I really enjoyed Jane and Nicholas's story! I loved watching them chase down Lady Margaret and falling in love along the way. The was a quick, enjoyable read!
This trio of Governess books is sweet and spicy. In each of the books, the Governess in question is doing her job, raising a society family’s children for them. The job requires that the employee keep her head down, repress her own personality, and watch out for wayward impulses, family members and co-workers. For the most part, Elizabeth, Mary, and Jane are stellar at their jobs, except for that minor matter of keeping their own personalities repressed.
Elizabeth is in love with the family physician (Wicked). Mary with the master of her house (Wanton), and Jane with Sir Nicholas Hollings (Wild). The trio have each other’s love and support as they work through the obstacles between them and their individual HEAs.
Jane is the unfortunate governess to Lady Margaret. Fed up of her parents running her life she decides to runaway with a fortune hunter. But Jane will have none of it and when she finds out that her charge has made off with a handsome Baron's stallion she decides that she'll travel with him in order to rescue Margaret from herself. But Nicholas is a kind and considerate man and she quickly falls for him.
This is a really light read that you can read quickly in one sitting. Though not as interesting as the two previous novellas in the series, it still has its charm. It's a nice closure to this trilogy. All the previous characters come back (or are mentioned in the case of Elizabeth's husband).
This was a quick read, and it flowed well. I enjoyed the characters but there could have been more chemistry between them.
Unfortunately this never downloaded to my kindle. Cannot review unfortunately
The Governess was Wild by Julia Kelly
A governess relies on her reputation. They are the women at the top of their field. These three woman are friends through their work and their circumstance.
Jane Ephram knows her charge. She knows she is in love with a totally unsuitable gentleman. She knows she has run away to elope. All she needs to do is to find Lady Margaret and return her to her family’s bosom. As she begins her initial search for her charge, Jane runs into Sir Nicholas. He is looking for the thief who stole his horse. The horse he desperately needs for breeding purposes so that he has money for his extended family.
Jane and Nicholas pair up to search for Lady Margaret and the horse, of course figuring that Lady Margaret took the horse. As they are not married, they need to pretend to be married as there is no companion to keep all things above board, and they need to keep Lady Margaret’s flight a secret for her reputation’s sake. They finally catch up with Lady Margaret and the man she was going to elope with to Gretna Green. The road trip for Jane and Nicholas is eye opening as they search for the horse and charge, and they also have to fight their attraction to each other. This means that Jane and Nicholas end up in those couple situations, which gets them closer and closer.
This road trip story is another good read from Ms Kelly. The three woman are friends and rely on each other for advice and to bounce ideas off each other. It is nice to see that friendship continue after their respective marriages.
