I honestly could have used more back story on Abigail and Eli because I wasn't 100% invested in their relationship or story.
It was mostly smut with little plot and a hero who barely talks during the whole book. So if that's what you're looking for give this a read

I received a free copy of this book via netgalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
For those of you G-Rated folks - ear muffs and eye muffs because it’s going to get a little steamy.
For me the steamier the better, so buckle up, because this book even made me blush! First off there is a lot of sex, like gratuitous levels but I’m here for it!
Elijah is this gentle giant, who works on Abigail’s ranch. He barely talks to her, but has a way with horses. He works to tame wild horses, whispering in their ears, gaining their trust. Enough said! 😉
After a date gone wrong, Elijah steps in to help Abigail and that is when their relationship shifts.
Eli has some trauma from his past and hasn’t been close with a woman in the past so when they get together it’s like he is making up for lost time. He has to have her in every way, position, and he likes to dominate. No surface is safe with these two, and boy howdy am I glad for that!
While I say it was gratuitous I also say I loved the under story of Eli’s upbringing, how it molded him, how protective he was, and he did everything not to hurt her, emotionally or physically. Also the story of the small town and how they treated him, how Abigail stood up for him. His story broke my heart but seeing his gentle, caring side was so sweet.
I am giving this 4 1/2 stars, because it was hella hot, my only complaint was he was a virgin and you know how I feel about virgins. He comes out swinging so all was redeemed. He even googled scenes in order to make it good for her, heart melted. I also loved his after care, he took such good care of her always ensuring intimacy, which was so nice to finally see in a book.
So yeah, if you like the hot and heavy romances go read this book! Have a fan nearby because it is smoking hot! 🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was provided a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. This book was STEAM personified as well as having a good story line. The connection between Abigail and Elijah was nothing less than HOT. The relationship kept flowing and growing.
Great storyline and steam. Thank you netgalley and publisher for this arc in exchange of an honest review.
Sherilee Gray does some absolutely brilliant work in Breaking Him – there is angst, romance, a plot that has you quite invested and two characters who literally steam up your e-reader.
This is told in the POV of Abigail – the boss and Ranch Owner of Elijah Hays. She has been running the ranch ever since her father died and she inherited it along with Elijah. Now she is a strong capable woman; but even strong capable women have issues sometimes making the right decisions.
Elijah Hays, on the other hand, has a past that is quite well known and gossiped about in the small town; a town that is as vicious as it is helpful. It is the quintessential town, where secrets don’t remain secrets for long, and a life is infinitely more interesting when you businesses to poke your nose into!
This was quite a short read really, but it hooked me right in! The connection between Abigail and Elijah was so electric, that I had to actually fan myself to cool down a little bit ;)
While most of the book ( I would say about 60%) focused on the physical relationship between Abigail and Elijah, but it wasn’t as if their emotional connection was ignored. Their connection with each other was intertwined to their expression of that connection, so honestly, for the first time, I did not mind the lack of communication between the Main Characters.
What felt rushed though, was the plot – I get that Elijah was the “strong, silent” type, but the twists and turns happened a little too fast for me, it could have been done in a most languid manner – though the writing itself was brilliant!
And yes, I WOULD HAVE LOVED a POV of Elijah – because that man’s mind would have been a minefield of emotions!
This was a fun read for an afternoon in on a Sunday – seriously, I finished the book in like an hour and a half – with a hot cup of coffee and calming music playing in the background! :)
I liked it.enough to finish it but I wouldn't really recommend it. I didn't connect with the characters and the plot wasn't solid enough to captivate me.
Great storyline! Well developed characters and difficult to put down.
4 out of 5 stars! Elijah (Eli) is a hulking handsome man with a dark past, yet he is the one man that makes Abigail (Abi) feel safe no matter what. Therefore, even though it feels like Abigail's world is falling around her ears, when Abigail decides to show Elijah what true affection is and that it's worth it no matter what is going on becomes one of her top priorities. Yet what will happen when the town feels Elijah isn't right for her, will she allow everyone to separate them or will their relationship grow because of it?
This intensely erotic romance instantly wraps you into Abigail and Elijah's world and their growing relationship. In addition, it was so SWEET how Elijah handled Abigail, he's definitely a gentle giant at least when it comes to her. I couldn't get enough, I got addicted to the intensity.
I recommend this novel to those looking for a HOT, passionate erotic contemporary romance.
