed as she struggles with anxieties and fears about her future as a spy makes her authentic and relatable. I love her and Luke! The romance draws you in and then the suspense kicks up. Even though I parts of it somewhat predictable towards the end, I still couldn't put it down.

Reagan has been training to be a spy since before she could walk. At 18 she has to decide if she's going to go to college and lead a normal life, or follow her legacy and training as a Black Angel and powerful spy - working for the most powerful secret agency in the world. Falling for Luke, the boy next door, complicates the issue. When a mission goes wrong, Reagan is forced to grow up even faster than she already has and put her training to use. Just how much can a teenager handle, no matter how prepared she is supposed to be for such situations?

Full five stars as I couldn't put this book down - basically read it in one sitting. It starts off with a bang and rarely lets up. This is the author's debut novel and it's extremely addicting. It's part young adult/teen angst, part spy, part emotion and part action. I found myself completely immersed in Reagan's world by the end of the novel. Book 2? Sign me up please! This is perfect if you're looking for an entertaining quick read.

As an adult (31 years old) who enjoys reading YA, this one felt a little too young for me, largely due to the narrator's voice. I could see high school readers enjoying this one a lot though, especially because of the action and the protagonist's sassiness.

Thank you to Swoon Reads and Netgalley for a copy of the eARC in exchange for a fair review.

Whew where to start... Reagan is the daughter of two Black Angel operatives. They have raised her to be one of them. She knows multiple forms of self-defense techniques and can shoot better than most adults. Their covered is burned when an assassin invades their house one night. So after grabbing their go bags they flee into the night.

They end up in New Albany, Ohio and stay for over a year where Reagan makes real friends and even has a boy (sort of) they are RGF (real good friends). She evens begins to question whether this life is for her. But when a mission goes bad and a girl that looks like her is taken. Reagan has to decide to if this is the life for her and can she save her parents?

I loved every minute of this book. I started it and couldn't stop it and when it was done I wanted more. Reagan is a total badass, I for real loved her. Luke had to be the perfect guy for her. I was so rooting for them. When the action picked up I was on the edge of my seat wondering was going to happen.

I was also heartbroken at times too, but well spoilers. It kind of made me think of The Fixer, and the show the Alias (note I haven't actually watched it but I know the premise). Black Angel's aren't spies, they rescue people in a super secret spy kind of way. When Reagan began to question the life I could totally understand it. Who wants to have their whole life mapped out for them? Who wants to live a lie from the beginning? I mean it was okay for her parents because they didn't start out their lives like that and they were able, to be honest with each other. But Reagan only had that with her family. Her life outside of the house was a complete lie.

I for one can't wait for book 2 I am excited to see where this goes!

I am reviewing this eARC, which I got through Netgalley.

This book was supremely frustrating, but her are the basics behind the story.

Reagan's parents are part of this super secret/super awesome CIA like organization. They go in and help hostage negotiation and other stuff like that. However, because they work in such a treacherous career, the family is constantly moving and changing identities. Reagan's family has landed in Columbus, Ohio where she has begun making friends and a potential boyfriend, who she doesn't want to lose. Until her parents are kidnapped and the kidnappers want to find and torture her. Reagan knows she is the only one qualified enough to get her parents back.

I super hate when characters conveniently know everything they possible need to know. I especially hate when the untrained character has more skilled the overly trained adults, it super makes sense (not). I found Reagan whiny and unbelievable. Many of the action sequences seemed unbelievable and the setting didn't feel right for me.

As a fan of any spy-related book out there, I knew I would love You Don’t Know My Name before I even picked it up. This intense thriller starts off with a bang and never loses the momentum. I loved the main character’s strength and sensitivity and the more complex and serious aspects of the book. I am sure that everyone will love this believable story!

You Don’t Know My Name is a fast-paced thriller about a girl who is a member of a secret society and must rescue her parents who have been kidnapped. I loved the concept of a secret agency and reading about not only the intense battle scenes, but also the extensive security measures. I also appreciated how Kristen Orlando has made sure that everything about the Black Angels is logical and believable, which can really make or break a book for me. If you are a fan of spy thrillers, you will definitely love this book!

Reagan is such a brave and badass main character. She’s not afraid to break the rules and do whatever it takes to save her parents. What I especially loved about Reagan is how she is portrayed as a real and relatable character. She never had a choice regarding her life as a Black Angel and dreads having to move away and using yet another fake name. Her sensitivity added a lot to the book and made it that much more enjoyable to read.

