3 stars for Explosive Forces.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to review this book and to be an early reader via NetGalley! However, I will not be writing a review for this title at this time, as my reading preferences have since changed somewhat. Once again, thank you so much for providing me with early access to this title. I truly appreciate it. Please feel free to contact me with any follow-up questions or concerns.
Great story, hearthrob of a main character and doggies!! What more could you ever want. Just a great book, and I could not put it down.
Sorry I was not able to read you book but it went to archive before I could get to it. Sorry once again.
I’ve been a big fan of this series, but something just didn’t hit the mark in this one. It was just an okay read. I think I just didn’t get the connection between the characters as I’ve grown accustomed to. Don’t get me wrong, this book definitely has its hot, sweet, and down right funny moments.
I have not had a chance to read this book yet. I am still working on catching up and also trying not to get too far behind on other books. I will update this review once I have read the book.
This series has had a few ups and downs for me, but overall I have enjoyed reading Ms. Ayres series about K-9 handlers and the partners that make them special. Each one of the stories is only loosely related, but the interconnected and important thread is the dogs that make these stories truly interesting and unique. This story is about a sexy fire investigator and his k-9 partner who meet the most intriguing woman in the most unwelcome and dangerous of circumstances. Carly has just reached her goal of opening a small important boutique when she is pulled into a deadly game between Noah and an individual out to bring his life to an end, but what girl can resist saving a sexy fireman and his sweet k-9 partner. When the danger surrounding Noah begins to spill over to Carly, they must work together in order to bring the would-be killer to justice. Noah is sweet, sexy, and smart, but he is unsure why Carly brings him to his knees with her passion, sweetness and smarts. Noah is being pulled deeper and deeper into a game of cat and mouse with a man that is obviously determined to see both him and Carly dead, but he will not allow her to be injured because of him. I loved getting to know Noah, even has he runs in circles and tries to figure out who is after him, and of course I loved his relationship with his pup. Carly is an enigma, but as we get to know her we see her smarts, courage, and sass come out and lead her into some interesting situations with Noah and on her own. These two had instant chemistry and I wasn’t surprised when the flare of passion led to a quick affair, but after the first flare burns bright, they are able to get to know one another and come to understand that their connection is more than just physical. While I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed this installment, I am truly looking forward to more of these stories especially ones that might be more closely related to the training facility that began the series. Ms Ayres has a writing style all her own for sure, but I am finding more and more that I like her writing and her imagination as she brings to life the stories of the men and women that work with their k-9 partners to keep the world safe from dangers. I cannot wait to see what type of k-9 officers might be detailed next and where their skills might take us in the world of danger and drama.
Carly is just making her last minute checks before she opens her store the next day when she hears a noise. Going next door she discovers a dog and it's unconscious owner. By rescuing him she's managed to embroil herself into a situation she never wished to: a burned down store, someone out to get her and a really sexy K-9 handler who she can't stop thinking about.
Like all the other books in this series, I couldn't help but be pulled into the story immediately. I love that Noah has a little boy and as a single parent has to get by- it means that the novel is very different from the other novels. He doesn't just have to take care of his K-9. Also, he's not a playboy. He could be, but his situation and history have made him cautious and self contained.
Another great edition to the series. I can't wait to see what comes next.
I really like D.D. Ayres. Explosive Forces is a great summer time read. Her books are a great balance of sweet, fun and suspenseful. It is a great entertaining read.
I am a huge fan of DD Ayres. I have loved every other book she has out in this series but this one.. it just didn't do it for me. I have started it, put it down and gone back to it multiple times now and I just can't get into it. That pains me to say, but it is what it is.
Much like the last book in this series, I found this one to be very slow moving. The constant change of view point from chapter to chapter was annoying. I hated and skimmed over the chapters from the "other" person's view point as I found them confusing and unnecessary.
This book was just okay for me. Nothing great...but not horrible. I definitely wouldn't read it again though.
This one is a really good romantic suspense with great characters, a fast moving storyline, and plenty of action. Carly first encounters Noah when she rescues this unconscious man from a fire. Noah, an arson investigator, is blamed for the fire that damages the building where Carly was getting ready to open a shop. Although she doesn't trust him, Carly is very attracted to Noah. Soon, the two of them are an item, and in danger from the arsonist. Harley, Noah's canine partner, manages to completely steal the show in this one.
Unfortunately I haven't found a DD Ayres book that I've loved...
A heart-thumping ride that thrilled and seduced me! I love these K-9 Rescue stories by D.D. Ayres! They always have enough action, suspense, sizzling chemistry and sigh-worthy romance that leave me feeling happy. I loved the ups and downs of Explosive Forces and the non-stop action and the slow, simmering romance drew me in. I loved these characters and the plot, Wonderfully put together!
Fifth book in the series, but each is meant to be able to read as a standalone. This story includes a hot fire detective and an ex model. And don't forget is k9 partner, Harley. There is a little violence but some very nice hot scenes.
She is just about to open her first store but instead is saving an unconscious man with the help of his K9. Together the two will solve try and solve the mystery and hopefully not get each other killed.
I received through NetGalley and voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
Explosive Forces is full of action in the beginning, but then bogs down. This isn't quite as good as earlier books, although still enjoyable. Romance takes a back burner to the plot, which is fine, but at times I felt that it was a little hard to believe that they really were romantically involved.
All in all, however, an enjoyable book.

Noah and his partner, Harley, are arson investigators who are trapped in the building next door to Carly’s new boutique. When Carly goes to see what the whimpering animal sounds are next to her building, her own shop goes up in flames and Noah becomes the suspect instead of just the investigator!
I have really enjoyed this series, but this book is my favorite out of them all! Paired with suspense and mystery, the storyline has a lot more depth and personality than the previous books. Not saying they are bad, just that this one is better, in my opinion. As with the other books in this series, the real star of the story is Harley, the canine arson investigator. Also, the real arsonists POV was unique and intriguing to read. As for the romance – it was more lust at first sight and their instant love was a little hard to understand, but I was more focused on Harley than the human hero and heroine.
Overall, this is a fun, steamy, adventurous story that I enjoyed.
