Although I know the story of the Christmas Carol, I wasn't really sure what to expect with this book, I wasn't sure how the modern setting would work for the story. I was pleasantly surprised. Scrooje is very believable as a modern day version of Dicken's famous miser.
The book is funny and well written. The only place that didn't really work for me, was the character of Belle. I found her a bit annoying and to be honest I didn't think that she was that much better than Scrooje, she was quite happy to have him throw over the top parties that would cost a fortune, she'd just like him to appease her conscience by being charitable as well as over the top.
Over all though, this was a good, fun take on the Christmas Carol story.