One of my favourite things about You Don’t Know My Name is how serious it actually is. This isn’t just a book about fighting and executing heists, as it may seem. Reagan has to make a lot of tough choices throughout the book, such as leading the life her parents do or following her own dream. There is also a big theme of family and the lengths a daughter would go to to see her parents again. I feel like these aspects make the book even more complex and I enjoyed being able to relate to the story more because of them.

You Don’t Know My Name is a spy thriller that contains a strong yet sensitive main character. Although the book may seem simple, there are some pretty big themes and aspects that bring so much to the story. I would definitely recommend this book, especially to fans of authors like Ally Carter.

Kristen Orlando delivers in her debut, You Don't Know My Name, and I absolutely LOVED this book! It's been awhile since I've found myself sitting on the edge of my seat, not able to stop turning the pages in a book.

The story immediately brings you into Reagan's thrilling life as her family is being forced into their panic room, thanks to an assassin invading their home. Opening up with this scene was genius, in my opinion. I wasn't really sure why all of this was happening to them, but I did know I needed this family to be safe. I immediately connected to both Reagan and her parents as their lives are on the line. Every emotion she felt, I was feeling along with her.

The story slows down as we get to know Reagan a little better.. I loved the girl. She's intelligent, brave, fierce, basically everything you want in a strong heroine. She felt relatable when she showed her more vulnerable side because anyone would break down in the situations she's put in. I'm not going to lie.. There were some heartbreaking moments, like YES GIRL BREAK DOWN. You need to let those tears loose, just let it out. . .

Besides Reagan, all of the characters were interesting! There wasn't one character that I didn't like.. Well, except the evil ones. Her friends, parents, and everyone in her life were great.

Let's talk about the adorableness that is Luke.. Okay, and the romance! What did I enjoy most about the book's slower pace in the beginning? Yes, the sweet blooming romance that brought all the swoons. GAHHH, there is a scene that is just perfect and made me wish I could hug these two for being so cute!! But.. seriously Luke is just a great character outside of the romance. He's way more than a love interest and I was so happy to see that! They make a great team and I promise you will be happy with all the feels he brings to Reagan's story.

As the story progresses, the plot grows and the twists don't stop until the very end! There's not much I can say without spoiling it, but I will say that my heart was racing as I continued to read this book.. Probably why I couldn't stop reading. I found Orlando's writing to be stunning and her descriptions were perfect.. Just the right amount of suspense without dragging anything out! I'm looking forward to all of her future work!

Overall, I loved this book. I wasn't sure what I was expecting as I began reading this story.. But I got a fun, thrilling emotional ride! I think readers will immediately connect with Reagan and her family, bringing them to root for these characters until the very end. If you're looking for a thrilling book with great characters (even a coming-of-age story underneath it all) then I highly recommend this book!

The idea of a teen spy intrigued me right away. I didn't think it would be as intense as it turned out to be.

Reagan is the daughter of Black Angels. They are an elite group specially trained to rescue and protect. She has been training her entire life to join them. But now, at 17 and a senior in high school, she realizes she may want MORE. And that more is a life of her own choosing — a 'normal' life that allows for friendship, love, and an everyday job. The story focuses mainly on Reagan and her daily life. School, friends... and the boy next door (Luke) who she's grown to have feelings for. But she realizes it can never be; not if her course to the Black Angels stays intact.

I loved so many things about this story. We get glimpses into a secret life: weapons, panic rooms, training. We get to see that as cool as it all seems, sometimes the sacrifices might not be worth it. We get to see the reality of a spy's life; how it's not all cool and collected, but filled with anxiety and worry. We get to see how relationships can never develop because they are never meant to last. And, we see the pain of losing someone who sees the real us.

In the beginning, I wasn't sure what exactly would happen. I assumed Reagan would still be torn in deciding between the secret life and a normal one. I thought the romance aspect between her and Luke would be a big focus by the end. But oh, it's so much crazier and more intense than that! As Reagan begins to notice people and things feeling off, you almost become hyperaware that something HUGE is going down. But when it's nearing the end of the story, you're pretty sure it's not going to happen this time around. But it does. And it's so good! I admit parts were probably a bit far-fetched for people to believe, but it's fiction and the story is engaging. The last 20% or so had me on edge, glued to the pages.

You Don't Know My Name has the perfect blend of romance, relationships, suspense, thrill, and action for every reader. I was completely invested in these characters and their story. The ending still has my eyes bugging out of my head. I definitely need the sequel ASAP. Pick this one up on release day!
