A female cab driver with a cheating boyfriend, a billionaire fare, a proposition, and lots and lots of sex! That about sums up this story. Stevie packed up her cab after catching her boyfriend cheating and she takes off. Rex offers her a hefty sum if she’ll accompany him on a business trip and the two steam up the pages from there on.
There is a LOT of sex throughout this story, which is what I like about this author. But, somewhere along the way the story fell flat and didn’t hold my attention. Not sure why, but I wasn’t as into this book as I could have been. I enjoyed the dynamic between the characters and how strong willed Stevie seemed. Rex’s character was strong, dominant, and powerful, but also sexy as a man know knew what he wanted. The sex scenes were steamy and HOT. But, that wasn’t enough. I don’t think it’s bad, it just wasn’t for me.
This book ended up being much more than what I expected from just reading the cover blurb. I had expected simply a chance encounter between Stevie, a female taxi driver and one of her cabbie customers. But then again how much of a story would that have been? Instead it ended up being a budding romance with a billionaire with some BDSM elements. But then Reid's best friend Dylan entered the picture and transformed the romance to a menage. And then Stephanie (Stevie) mentioned to Reid and Dylan that she wouldn't mind seeing a little action between her men. So this book and a bit of everything and needless to say, some very steamy scenes!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
A Fare to Remember is certainly not what I expected. I was expecting something steamy, which it is, but A Fare to Remember is far more than just steamy, it's pretty much just erotic romance, and actually fairly low on the romance aspect.
Stevie is an independent woman, a business owner (owns and drives a cab) and has just gotten rid of her cheating boyfriend. Literally, just gotten rid of, when she meets Reid, a wealthy (billionaire apparently) businessman whom she picks up as a fare and ends up having a steamy encounter with him shortly after, in an alleyway. Now, I am not one to shy away from steamy encounters so soon in the story, but in this case, it was unexpected, and kind of icky because it was an unprotected encounter. Yep, strangers having unprotected sex. But, not just their first time, but every single time after with no discussion of whether or not the other has been tested clean or not. Hmm...
Stevie and Reid decide to enter into a casual relationship, but only because she insists upon casual, and non exclusive. Then she meets Reid's best friend, Dylan, and has an insta lust connection with him, too. OK...I can handle that, but what it, and her relationship with Reid, lacks, is a strong connection. Yes, Reid declares his love shortly into their relationship, but Stevie doesn't until almost the very end, and I never quite believed the strength of any of their feelings. I do believe in their physical connection, between all three of them, but love, now that I never believed, even when it was declared.
I have to say, Opal Carew knows how to write a sex scene, and there were plenty in A Fare to Remember. There are MM, MF and MMF, plus light BDSM (bondage, D/S), and I was surprised by all this. The sex scenes are the best part of A Fare to Remember. They are seriously steamy, especially the MM scenes between Reid and Dylan.
I wish the rest of the story were as strong as the sex scenes, but it fell short for me. If the story had been better fleshed out, I probably could have bumped my review up to 4 stars, but because the emotional and romantic aspect fell short I just can't justify giving a higher rating. The sex scenes alone, though, save A Fare to Remember from 2 or even 1 stars. Without all the sexy scenes I doubt I would have even finished, because the story itself is pretty weak.
A Fare to Remember is a modern day erotic romance of lust and sex turned to love, with a twist of a classic tale. Set in New York City, Stevie is a female cabbie that enjoys her freedom driving the streets of the Big Apple, earning her keep and living her life as she pleases. After her fiancé broke her heart and their engagement, and she caught her latest boyfriend in bed with another, Stevie was done with love. Then gorgeous billionaire Reid Jacobs steps into her cab and all bets are off. Reid is in town to close a deal, but can't help the attraction he feels towards the fearless driver. She is smart, beautiful and sexy. What starts as a sensual rendezvous in a darkened alley, quickly becomes more. Then, Dylan Cole enters the mix and the hotness factor goes off the roof! Stevie will soon find herself falling not for one, but for two sexy billionaires that will do anything to keep her satisfied, happy and in their lives…
I have to admit, I was hesitant about this book before I ever picked it. I didn't know how I would feel about a book about a cab driver hooking up with a guy she picked up. I am sad to admit that my hesitancy was justified. Everything I was afraid of in terms of this book being cheesy and unbelievable happened. The reason I got it is because I've read some other stuff by the author and kind of liked the other books. If you are trying to decide on whether to read this one, I would suggest starting with something else by this author.
