“Pilgrimage: My Search for the Real Pope Francis” by Mark K. Shriver, Random House, 320 pages, $28.

Mark K. Shriver interviewed people who knew Pope Francis as Jorge Mario Bergoglio, a native of Argentina, who was a Jesuit priest.

The book is also about Shriver’s personal journey of faith. He is a member of the Kennedy-Shriver family. His father was Sargent Shriver.

The problem with this book is not a lack of research, it’s a lack of emotional depth. There’s no wow factor. It is more about the author’s travels. The book is disjointed.
