Max Fournier is the league's most eligible bachelor and the starting goalie for the Cold Fury hockey team. Max is a romantic at heart, and meaningless sex holds no appeal for him. When he lays eyes on the beautiful Julianne Bradley, Max knows she is something special.

Julianne Bradley is working two jobs to take care of her niece and nephews. She doesn't have time for sleep, let alone a 6´5 famous goalie. But Max isn't about to give up and soon he holds Jule's heart right in his goalie mit. But Max is a celebrity, and with that comes a spotlight that brings more chaos to Jule's already overflowing life.

Sports romances are a little iffy for me because they usually involve a ton of OW drama or (as in this case) puck bunnies. Luckily this book was delightfully free of such shenanigans.

Max was a wonderful non-manwhore goalie (and lord knows I have a thing for goalies *cough PETR MRÁZEK cough*) He was sweet and all in from the minute he sees Jules. Jules, on the other hand, got on my nerves a little with her attitude, especially near the end. I found her actions were a bit contradictory to the way she was portrayed for most of the book. Since this was a pretty easy and very low angst type of relationship, it felt like it was just added in to create a little drama before the HEA ending.

That aside, I did really enjoy this one. (I LOVED the little Canadian connection. LOVE me some tourtiere.) This was a breath of fresh air in the piles of manwhore sports heroes we have in the romance genre. If you are looking for a low angst, romantic, easy peasy read then this would be right up your alley.

Max is a romantic. He believes in love. As a star player for the Cold Fury Hockey team he has his pick of puck bunnies. Not really interested for now he just wants to win another championship, so his focus is on the game. Until one night when he stops at a convenience store and sees Jules. Jules is raising 3 kids and works two jobs and has no time for a man. But there is just something about him she can't forget.
What I love about Max is his willingness to go slow with Jules. He is a little beta but I think for Jules this worked. She needed to figure things out on his own and I kinda liked how he didn't try to just run her over with his alpahaness... Jules has a lot burdens and he wants to be there to take some of it off her shoulders, but she is stubborn and independent. She just can't figure out why he is hanging around her.
There isn't a lot of angst in this story, it kinda sweet and sexy. The last 20% is when Jules begin to pull away and pushes Max out.

With the exception of one book Sawyer Bennett’s Cold Fury Hockey series has been a fast favorite of mine and Max is the Stanley Cup of the series. I have loved many of the other books, I’ve raved about them in my reviews and on social media but Max stands head and shoulders above all the others. I wish we had more than 5 stars because this book deserves more. From the way these two meet, to their 2nd chance meeting, through all the ups and downs, this book just felt right, everything about it was magical perfection. That’s not to say there weren’t some issues along the way, but it was the way they handled them, the way they communicated, the way they gave one another time, and the way they respected one another completely and fully that made this book so special. To be honest I’m worried that the books I pick next to read are going to pale in comparison.

When Max Fournier sees Julianne (Jules) Bradley working at a convenience store he is immediately drawn to her and the fact that she doesn’t recognize him and doesn’t even seem to give him the time of day is an added bonus. So begins this wonderful and strange fairytale like romance.

I loved so much about this story that I’m having trouble putting it into words. Jules life has been turned upside down following the death of her sister from cancer and her taking guardianship of her two nephews and niece, but she is determined to give them the best life she can even if it means working three jobs to do it. She is determined to make a home for them something she and her sister never really had and she will stop at nothing to make them feel safe and secure. I admired Jules greatly for both her work ethic and her dedication to the children and I also fully understood her reluctance to start any type of relationship with Max and her fears about being involved with someone in such a high profile career. Yes at times she was stubborn almost to a fault about doing everything on her own, but given her situation and Max’s wealth I also understood why she felt the way she did. I did feel sorry for her in the fact that she never really got to grieve her sister’s death, that after being with her when she took her last breath she was left to not only bury her, but she had to be strong for the kids and then move them across the country. Max was just a force to be reckoned with, but I loved that he quickly figured out that Jules simply would not “take” anything from him or others to help her in any way. He understood her pride and her need to provide for them all, but the fact he found a way to help her earn more money and that he helped her see that there was room in her life for him made me love him all the more. He never gave up even when she had doubts and even when it seemed she was set on pushing him out, he was respectful of her wishes but clung to the hope that she would miss what they had and accept that together they were better. When Jules calls Max her hero, she is absolutely describing his character, he is one of the good guys.

From their simple evenings in with the kids, to their dates, to the family outings with the kids, and the holidays spent with his family every scene, every bit of this story was special and full of a wide range of emotions. Every scene played out spectacularly in my mind and I was lost in the words and depth of this story.

This is one of those times where I’m just going to say it; run to your favorite bookseller and grab you own copy of Max by Sawyer Bennett. Contemporary romance doesn’t get any better than this and you don’t want to miss this heartwarming, emotional, fun and sexy modern day fairytale!

It's a cute little Cinderella story. Pretty easy read. It fell a little flat for me, as I didn't really feel the chemistry between Max and Jules. I loved Sawyer Bennett's Sugarbowl series though, so this one was probably just not the right fit for me.

Every time I read one of the Cold Fury books from Sawyer Bennett I think, "this is my favorite". But then the next book comes out and I think, "well damn if he isn't even better than the last". With Max I'm truly not sure SB can outdo herself because holy crap if Max Fournier isn't the dreamiest, swooniest, dirty talking, just hands down amazing man! Oh and he's a hockey god. Yeah I love these hockey romances.