The good news, this book is short and goes super fast. The bad news, it wasn't quite fast enough. Let me see if I can sum up the things that I hated the most: After Stefanie meets Reid they decide they are going to hook up right away. Within like 30 minutes they are getting it on in an alley---WITHOUT a condom and the author even describes the exchange of bodily fluids. I am not a prude at all and really who among us loves latex? Please. But the thought of total strangers exchanging fluids without even a cursory discussion about who's safe and when folks were last tested is just a bridge too far for me. So from the very beginning, I was struggling to appreciate anything about the Reid-Stefanie match.
The next thing that completely threw me was when the couple went to the ball together. I thought Stefanie was reeling over Hank but then she runs into Sean or whoever at the ball and that becomes a whole thing. To make matters worse, Stefanie keeps driving Reid around in the taxi like he is a fare. Reid rides in the back and she asks him where to next...AFTER they have had sex. Like HOW? Dude, if you screw the girl, you ride in the front seat. Them's the rules.
But then things get much much worse. I guess the book is supposed to be some sort of erotic exploration which I honestly did not get from the blurb. So all of a sudden there is m/m action, a menage, BDSM etc. And honestly, I read books with all of those things from time to time. I'm actually a BDSM fan and I certainly don't mind threesomes every now and again. But I was not prepared for it in this book because the story did not logically lead to the activities that were going on. In fact, when it came to the BDSM stuff, they did some semi hard core stuff with NO discussion. Like no safe words, no hard limits, nothing. Just BAM, we're using a ball gag. Everything happened so quickly and without context that I felt like this wasn't really a book with a plot. This was more...I don't know, all erotic, no romance. Oh, oh, oh, did I mention that the third partner in the menage also used no protection with no discussion?? I was too through. You coulda stuck a fork in me after that.
When I got to the end of the book and there was a rushed HEA that fit with everything else in the same way that everything else fit (as in it didn't go at all), I was just over it. The author threw out various little suspense lines here and there and not even those got fully resolved. I'm going to be honest, if you just need like some lonely night material for a date with yourself, this might be ok. But this is not a romance novel and there is no story here worth reading.
The idea is soo good but her writing style - I really had to force my self to finish this book. I never regret reading books but this one - I really really really liked the idea of it. It was humorous and sassy but the writing style couldn't compress the writing. I am really disappointed that I didn't like this book.
The basic premise of "A Fare to Remeber" drew me in. Through a chance encounter a young woman, Stevie, begins a relationship with a mysterious stranger, Reid, that begins to lead to something deeper. Sounds great. Then mysterious stranger's friend shows up and it turns out that the young woman is attracted to him, too. Polyamory activity ensues. I am not normally a fan of polyamory romance, but I have enjoyed polyamorous books that create a genuine relationship between all sexual partners. This book has the spicy scenes I love, but Dylan, the third partner, is treated, in my opinion, like a glorified sex toy by Stevie and Reid. He's allowed to participate in sex, but only every once in a while, and he is normally asked to leave them alone afterwards.
This book. It’s was much more than I expected. Its 3/4th erotic and ¼ sweet. An Opal Carew read is pretty much a guaranteed thigh squeezer. I did not expect the tears of heartache however…
A Fare to Remember is a wicked hot read. In this sexy erotic romance, there is naughty and then there is Opal Carew’s Naughty. You have a mix of romance and seduction crisscrossed with shameless pleasure.
