This is probably better characterized as a gift book or inspirational book than a comic book or graphic novel. It's a series of drawings featuring Brave New Girl, a character who inspires us to be powerful, fearless, and to overcome every obstacle. It's cute and was fun to flip through and would make a good graduation gift to someone who enjoys this kind of book. It's not something I would probably purchase for myself, but I enjoyed looking through it.

Gentle, lovely, and thought-provoking. I won't say anything else, as the best thing would be to read it.

This is a book of quotes with amazing illustrations. At first blush, you might roll your eyes at the quotes and brevity but Lou makes a whole lot of sense.

If you need a quick boost/ pick-me-up, this book is great to make you feel fearless and invincible.

If you want more writing material to read, this book is not for you.

Loved the drawings

Lou Hamilton has a message for girls and women everywhere: Be brave. In her new book of inspiration, Brave New Girl: How to Be Fearless, she wants you to "start to imagine being anything you want to be." With her simple pen-and-ink drawings and brief words of wisdom, encouragement, and inspiration, she spreads positivity and confidence.

Some of the quotes are tried and true ("Reach for the stars." "Take the road less travelled.") Others, if not original, are less commonly heard. ("Step out from your hiding place." "Embrace the loop-the-loop.") By the way, I know many of the challenges girls and women face in the world are different from those that men and boys face, but there's not a thing in here that couldn't inspire a guy.



Brave New Girl is cute and inspiring. Give it to a girl you know who could use a pick-me-up.
