Margo is a little girl who likes to do lots of things. The problem is she does not think before doing some of them. She starts by doing a gluing project and Mom points out that she could get messy. Then there is the time she gave the pet a tour of the house and it was never seen again. One day they go to mall and Mom stops at the pet shop and at first Margo is scared and anxious with all the noises and her imagination runs away with her. After finding the cause for the noises she calms down and gets a big surprize. I found the illustrations detailed and helped a lot with the telling of the story. I think this would be a great storytime book.
Cute. Short. A sweet but rambunctious little girl who tends to act before thinking (when playing with glue or swinging too high on the swing set) accompanies her mom to the pet shop. There, they encounter a friendly dog who comes home with them as a new pet.
Little Margo has an imagination out of control, and it's causing her a great deal of anxiety. The illustrations in this book are mixed media and very detailed with lots of little hints at how Mother will help Margo solve her imagination and anxiety problem. Children will enjoy the clever rhymes and Margo's facial expressions as she contemplates her various phobias.
I was gratified to read that the solution was to focus her energy on something outside of herself, something that would need her to take care of it -- a dog. I am glad the solution wasn't psychotherapy and drugs, as are so oft prescribed nowadays. Truly, serving others helps to put one's anxieties and phobias into perspective and gives a person something to focus on rather than one's self.
