Such a fun read! I loved the main character, and all her antics. I felt her excitement in her career, and also the pain she experienced in her lovelife. I could tell from the little details that this story was written quite a long time ago - that's my only complaint, and it's a small one.
Good In Bed is one of my favorite, go to Chic Lit books. Alternately laughing, crying, and slapping my leg in solidarity with Cannie.
A great, quick, beach read for anyone looking for a decent story.
I loved this book because sometimes you just need an easy, funny light book to read. This was easy to pick up and then I couldn't put it down. This book talks about important topics in an easy to digest manner. Highly recommend to any woman.
Good in Bed is no doubt a Chick-Lit classic. However the first time I read this book, I could not finish it. I was still in high school, around 2007 or 2008. I could not relate to the main character, Cannie, at all. I felt like she needs to grow up (coming from a teen), needs to move on, and she is annoying.
Now that 10 years have passed. When I saw NetGalley is offering the same book for review, I was willing to give it another try. Since I am not a size zero anymore and older, I am hoping I might be able to understand Cannie more. After reading it, most of the original feelings are still there. The book gets boring towards middle, and talk about her journalism career and her past. All the other scenes are good, my favorites are Bruce's column and Moxie. Cannie really needs to moves on, Bruce has explicitly and publicly said he is done with you many times. The ending is predictable. =(
3.5 out of 5 stars
Received a free copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I didn't care for this book. At first it was funny but then it just seemed to do nothing but ramble and switch from one story to the next, all on the whiny side. I read to relax and enjoy and I' did not enjoy this.
This book was just not for me. I have loved other books by Weiner, but I just did not connect to this storyline.
Somehow I had never read this iconic novel - so my huge thanks to NetGalley and the author for sharing Good In Bed with me.
I loved this book, and finished it under two days. It was better than I ever expected, and I found myself so drawn in!
This book was a quick read. I really enjoy this author. The title was not my favorite, but I liked the story. This was a book that I had a difficult time putting down. It flowed and kept my interest.
Jennifer Wiener always tells a story that is funny and makes you think.
This is a great author...we currently have everything that she has published.
I've heard people raving about this book more times than I can count. While I felt like it started off a little slow (for me at least), it ended up being a better book than I imagined it would be.
Don't waste your time unless you like books where the main character is self-loathing and can't function in society. Not my cup of tea at all. Every stereotype is in this book and I didn't care for it.
Good In Bed was interesting at times but it was very repetitive. The same thoughts were going through Cannie's head over and over. She was not really a large woman (size 16) so nothing to whine about all the time. She actually had a pretty good life but didn't seem to appreciate it or her family, friends and so-workers. I was disappointed in it.
Thank you so much for this e-book Jennifer has got to be one of my favorite authors top 5 in fact..I just love her books
Such a feel good story- the character development was impeccable with a cast of loveable, relatable characters that teach us to love ourselves!
Don't dismiss this as Chick lit. This is a book, yes about a chick, but it has a heart underneath its fluff and explores real issues. Engaging and funny.
I've read this book a few times! The characters were easy to relate to, and the storyline did not feel far-fetched.
A great escape from the daily routine! Well written and highly entertaining.
As I was reading this I found myself thinking over and over again that this was just so REAL, that I could actually see this happening to someone I might actually know. This is not a feeling I often get in the books I read, which kept me turning the pages much later than I intended to stay up the night I started it. But then the book took a decided turn into fantasyland, and I was somewhat disappointed. The quality of the writing didn't suffer, but the story became unbelievable for me. I finished the book, but was not entirely happy with what I had read. This is probably one of the biggest reasons I do not enjoy this type of book, nor will I ever.
This is an honest review given in exchange for an ARC from NetGalley.
Loved it now just as much as I did the first time. Bravo to Ms. Wiener for standing the test of time!!