Max and Jules are magical together. Two seemingly different people, but at their hearts they are truly the right fit for the other. Max comes into Jules' life unexpectedly, but the way he champions her and helps her see the possibilities despite the hard road she's living was so beautiful. I adored the fact that Jules, even though she has insecurities, was not weak. She's a warrior in so many ways and the way she cares for and takes on her niece and nephews, loving and sacrificing for them was even more beautiful.

Basically I loved this book. That's it. That simple. Read it. There's no angst, just a gorgeous little story to show that there is and can be good in the world if we just open our eyes and take a chance.

I really enjoy this series and Max and Jules were the perfect fairytale romance!

It could sound like the start of a joke ... a hockey player walks into a store. But this is no joke - through a completely chance encounter, he finds the one that will capture his heart. He's smitten, wants Jules however she comes to him (and that includes a ready-made family), and he's ready to claim all of them.

Loved this latest addition. With each book I swear that the hero is my favorite -- but this time, I may not change my mind!

Sawyer’s Cold Fury series is one of those series with the sweetest heroes and the best heroines. I love this hockey team! They truly are a family and all the characters are great. I was excited to get the goalie of Cold Fury, Max Fournier’s book. Let me tell you a little something about Max… Max really is a one-in-a-million type of guy! Max is single and not really looking for anyone, but then he meets Jules. Their story really is a Cinderella type tale!

Jules works full time as a nurses assistant (I can tell you from experience, this is NOT an easy job. It’s one of the most underpaid and under appreciated jobs you can have) and works part time at a convent store (where she meets Max). She also has 3 kids that are now her responsibility since her sister has passed. It’s been a bit of a change for her.

When Jules meets Max she has no clue who he is. No idea that he is a famous hockey player. Either way, she has no time to date and no time for a man. She’s barley juggling her life right now. But Max doesn’t care about that. He can tell Jules is something special and he’ll do anything to make her his.

Max is a truly fantastic hero. I loved how persistent he was with getting Jules and helping her, even though she was proud and didn't want help. I also loved how the kids in her life didn’t scare him. In fact, he embraced them and treated them as his own. Jules was a tough heroine. She worked so hard and did so much. I always admire a strong and hardworking heroine! I love this couple together. They just fit and had fantastic chemistry.

If you’re looking for a great sports romance book with a single parent, swoony hero and a real life Cinderella tale, this is the book for you! It can definitely be read as a stand-alone, but I’ve loved all the Cold Fury books so far! Can’t wait to read more.

Max is a romantic at heart and looking for someone to share his life with - no puck bunnies for him. When he meets Julianne for the first time he knows that there is something special about her and wants to get to know her better. Then when he finds out exactly what her life has become, he realizes just how strong she is.

Jules is raising her niece and nephews after her sister's death. The insta-family and all that means is taking up all of her time & energy. Even meeting a sexy guy at work only tempts her a little. Luckily for her Max is tenacious and willing to put in a little effort to make sure that they can explore a potential relationship.

I love that Max respects Jules and her needs. He tries to understand where she is coming from and support her, but he’s not willing to let her hide either. If she needs a little push, or a little help, he’s there for that too. There isn’t a lot of drama between them – when bad things happen they face them together and work through it. There is that one requisite freak-out that leads to the HEA moment but it’s handled in line with the rest of the story and doesn't last long. I think that Bennett does a fantastic job of balancing things, especially in the world of a professional athlete where she could have made it a big thing but doesn’t. It’s realistic and sweet and works with the characters she’s given us.

I have been a fan of the Cold Fury hockey team since the very first book and I’m so pleased to see that Bennett continues to bring winners. With her smooth writing, interesting characters and strong story, she once again reminds me why she’s on my go-to author list!

Max and Jules story is beyond sweet. Their first meeting is at a convenient store Jules is worked at part time in the Evenong. Max comes in for a late night snack. He sees two guys harassing the clerk. He runs the guys off and the clerk, Jules still acts nervous. He hears a horrible noise from the back of he store. Jules runs to the back and he follows. He sees three kids in the room. Max automatically try's to help and Jules ask him to please leave the room. When she returns to he counter she waits on him with no words exchanged and he leaves assuming she is a single mother and not even know her name. Max also notices she doesn't recognize that he is a famous hockey player. The next day Jules is fired because her babysitter is sick and her boss won't let her bring the kids. That same day Max goes to the store to see her and is told she is fired.

The day after Jules is fired she is at work at her daytime job at the Nursing home she works out. Max shows up to present a check to the Nursing home from a fundraiser. They run into each other and Max asks why she no longer has her job at the store. She explains about the kids and whys she is fired. When Max leaves he calls the manger and gets her the job back. Max starts going to the store in evening when he can and starts getting to know her.

Jules tries to fight the attraction but Max really likes her and the kids and won't give up. Max helps Jules and the kids at every turn. Jules does not like handouts and likes to do everything on her own and always works out repayment when Max helps her.

This a good book about a hardworking, selfless woman who finds her true love who wants to take care of her and her kids. The books is told in a dual POV, it moves a good pace with little drama.

I received a free copy for an honest review.
