When I read the premise of Claiming the Enemy, I loved it. Who wouldn't love a book with sexy ER doctors who go from enemies to lovers? At first, Piper Dawsonseemed to be just the heroine to shake up stiff Alexander "Ace" Lennox's world. I liked the vindictive ex and the controlling mother. I liked the hospital. I liked the hero and heroine. But I didn't love them, and I really wanted to.

There were a couple things about this story that bothered me. The first thing was there was so much sex. I would have liked more scenes of emotional conflict, ramping up the tension, or actually being doctor's, but after a while it felt like the book was just one sex scene after another. The other thing that bothered me is they were always having sex at the hospital. They rarely seemed to have any actual work to do, which was a little weird for ER doctors. I imagine Claiming the Enemy reads a lot like an episode of Grey's Anatomy. I'd know if I watched the show, but I could never get over the thought of doctor's having sex while people they should be doctoring are sick and/or dying. This book didn't cure me of the weird feeling someone was coding in another room while the hero and heroine were preoccupied with each other.

Although I wish this book was heavier on the romance and lighter on the spice, it was a solid story and a quick read. If you love a super sexy romance with lots of sexy times, doctors who are too busy getting busy to doctor, vindictive ex's, meddling moms, and enemies to lovers, or your jam is Grey's Anatomy in book form, I would highly recommend this book.

Piper Dawson has had a rough life. Raised in foster families, she never felt like she belonged with any family she was with. Because of that, she's learned you have to fight for what you get-no one is going to just give it to you. Now she's working in the ER of a top hospital, almost finished with her residency, she's scouting hospitals to be a doctor at. The problem? Her supervisor. Must he be such an ass on a daily basis? They haven't seen eye to eye from day one and no matter how hard she tries, no one can break through his steel reserve. Probably no recommendations coming from him!

Dr. Lennox, Ace, is the hospital's resident supervisor and he's highly respected in his field. Things haven't been the same for him since he lost his wife three years ago to a drunk driver. Now any women he dates, is just for sex. He won't allow himself to get close to anyone else, ever again. If only his mother would stop with the matchups, he would be happy. One day while he is having lunch with his mother, Piper shows up in need of saving from her ex. Piper kisses Ace and time stops! He sees this as a way both can win, so they pretend to be dating. Get away from ex-throw Mom off her matchmaking game. In reality, both were affected by the kiss and want to do it again. But it would be wrong. They work together- and he's her supervisor for gosh sake!

They decide on one night-just to get their fill and get each other out of their heads. Well one night turns into two, which turns into three, which turns into ... you get the picture!! And boy those sweaty sexy scenes were smoking hot!! Such a dirty talker Ace is and I loved it! Hot Hot Hot!! Piper had no idea the chemistry between them would be so explosive. She's at a loss knowing this could cost her in the end. But they are craving each other like its their next breath! They can't continue though. Piper will leave to another hospital, and Ace doesn't want more than sex. It wouldn't work. Can't work. Or can it???

Well I have to say I was expecting this to go in a vastly different direction. It's billed as a enemy to lovers story, but I didn't get much of the enemy part. We almost dive right into the unexpected relationship. I would've liked more solid foundation of the butting heads part before we dive into the 180 change.

I did, however, thoroughly enjoy reading Ace and Piper's story! Both have hurt in their past which gives them some baggage for each to sort through. I am glad Ms. Hawkeye kept them both grounded. It hit them both fast and hard and literally had them reeling. The characters felt real to me and I was rooting for them to pull it all together.

This fantastic story features Dr. Piper Dawson and Dr. Alexander "Ace" Lennox. He's a tough nut to crack. She only wanted to befriend him. Maybe get him to be a little less cranky. Whoa! She got more than she bargained for when he rescued her at a bar from unwanted attention from another man. Their agreement of short term "sex only" was great…at first. Well, we all know how that turns out. Except this author spins a delicious story around these two and the spark start flying! I love how Ace would always get angry with his mother whenever she'd say anything derogatory about Piper, even before he really got to know her. That's how a real man deals with a meddling mother.

Great story with fabulous characters and scorching hot chemistry! I can't wait to read more from this amazing author.

this book started out slow but once it picked up, I was sucked in till the last page. Ace is Piper's boss at the hospital. Not one to talk to others and seeming perpetually grumpy, Piper tries to be nice to Ace but he doesn't want it. When Piper's ex wants her back, she turns to Ace to help her out. Suddenly helping each other out, takes on a life of it's own when feelings become more. Suddenly Ace finds himself in a position that he never wanted but once he's out, he misses Piper and has to figure out how to win her back. A great Brazen book addition!