Stevie Trivoli is a New York City cab driver. She is having the day from hell after discovering her boyfriend cheating. Her love life is shattered and she does not have a place to stay. Then Reid Jacobs a sexy billionaire in the city on business barges into the back of her cab and her life. Their first encounter ignites a sexual spark so fiery, its leads to a night of titillating sex in a dark alley.
Later, she accepts his invitation to spend more time with him and finds herself drawn to his sexiness and dominate nature in the bedroom. As she is drawn to his dark desire she admits to him her own aren’t as wholesome as he believe. So, when she meets his best friend and business partner Dylan, their attraction ups the ante in the sexual heat department.
Instantly Stevie is fantasizing about mind-blowing sex with Reid and Dylan. So, it’s no surprise how quickly Reid, Dylan and Stevie are grappling with sexual desires they never anticipated before. You have a mix of M/F; M/F /M; and M/M/F sexcapades rolled into one story. And trust me there is a difference.
The hot trio turns into moments of secret longings and scorching desires. With the help of his best friend, Reid sets out to show Stevie how accommodating his bad boy ways can be. But unless he can inspire her trust as well, what happens between them will only remain a once in a lifetime torrid affair.
The more Reid try to convince Stevie to open her heart the more she continues to hold back. She has secrets of her own that keeps getting in the way. When life throws a curve ball into their reality Stevie must make a choice. She can remain painfully and selfishly independent. Or she can let go of her pride and admit there is more than passion binding her and Reid together.
Reid and Dylan are a woman’s dream in the “your wish is my command sex department.” The author manages to take the normal mechanics of a ménage and twist it into jaw-dropping moments of ” I can’t believe they just did that.”
Toward the end, Stevie’s character became too stubborn and prideful for my personal taste. I wanted to scream at her. On the other hand, I appreciated how she was determine to keep the sexual balance among the three of them. Her feelings of conflict when her desire for Dylan was separate from her desire for Reid showed great character in being open and honest with both.
Whew….Scorching hot!
Wow, Ms. Carew does it again with a scorcher. This story is a slight adaptation to the movie classic An Affair To Remember, and the author’s imagination plus the classic tear jerker is a winning plot. I love the fact that it is a menage with two hunky millionaires, some inventive mfm, mmf action is a fantasy romance story not to be missed. Fare to Remember is an arousing, quick story I recommend for fans of contemporary erotic romance.
I was given a copy by St. Martin’s Press via NetGalley. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Sexy, hot and all around must read. Opal has a way of drawing you in. This book was hooked. Female taxi driver and hot guy. Go get it
I think A Fare to Remember has an interesting premise, where the billionaire meets a female cab driver. I liked it but was not expecting the menage storyline. There's nothing wrong with menage, but it isn't my cup of tea; therefore, I can't truly review or rate this. It would be like me ordering chicken at a restaurant when I don't prefer chicken and then judging the taste. I think Opal Carew is a talented writer, but A Fare to Remember's story was just not for me.
Hot! Hot! Loved this book. The characters were so interesting. They made me laugh and cry.
A Fare to Remember by Opal Carew is a standalone erotic romance novel that is much more than just a story about a Billionaire who falls for his cab driver.
Stevie is having a rough day. She's just broken up with her cheating boyfriend of two years and has moved out with no place to stay. However, the day starts to take a change for the better when gorgeous billionaire, Reid Jacobs, hops into her cab. The attraction and heat between these two characters is off the charts from the start as they get to know each other through conversation, a romp in an alleyway, and so much more after that. Throw in Reid's best friend and business partner, Dylan Cole, into the mix and this novel has increased in its level of hot and complex.
