I really enjoyed Magnus and Tara's story!

Tara is being shipped off to be married to a stranger. Her guardian has informed her that her sister has died and she will take her place and marry the man that Tara's sister was betrothed to. Tara is heartbroken by the loss of her beloved sister, but does as her guardian has demanded of her. But when she meets her betrothed, she can't go through with it.

She finds an ally in an unlikely spot, the half brother of her betrothed. What she doesn't know is that Magnus isn't really her betrothed's half brother, but the son of a local laird that was murdered and he is seeking revenge. What started out as two people helping each other out, quickly turns into love. Can these two survive the fight to come?

I'm so excited to read the conclusion of this series!!!

The Kincaid’s have finally come out of the shadows after a lifetime of hiding from their enemies and there is no way that this clan will ever again have to hide from the world. In the first story of this series the oldest Kincaid returned to his family home in order to take it back from the clan that helped to destroy his and killed his parents when he was a child. The second oldest brother lived his life thinking he was the bastard son of his Clan’s enemy Laird and when the truth is uncovered Magnus’s life will never be the same. He is biding his time in his enemies’ home in order to have his revenge, but when a sweet young lady is brought to the clan as a sacrifice for the clan chief’s son, he never imagined how much she would change him and his future. Tara has been forced to follow her sister’s footsteps after her death to be married off to her late sister’s betrothed and she is determined to find out the truth of her sister’s death before she makes a run for it. Meeting Magnus throws a wrench into her plan for sure, but as their feelings for one another grows, so too does their distrust in a chance at an HEA. When the tide turns against them, Tara and Magnus have to find a way to forgive and move on from their doubts if they will ever have a chance at a happy and fulfilling life together. I loved meeting Tara and seeing her come out of her shell as a woman to be reckoned with, making her truly the perfect mate for Magnus. She was spunky, sassy, strong, and sexy, not a combination that was all that popular in her time. Her brains rivaled her beauty and the way she stood up for herself as much as safely possible shows her as the type of woman that would make a great leader on her own or with her husband at her side. Magnus was a hard-headed Scot through and through; his plans for revenge have him seeing lies and liars around every corner, making him suspicious and angry most of the time. He was also strong, sweet and had his own brand of brains to make him a leader of men and clan. I liked watching him fall in love with Tara and show her just how much he deserves a happy life with him. The passion between Magnus and Tara is overwhelming to them both, leaving them doubting their feelings and bumbling with mistakes as they handle their fears. I look forward to seeing where this series goes next and hopefully getting to meet the third brother of the long hidden Clan Kincaid. I was surprised how much I have enjoyed this series, because even though it is set in one of my favorite places, not all romances of these type strike a chord with me like this one did. Lily has become an author I keep an eye on and I can’t wait for whatever she comes up with next.

The Rebel of Clan Kincaid picks up almost immediately after The Beast of Clan Kincaid. Magnus is dealing with the fallout of learning his true identity, which comes with a lot of emotions, when he meets Tara Iverach. He steals a kiss from Tara, who happens to be engaged/betrothed to Hugh, Alwyn's legitimate son.

Tara has lived in a nunnery before the Earl of Buchan claims her as his ward. She is thrust into the fray after she learns of her sister's death and is promised to marry Hugh, the son of Buchan's friend and supporter.

Tara and Magnus are tossed together in a convenient line-of-sight plot. I didn't always buy their chemistry or connection, but they were able to work together and achieve their respective goals with the help of the other. The Rebel of Clan Kincaid wasn't as dynamic or intriguing as The Best of Clan Kincaid, and I think the pacing hindered the story, probably because I wanted to see Magnus lose control and reveal his true self to Alwyn.

