The author, Genevieve Shaw Brown is a working mom with a great job, husband and kids and struggles to get it all done. This is something that most of us can relate to in our daily lives as well.
The book focuses on key areas of life such as eating, exercising, physical and mental health and how we, as parents, don't do for ourselves what we do for our kids.

Now, there are good aspects of the book and helpful tips about letting go. However if you are someone (like me, guilty), who hasn't been doing the best job of being the perfect mom to your kids either, then you can come away from the book feeling like you are failing yourself, your significant other, AND your kids.

That doesn't mean that you should not read it and enjoy it, I did. But I also know that everyone has a different situation and will have a different take on the ideas.

Thankfully I didn't need this book as many other moms do, but was still a good reminder to prioritize self-care. I enjoyed the balance of research sprinkled in with the author's personal anecdotes, though I did have a hard time relating to her economic status.
