I'm glad I got an eARC, but I'm sorry it did not work out for us. The main character just rubbed me wrong. I have a hard time reading about a character that seem "innocent and beautiful so its okay" but is treating the people around her terribly. She was just a very unlikeable character to read about so I found myself rolling my eyes over and over.

I tried to re-read this book because I wanted to give it a second chance, I really wanted to love it, but still I could not get into it. The story did not catch my attention as I imagined it would, even though the plot was the one thing that made me request this title. I do not like to leave novels unfinished, that is why after some time I decided to start it again, but in this case I think it is just that I was not meant to read The Backup. Do not get me wrong, the plot and the characters are just fine, they have their own personality and background. However, I could not connect with them and, as I see it, this is essential to fully enjoy a novel.

Good Storyline. I liked Montgomery University and thought it set a good stage for this series. I look forward to more from Renard.

Couldn't finish the book. Didn't even reach the third chapter. The protagonist was overly annoying and just downright insufferable. Made me lose interest and just not care for the characters or the story-line.
