Margaret Douglas is a fascinating new character and deserves her own series. Here character communicates and can command wild animals to do her bidding. The book was non-stop with many twists and turns. A great improvement on the tired Eve Duncan series.
Gets you from page one and does not let go,the characters are well developed and the plot moves along nicely
Iris Johansen has done it again. I like that she takes a fringe character from her other books and writes a whole story around that character. Margaret Douglas has been on her own since she was very young. Relying on no one and trying to do it all on her own. She has been running for over 3 years trying to stay out of the hands of the psychopath Nicco that she has escaped from. Enter Lassiter who is looking for Margaret to use as a pawn in an effort to get what he wants from Nicco. Against her better judgement after he captures her she becomes involved in his plan and finds herself strangely attracted to him the more she gets to know him. With her straight forward and way of innocence she has become important to him as well. In this book as we learn in more detail the story about Margaret Douglas' early years. Great read. I would like to thank the Publisher and Net Galley for the chance to read this ARC.
I loved reading this book! Margaret has been a fantastic character since she was introduced in Taking Eve. So now that she's gotten her own story, well, yeah, it was great to get to know her and watch her go on this journey!
We finally find out why she was on the island and working with the dogs. And how she'd gotten there. Both her earlier life, and the events of 3 years ago. I mean, we knew some details about her dad, but now we got the whole story. And the 3 years ago thing...not cool!
There were bits and pieces of romance in this book. It's not a focus, that's more on the action, but it is there. And there was a good balance of all these elements in this book! And we were introduced to Lassiter, who's another interesting character to add to the Eve Duncan world!
I'm conflicted on whether I want this to be a series or not. Because her and Lassiter, they have something of a relationship. And she's going to be, and probably him as well, in future books. And I don't want them to face any more conflict, but I want them to get together unless she's going to get a love triangle like Jane and have another option! So I'm totally conflicted!
Loved this book, it was so awesome, and I can't wait for more Iris Johansen books!
I love the Eve Duncan series and this was a perfect spin off to give us the history of Margaret.