With A Fare to Remember, Ms. Carew has created a hot, erotic, and multi-faceted romance that's not just sensual but filled with a plot that has twists and drama among its main characters that keep the story moving easily. As a heroine, Stevie (Sefani) has both a past that she is distancing herself from and a personal drive to stand on her own, which will not allow Reid or Dylan to overwhelm her even when they join forces. Stevie is guarded (with reason), but Reid and Dylan will not let her past issues (especially with the ultra-rich) prevent them from a real future with her instead of just a night or two. In regards to the relationship among Stevie, Reid, and Dylan, I liked their connection though I would have liked certain dynamics to be explored further and certain scenes handled with a bit more depth/emotion especially in the ending, more specifically with Dylan.
Overall, A Fare to Remember by Opal Carew was a fun and passionate read, with some very erotic scenes. I recommend.
(I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book I received from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my open and honest review.)
What an intensely hot erotic book. I can't say too much about the characters because it will spoil it for you. But there is a twist that is so unexpected, but oh so good. This was a really good book that I enjoyed reading very much. Opal Carew always writes fantastic stories. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy.
I have read many of Opal Carew's books and it pains me to say that I only found this book okay. There were way to many things that I didn't agree with to make this a good read for me, actually at one point I thought about giving up but I pushed through because I had hopes that it would get better which it did but didn't at the same time.
Ms. Carew's books are always HOT and this one was as well, but, there were a few things that concerned me in the first half of the book but when I got to the second half the story line had me anticipating what would happen next and the things that I didn't like previously were pushed in the back of my mind while I enjoyed the new ride we were taken on.
I have to point out that there was no mention of M/M interaction in the book blurb but there is in the story, I know that this is something that not everyone enjoys reading about so just be aware of that before purchasing this book, also there were some BDSM scenes they went further than "Call Me Sir" and one in particular that I didn't find followed the guidelines of Safe, sane, and consensual, this can be the way I interpreted it and you may feel differently.
Was this my favorite Opal Carew book? No.
Will I read this author's books again? Yes
This was an excellent book. Several twist and turns. And an amazing ending.
This book features Stevie and Reid. It also features Reid's best friend Dylan. The story line is loosely based on a movie but with quite a few red hot, steamy changes. I loved Reid and Dylan. Both sexy in completely opposite ways. I would have liked to see a bit more of Reid's dominant side. I feel he let go of something that was a part of his baser nature, way too easy. Also, I would have liked to get to know Dylan a bit better. And Stevie? Her character was strong and she stuck to her principles…until she felt any kind of attraction for a few members of the opposite sex. If her character had been strong to the bone, this would have been a five star read for me.
A Fare To Remember is a standalone erotic romance by Opal Carew. It’s about a cab driver named Stevie. She’s perfectly happy to be driving her cab and then one night she picks up a rich business man. Reid. After coffee with him, things get intimate in a hurry. But Stevie doesn’t do relationships, nor does she do rich guys
She also is attracted to Dylan, his bad boy looking business partner so the three of them have a great time together, but then she decides she needs space. When a terrible accident happens, it tests everything, making their relationship precarious at best.
As always, I think Opal did an incredible job. I actually felt bad for Reid because a good part of the problem was Stevie’s attitude a lot of the time. I did find her to be selfish quite a bit, otherwise, a great story.
'A Fare to Remember' by Opal Carew is the story of Reid and Stevie. This was a pretty hot intense story that burned off the pages for me...by that is why I love Ms. Carew's writing!
Stevie has just broken up with her boyfriend of two years...she caught him cheating with one of his waitress. As a cap driver Stevie gets hit on a lot but never takes it anywhere until Reid gets into her cab. He overhears her conversation with her friend telling her to sleep with the next guy that gets into her cab..which is Reid. Reid does talk her into having sex with him and Stevie puts her own demands on it. Then afterwards Reid asked her to go to a business party with him which leads them into a relationship of sorts. Reid's best friend named Dylan gets into their mix and brings an even hotter step into their relationship. This does end with a HEA.
