My library purchased this book. However, due to the low rating on Goodreads, I will not be finishing it.

Maybe I'm not the intended audience for this title, as a 52-year-old, married, parent of grown children, because it didn't resonate that much with me. It's an intriguing concept and well-written, though, and I do love an epistolary novel so it will remain as a book to "hand sell' to the right reader.

Reminded me a bit of Where'd You Go Bernadette. Two siblings communicate with each other through emails. Matilda is falling in love, but unfortunately her relationship was begun on a pretty big lie. Harry, on the other hand, begins a relationship with a student that just might violate some laws, and also makes a terrible decision that will affect his life. The siblings unique sense of humor and how they come together to help each other out. Funny read.

I didn't buy into this one. I was just... meh. And then the ending had implications that made me uncomfortable and I'm just very eh about this book.

I normally love the style of letters and emails to tell an entire story but in this case it fell short. Harry and Matilda lacked distinct voices and if not for the changing of font I really wouldn't have been able to know who was who without looking at salutations. Both were also bland. English professors and wedding photographers sound like careers that would be very intriguing, but the two of them did not live up to expectations.

If you asked me to describe a plot I'm not really sure where I'd go. The lie referenced in the blurb was barely a minor subplot point and didn't create the drama I expected. I'm not sure if they ever learned who they really were.

The ending just really killed all of my enjoyment of this novel. I guess there was foreshadowing that I chose to write off as my imagination, but ultimately it was weird and uncomfortable. I've read a book with a similar topic where the author made it okay, but this felt left field.

Interestingly, this was originally done as an Instagram novel. Fascinating concept. I wish the story had worked more for me.

Thanks NetGalley for the Advanced Readers copy!

I wasn't too sure about this one the entire time I was reading it, and honestly I am still a little on the fence. However, I will say it was fresh and new and unlike many other books. This is how people communicate now...email and text so that was real.

After the first few sections I got used to the dialog between the twins and I got more into their story. In the end I was connecting to the characters and getting to know them, so maybe it just took me awhile to get into the story. It's been about a week since I finished the story and when I think about it now I feel happy. The story line was somewhat predictable but again a lot of fun.

Overall, give it a try. It was pretty good and the characters were a lot of fun. 3/5 stars on GoodReads.

Thanks to Netgalley, I received an advance copy of this book. I didn't realize at the time it was in email format. It was banter back and forth between two twins.

I'm not sure how I felt about the book. There were funny comments that I enjoyed because I'm close in age to the characters. But I'm not sure if everyone will get some of the jokes. Some moments were laugh out loud, and other times I found myself skipping some of the paragraphs.

The family dynamic was interesting. There were a couple twists. I'm not sure how I feel about the ending. I hope it wasn't leaning towards what I think it might. Overall it wasn't bad. I'm not sure it would be a book I would purchase, maybe borrow.

I was very excited about reading this book, a new epistemological novel utilizing emails between siblings, but I must admit to being disappointed. Perhaps I'm too old to identify with Hulin's main characters, twins, Matilda and Harry. I found the book superficial and not especially arresting.

The last book I read using the conceit of letter writing was Dear Committee Members, by Julie Schumacher which I found incredibly engaging. So, Matilda' s angst and Harry's flaws didn't move me.

The big revelation about their twiness was left hanging. I am sorry to say I couldn't recommend this to any mature readers, though my students might enjoy it.

DNF at 33%. Just cannot get invested in the characters, who I'm not liking or finding interesting. Decided to read some reviews to see if it was worth hanging in there, but what I found confirmed my decision to bail out now.

Interesting story but the e-mail format gets tired fast.
