A fantastic follow up to a stunning first novel about a character I love from the movies. I really enjoyed the relationship between the two widows and seeing them work together. The action was great and I felt like the book was a solid follow up.
I thoroughly enjoy that Marvel is finding new ways to tell their heroine's stories. It's exciting to see Natasha, Carol, and Ava negotiating the world of SHIELD outside the adventures of the Avengers. They're incredible characters and I'm glad they're bringing them to a new audience in a new medium.
I don't have enough words to describe how much I love this
Margaret has done it again! I have loved her since Beautiful Creatures and am so excited for this stand alone series she is doing. I got to meet her and receive the ARC for the first Black Widow a few years ago at Book Expo. This one did not disappoint as the continuation :)
3.0 If you like the Marvel movies and the M.A.R.V.E.L. Agents of Shield show, then you'll like this follow-up to the 1st Black Widow book. I wasn't as taken with this one as the 1st (lots more angst), but it was still very entertaining.
I wish I had more to say, considering this was a Netgalley copy. But it was predictable, ignored/forgot MCU canon at times, and just didn't have interesting action. I was. It compelled to continue this book at all. If you've read the first one, you've read the second one in my opinion.
I keep trying to love these Black Widow novels, and instead I sorta wind up liking it but not loving them. Which is annoying because I did like the new Iron Man prose novel very much.
This is the second in the Black Widow novel series. Ava and Natasha are out in the field, trying to go after the thin threads and leads to find those who killed Alexei.
Of course, that's only where this book starts. And this novel is anything but straightforward. It's a sort of thrilling race towards the finish, and I was never bored when I was reading the book. Although, I did get itchy. The descriptions towards the beginning of the biting insects in the jungle. Yep, definitely itchy.
Unfortunately the Inquiry reports kept throwing me off. I will say that sometimes they helped the story along a little, but, on the whole almost every time one of them appeared in the text I was thrown out of the flow of the story. Although, I did like the Coulson banter. Heh.
Ooh, and there was even a bit of Captain Marvel, which is never ever a bad thing. Not to mention. Heh, Captain Balloon. (So when do we get an Alpha Flight Prose Novel?? :))
It was a fun read that I definitely never wanted to put down and here and there even surprised me.
I was given this galley through Netgalley on behalf of .Disney Book Group/Marvel Press.
