The Under The Hood Boxed Set was a fun and quick read. It was sweet, sexy, had a little bit of a mystery and three wonderful women who don’t need a man to depend on. Each, in their own ways, was strong and totally capable of taking care of themselves. But, when the right man comes into the picture, they fall long and hard and can’t help but hang on for one hell of a wild ride.
Alice, Melody and Betty are the owners of Under the Hood. An all-female, catering to females’, garage. Each have their own niche and the work together like a well-oiled machine. Alice was raised in a garage, Melody is a whiz with the books and under the hood and Betty always wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps. Together they have taken the town of Meadowsweet by storm.
We start off with Alice and Mark. The hot divorce attorney and the hotter mechanic. A little misunderstanding leads them to a whirlwind romance that ends with a big misunderstanding. It’s hard for Alice to trust men since she was burned so bad. But, Mark’s involvement with the possibility of them losing the garage, has her really reeling and wondering if she put her trust in the wrong man, again. Mark doesn’t believe in happily-ever-afters. How could he when all he deals with is the end of the marriage … the mistrust, the hate? But, there is something about Alice that has him wanting to take a chance. He needs to come clean and he needs to make sure she doesn’t lose the business. In the end, a little bit of truth, a good bottle of wine, a lot of romance and a forgiving woman, gives Mark and Alice exactly what they both needed.
A freak accident has Alice off of work and who better to step in and help out with the garage than her brother, Heath. He’s the eldest in a family of mechanics and offered to lend a hand.
Onto Melody and Heath. What a story that was. A frigid woman and the ladyslayer. You couldn’t find two people who aren’t made for each other more than these two. Heath is here to help at the garage, hot help Melody get over her flinching every time a man touches her. There is just something about her though and when she offers to help him with his “little” project, he can’t help but take her up on the hike in the woods to photograph nature at its finest. He can’t help but take a few wonderful pictures of this beautiful woman that is starting to get under his skin.
Unfortunately, when the Ice Queen asks him to make love so that she could get used to men touching her, he says “no”. The ladyslayer just may have found the one woman who could bring him to his knees. As his dreams start coming true and Melody finally opens up to him, the inevitable happens and he has to leave. Now, the ball is in Melody’s court and she has some major decisions. Let him go to the Amazon or tell him exactly how she feels.
Unfortunately, there was no lead in to Betty and Joe but I loved this story. The feisty mechanic and the FBI agent/carpenter. They were wonderful together … fun, explosive and sexy. Betty and her amateur sleuthing, Joe with is professional. Together they are chasing the elusive Charmer and she is either going to be the death of him or drive him crazy with her sex-appeal. But, the information she is providing is turning out to be the best they have had in years and just may lead to his arrest. One stupid mistake could ruin the whole case and Joe just doesn’t know if he could forgive Betty for making it. But, she forgave him when he owned up to his biggest mistake, why shouldn’t he. It’s time for a new life for him and there is no better place to do that than in Meadowsweet. But, will she take him back?
Like I said, I really enjoyed this Anthology. It was a really easy read. It was wonderful how she was able to get me totally involved in each of these stories. They were all very well written and detailed which amazes me with novella’s. It’s the sign of one very good author. All three stories were extremely entertaining and humorous and she has me looking forward to more from her.
These were such fun stories.
I loved having a box set so I got to enjoy more than just one.
It offered such fun characters, and such great plots.
I really loved taking a break and getting lost in these books.
They gave me a great break from reality.
I normally like Bliss titles; they’re short and fluffy and normally leave me with the warm and fuzzies. This one not so much. I only made it through half of the first book before it became a DNF.
Not only was the writing lackluster, Alice and her friends annoyed me. They started a women only garage because they were tired of men talking down to them when they had their cars worked on, then Alice breaks the rules and tries to, heaven forbid dare I say it, work on a man’s car. The shock and horror of it. Yeah, I may have pulled an eye muscle from all the eye rolling. Then there was Mark. He acts like he doesn’t know how to fix his car because he wanted to a knight in distress then he goes on and on about feeling bad about how he lied to Alice.
This was a fun, easy read! I enjoyed the stories and romance.
