Worth the Risk was my first novel by Beck. I didn't realize until I started that it was a series. Thankfully it's not one you have to have read the previous books. I enjoyed Gabby and Jackson's courting. Perfect setting for an Autumn read. Jackson's alcoholism seemed extremely prevalent throughout the book and caused Gabby's ex to cause a lot of drama. An enjoyable read, definitely will look into more of Beck's novels

Jackson has every intention of beating alcoholism on his own. Gabby has her hands full with a young child, an aging parent, and her own business. When the two meet, their powerful attraction draws them together where they help one each other become their most whole, creative, and loving selves.

This entire series was an emotional roller coaster! I'm glad the family secret was finally revealed, but at some point a couple has to enjoy being together to make their relationship worth it and I just never saw this from Jackson and Gabby.

This story will make you happy and sad. You will smile, laugh, and cry. Jamie Beck weaves a wonderful tale of a man named Jackson, who is facing demons in his past that have led him to drinking too much. He has decided to take a vacation away from his family and work. He goes to Vermont as an intervention. He works with a counselor through his issues that led him to drinking. Little did he know that his landlord's daughter would play a major role in his intervention.

Gabby has a sweet little boy named Luc. She and Luc live with her father. She runs Gabby's Garden and she helps her father with his rental properties. She has no time to date or spend time with her friends. Gabby's mom left when she was 13. She got hooked on pain pills and alcohol. Gabby acted out in her teenage years. She never married Luc's dad, Noah because he wanted no part of their relationship after she got pregnant.

Gabby knows Jackson will be returning to his home in Connecticut but she cannot deny the attraction she feels for him and he is so sweet with Luc. Gabby has to remind herself that he is just passing through and that she needs to be careful especially since he has an alcohol problem.

Jackson doesn't want to hurt Gabby either. His counselor does not think it is a good idea for him to pursue the relationship. Jackson cannot help himself because Gabby can see right through Jackson and she is not afraid to tell him what she thinks. He believes she loves him and he loves her too.

You will feel sad and hopeful as you watch Jackson work through his past and become the person he wants to be.

I received an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

I tried to get into this book but I just couldn't get into the story. I will look out for more of her books in the future.

This was a good conclusion to the St. James family trilogy. The main characters in this one were Jackson St. James and Gabby Bouchard. This one had everything I would expect in a book by Jamie Beck - great characters, a touching and sweet romance, and an interesting storyline. I'll be interested to see what this author writes next.

Jackson's family had held an intervention because of his drinking and he had left Connecticut and headed to a small town in Vermont to get help and clean up his act. His life was in shambles and he needed to figure things out. His love life was non-existent because he had a hard time trusting anyone, especially a woman. He was facing a lawsuit brought on by a disgruntled former employee. He had a hard time even trusting his family because of some big secret that he just wanted out in the open. He needed to escape to lick his wounds and get some perspective in his life.

Gabby was a young single mother. Her son's father was an absent father whom she had loved but he had dropped her when he found out she was pregnant and wouldn't get an abortion. Now, he was a respected police officer that went through women like most people went through underwear. He had never paid any kind of child support or even taken much of a role in his son's life. Gabby was completely devoted to her son, Luc, to the exclusion of any time for fun or love interest for herself.

When Jackson came to town she began to see things a little differently and realized how much of a difference a good man could make in her life, as well as her son's. But, Jackson came with some baggage and things that he needed to resolve. Jackson trusted Gabby and opened up to her in a way he hadn't experienced before. But, when Gabby's ex, Noah, gets jealous and and threatens to take Luc away from her, can she depend on Jackson and risk it. Will Jackson and Gabby's love be worth the risk?

I very much enjoyed the story of this book. It dealt with challenges and how people choose to cope with them and what is most important in life. I wasn't top keen on the foul language peppered throughout the book, especially the f-bombs and the descriptive sex scenes but overall I enjoyed the story.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
