I enjoyed this short Christmas story of coming home. Amanda Star's father wanted her to come home to Heywood, Oregon to run the family inn, but he wanted her to do it because it was what she wanted, not out of duty, so he lied to her. She stayed away and made a life for herself with a big corporation and was working her way up the ladder at a well-known hospitality company. When she returns home to dispose of the Star Inn after the death of her father, she finds out about his many lies. Will she stay and run the Star Inn. I liked the characters in the story, Cart, Amanda and Angel. The Inn itself plays a role and is the fourth character in the story. It is a short, sweet, coming home, second chance romance that was a bit too short for me. I would have loved to learn more about these characters and have the romance take longer to play out, but it was an enjoyable story for an evening sipping a hot chocolate by the fire.

If I had to pick a favorite book out of the Second Chance at Star Inn series, it would be this one.

I loved Cart and Amanda’s characters and throughout the whole book I was rooting for them to work out. There was just something “real” about Cart that made me enjoy his character so much.

Amanda’s character was one that it was harder to connect with, but I was still able to enjoy the story.

I would completely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a great holiday read and want to get lost in a town for awhile.