Tara was told by Sister Agnes her guardian sent word he traveled near and wants to see her. Her guardian was Alexander Stewart - the powerful Earl of Buchan. Tara had never met him.It had been five years since her parents had died and her guardian had shown no interest in her. The Earl Of Buchan had had become responsible for Tara and her older sister Arabel. Almost immediately he had summoned Arabel to be presented at court. While Tara had been delivered to Dencroft Priory where she had been every since with only a rare letter from Arabel once or twice a year. At long last Tara Buchan the man who controlled her future. Her guardian was the king’s youngest son. Magnus finds out his whole life was a lie. He finds his sworn enemy is actually his brother. He is really Faelan Kincaid who is the second son of the Kincaid family. When Laird Kincaid was murdered his three sons scattered to the wind. The brother eventually comes back- he had been a mercenary- to reclaim the Kincade land. The Kincaid brothers all had a small wolf tattoo under the arm and that is how they knew Magnus was one of the lost brothers. Magnus had been lost when his family was taken and killed. Magnus is trying to find out who betrayed the Kincaids. So Magnus is going to stay with the Alwyns. Magnus is the leader of the Pit Warriors and allow steward women to sleep in his room to avoid sleeping with Alwyn men. To find out he had a family and and that his “father” was actually responsible for the murder of his parents shocks Magnus. Magnus never has the opportunity to take advantage of his “father” The Laird Alvyn and Magnus was treated like a nobody. Alvyn’s son Hugh hates Magnus and goes out of his way to make Magnus miserable. Magnus is determined to make something of himself and worked hard to be a warrior and defender of his clan. Only as he finds out the truth about his family does he change his plans and what he wants for his future. Magnus feels the person he once honored and defended was now the person he wants to face justice.Tara is not to be presented at court but to marry her sister Arabel’s fiance as Arabel is dead and this devastates Tara. With no choice Tara is bundled into a carriage and an unknown future. Before Tara gets to her destination they are over turn by brigades. Tara runs for her life when she is attacked and threatened with a sword. Then a man attacks her attacker. Tara is thinking maybe things aren’t so bad and Magnus realizes Tara could change everything. Tara needs to find answers about her sister’s death Magnus wants to protect Tara from Hugh Magnus also wants his own questions answered. Tara and Magnus fell fast and hard. They had an immediate attraction and soon they end up sleeping together.
I really enjoyed this story. It had a good plot and it had my interest from the beginning and kept it until the end. There was a lot going on in this story : misconceptions, murder, stolen stolen kisses, damsel saved, friendship made, brother found, lies, hatred, rivals, treachery, rebellion, Highlander's, destiny, castle, clans, and a lot more. I was surprised Tara was not more shy or scared and set back as she was when her parents died and then she went right to the convent for five years and with everything going on there really wasn’t much time for Tara and Magnus. The ending seemed a little rushed to me. But for the most part I really enjoyed this. I loved how very protective Magnus was of Tara and he also didn’t want Hugh to hurt her as Hugh could be very cruel . I loved the characters and the ins and outs and I recommend.

In book one of the Highland Warrior series, we learned the story of the Kincaid clan, the betrayal and murder of the laird and his family. It was thought that the Laird's three sons had joined their parents in the grave but at least two survived. In book two, Magnus Alwyn is identified as the second Kincaid son, Faelan. Although he has been raised in the Alwyn clan as the neglected illegitimate son of the laird. His life has made him succeed as a warrior and leader. Very unlike his "half-brother" ,Hugh, the legitimate heir who is a lush and a despicable person. Enter the heroine, Tara whose guardian has promised her to Hugh. Only Magnus sees her first and vows Hugh will never have her. After Tara meets Hugh she vows the same thing. Can Magnus find revenge for his parents, find out why they were betrayed and get the girl? Although you can read this book without reading the first, I highly suggest you read book one first. The background is important to the story and reading is no hardship. Both books are great reads. I would read any historical romance Lily Blackwood writes, she is a very good author. I do hope there will be a third book about the last missing Kincaid son. He is presumed dead but then so were the other two.

I absolutely adored this story. This series so far is amazing. It has such feeling and the back story is so strong that it makes the each book flow that much easier. The romance in this story has a few ups and downs and difficulties but never felt unrealistic or choppy. The plot flows very nicely and the last chapter was very rewarding to read, I caught myself smiling and even let out a yes while reading! I can't wait for Cullen's book to find out what happened to him after that fateful night his parents were killed and his brothers taken away! Absolutely recommend this book and this series!

Magnus has found out in book one of this series that he is not who he thought he was. After years of being known as the bastard of his clan he now knows that he was actually the son of the murdered Laird Kincaid. Now that the truth is revealed he has to know just who betrayed his father and what really happened on the night of his fathers death. Sounds complex enough to get this story going right? Now add Tara Iverach to the mix and things really start to heat up....

Tara Iverach has been wasting a way at a convent, living her life for the letters that she gets from her sister... until eventually they stop coming all together. Eventually her guardian comes to get her and bring her to what she hopes will be the beginning of her life...Unfortunately for her she is brought to the doors of her sisters husband.

And so the story begins...Magnus wants to learn the truth and Tara is trying to survive. Can Tara and Magnus discover all of the secrets being hidden away from them and finally have a chance at true love? Read and find out!

I voluntarily reviewed this advanced review copy of this book

Lily Blackwood did a great job creating this world of deceit and heartache that leads to mysteries being discovered, solved and eventually true love being found. When it comes to both Tara and Magnus I think they were great characters. Both of them were going through moments of self discovery and recovering form a great loss at the hands of the same family.

The only problem with this book is that it is a little slow and while it is hot to hide around with your true love I wish there was more interaction with them. I honestly believe that this book is going to boil down to personal preference. I think that Lily did a great job and I think the story was very complex. When the stories are complex it takes more time to build and create the world that these characters exist and for me it just made things slow.
