\What is this series? When I first started the series, I was intrigued, I was invested, this series sounded like it was going to be so good and it did........but only in the beginning.
I like Bronwen Evans writing. I've read books of hers in the past and enjoyed myself a lot, but this series wasn't it. With each new book added to the series, the story began to fall apart and the climax was not at all what I expected, noir liked.
This elusive Mrs. V does not seem to have the smarts to actually thwart the Scholars for as long as she had. I was looking for something older and more composed. Instead, she's really young (which brings into question the timeline of the series) and extremely childish.
In conclusion, this series went downhill fast, and the romance between the two main characters was not believable since the only thing between them was liking how they looked and not their personality.
This book blew me away! It was so very well written and very complex. The story moved at a fast pace, and the characters were wonderful! This story had intrigue and suspense, very strong emotion and villains that you want to see come to justice. Of course, I cannot tell you if it all works out. You will have to read the story for yourself to find out. The hero is very tortured and vulnerable. The heroine is courageous and feisty. The sub-characters are great and add depth to the story. I loved this book and highly recommend it.
I've been waiting for Arend and Isobel's story and Evans did not disappoint. This was a wonderful conclusion to the treat against the Libertine Scholars.
Arend certainly didn't trust Isobel since she was the step daughter of the woman out to destroy the Scholars and this definitely added some conflict to the story. I really enjoyed watching the two of them work together to to solve their mutual problem (even if Arend didn't think Isobel could be trusted).
I'm so glad that Evans decided to continue with this story even though villain had been dealt with. I'm excited to read the next book in the series, A Love to Remember.
Isobel and Arend are woven into this story built on so much mistrust and misunderstandings. The suspense drew me quickly into this story and I liked the way the story is built within such a strong series. I liked that Arend had to work to get everyone to realize she was not a bad guy like her step-mom and to work with Arend to find learn about her father's death.
3.5 stars - this was a good historical romance, and the author did a lot - especially with a relatively short book!
This book is part of a larger story arc in which a group of friends is hounded by, and hunting, a villian intent on destroying their lives. The author did a nice summary at the front, which helped me feel caught up. I liked the whole group of characters, and it seems that they each have an interesting story to tell. I also liked that the heroine was able to articulate what she wanted in a relationship as far as love, trust, etc. , and that she communicated what she was thinking. One of my romance pet-peeves is when the main characters keep silly secrets from each other. Although the hero did have a secret, they both knew why he wasn't communicating. The story had a lot of action, and I'm glad netgalley gave me a copy to review.
Very nice story line. Read it in a day. Highly recommend.

I loved this book -This is the sixth book in the series & is the final ‘Disgraced Lords’ story Arend Aubury, Lord Labourd. Arend has intrigued me since the beginning of the series and I was desperate for his story! I enjoyed the twist of unexpected things and how Evans wrapped the series up.
Arend Albury is a baron and trusts none except his Libertine brothers and their wives. Especially women. Arend is a Libertine Scholar and only his fellow Libertine Scholars does Arend have faith in. Arend feels responsible for the villain seeking to destroy his friends. Lady Isobel Thompson wants to escape her stepmother and find a husband. But first she has to get justice for her father. Isobel must go to Arend for help to prove her stepmother Victoria is responsible for the fire that killed Isabel’s father. Arend must play this game until he finds out which side Isabel is really on. Arend tells Isobel they will have a fake engagement to be the reason why they are together. Arend had lived in poverty after his family left France. Arend felt no one could love him when he couldn’t love himself. Especially when a beautiful woman made him part of his best friend’s murder. For five years no one knew what had happened to Arend until he made his fortune in Brazil from the diamond mines. Isobel was attracted to Arend but she knew she was only a means to an end to defeat Victoria. Isobel doesn’t care about Arend’s past she loves him for the man he is now. The Libertine scholars including Arend believe Victoria is behind the attacks they are experiencing. Isobel has fallen for Arend and allows him to use her and she knows Arend doesn’t trust her.
I liked the intrigue in this story. I felt bad what had happened to Arend that he didn’t trust anyone but the Libertine Scholars and their wives. I felt for Isobel also for the loss of her father especially since her stepmother was the blame for his death. I liked the plot of this story. I liked that no matter what Arend wanted to do whatever he had to to protect his Libertine brothers. I liked the characters in this story and the ins and outs of this story and I recommend. I also got to learn about the Libertine Scholars who I had heard of.
As I've stated on numerous reviews on here-I am a big (HUGE) fan of historical romances. I usually find something to like about them and give at least 3 stars even if they aren't the most convincing or creative plot. So, I really hate to find one I can't find much to recommend it. This one was just not very well written and the plot was all over the place. I mean, tortured hero and all is a fine character but I really was tired of listening to him tell himself over and over how he is not worthy of anyone ever, and when he finally decides to go for the heroine it is such a quick turn about without any real, new reason. I mean, we have to read his thoughts on this over half the book and then bam, he changes his mind and the heroine is all falling into his arms. And the heroine-how much of a doormat can she be? The characters were not good alone or together. I really struggled reading this and ended up skimming the last of it.
RATED 3.5!!
I love love love author Bronwen Evans. Although not my absolute favorite of her DISGRACED LORDS series, A NIGHT OF FOREVER is very notable. Strong details, relatable characters and a captivating storyline all make it a very enthralling read. Every book in this series, including this A NIGHT OF FOREVER, is a keeper!
I received a free eBook through Net Galley, in exchange for an honest review of this book.
I enjoyed this book, but was left with a few questions, which I think that is because I have not read the all books in this Disgraced Lords series… I picked it up thinking it could still be read as a stand-alone. It really needs to be read as the sixth book in the series. The writing and the storyline in this installment is consistent and engaging. I enjoyed the characters and found that they were well described, as usual with this author's works. This is a very well-written story. The author doesn't leave subplots unattended and and goes to great lengths to bring the reader along. It is my fault that I am missing some of this story's connection — not the author's. Once I finish reading the rest of the previous books in the series I had missed--and now very much want to because of this wonderful story -- I will probably reread this book.
I have read several of Bronwen's books and she is a wonderful writer. But for now...a 4-star rating on the writing and the story. That could change for the better when I finish the series!
Arend Aubury, Baron Labourd is part of the Libertine Scholars, but feels himself to only be on the outside because he doesn't deserve to be a part of the group. There is a woman set on destroying all of them because of the actions of their fathers. Now they know who she is but need to prove it.
Lady Isobel Thompson believes that her stepmother killed her father but needs help proving it. Her new friends could help because they also have reason to hate the woman.
Our hero is very emotionally damaged by his past, and has serious trust issues. Our heroine is totally innocent and can't understand why those closest to her can't trust her.
This is part of a series that is better read in order, although you could read any one of them on it's own and enjoy it. There is a lot of danger , intrigue and some very sexy scenes. Our villains are very dangerous and have no scruples. Anyone who gets in the way will be killed or used to get revenge. A very exciting and surprising climax to the series. I have read most, but not all of them and loved every one.
Read this one out of order and still enjoyed it, although I think reading in order would make Arend's distrust of Isobel more believable and real.
I loved reading the fantastic and fabulous historical romance by the wonderfully talented Bronwen Evans. I received a copy from NetGalley.
Lady Isobel Thompson wants to solve the mystery of who murdered her father and discover if her stepmother is the culprit. Isobel meets Arend Aubury with questions regarding his her stepmother, Arend's enemy.
Read the highly recommended, beautifully written, a must read romance of Isobel and Arend.
