Chevy Stevens has written another great thriller. I have enjoyed many of her books and enjoyed this one as well. True to a good suspense novel, she expertly weaves the story so that you can not figure out who is good and who is evil. Who do you trust? You will just have to read it and find out for yourself!
This was a very scary and unsettling book for me to read. I kept on waiting for dear hubby to go postal.... it was brilliant and I can't wait.for the next one!
I am not quite sure how I found Chevy Stevens. I picked up Still Missing on a whim and was quickly consumed. I instantly knew this would be a new go-to author. With Never Let You Go Chevy did not disappointment. From page 1 I was completely engrossed in this sleeping with the enemy-isk type book. Is everyone as horrible as they seem? Questioning every motive and word was thrilling. Thanks again Chevy for keeping me on toes and making me question everything. I highly recommend this domestic suspense as you will not be disappointment.

3.5 stars!
I just thought this book was just O.K. to me. It did keep me turning the pages and I was intrigued to find out what was going to happen next but the domestic abuse just made me cringe and I felt very uncomfortable. I can put up with a lot in psychological and dark thrillers but I have found out that I cannot put up with domestic abuse and will be staying away from these kind of thrillers in the future. I did think this was very well written and I will be looking forward to reading other books by Chevy Stevens. I did love the twists and found it to be very unpredictable. I did love the ending. There are plenty of red herrings. I found this to be a very quick read and a page turner. This is a very intense read.
Never Let You Go focuses on domestic abuse and the impact it has on those involved. Eleven years ago, Lindsay
escaped an abusive marriage, moving on with her life and her daughter's with her husband behind bars. When he is released and comes looking to connect, bad things start to happen.
I did think that the author did a great job with her characters I found them to be flawed and a complicated mess. All the characters were believable and easy to imagine. They were very well developed in the story. I of course did not like Andrew. I found him to be very possessive, jealous, controlling and very insecure which are the character defects of most alcoholics like him. I did like Lindsay and Sophie.
I do recommend this book to those that enjoy an intense domestic abuse thriller.
I want to thank Netgalley, St. Martin's Press and Chevy Stevens for a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
3.4 - lots of red herrings - very enjoyable, although I still felt like there were some loose ends
This intense book has everything to keep you on the edge: romance, suspense...The end is not as expected.
I really enjoyed this book and would suggest it.
This was my first Chevy Stevens book that I have read-and certainly won't be my last. There was so many twists and turns in this-that I couldn't read fast enough to find out what was about to happen next.
That ending...I thought I had some idea what was going to happen...and then bam-I was left completely surprised.
I will say that Ms. Stevens character and story line was perfect,
I sincerely would like to thank Chevy Stevens and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and review this. I loved it so much I purchased a physical copy.
Anyone who has experienced or is privy to an abusive relationship with a narcissistic person, will experience déjà vu while reading Chevy Stevens’ psychological thriller, Never Let You Go. Stevens is right on while telling the story of Lindsay, who escapes an abusive relationship and starts a new life with her teenage daughter while her ex-husband, Andrew, spends time in prison for killing a woman while driving drunk. However, when he is released, Lindsay is devastated because strange things start happening – someone is breaking into her house and searching through her things and she is being followed - she is convinced it is Andrew, who denies being involved and swears he has changed. Lindsay doesn’t want to run again, since she has an established business, and she must rely on her friends to help her get through and avoid the consequences of Andrew’s behavior.
Stevens is an excellent storyteller, and has developed her characters so that they seem real. She has obviously done some research into the psychology of narcissistic personalities, and it is almost scary to experience it through her characters. The story will keep readers on the edge of their seats since there are unexpected twists and turns that escalate the level of suspense.
The dénouement is totally unexpected, and will make readers really think for days after finishing the book. The story is fascinating, the writing is excellent, and the characters are very real. Readers who enjoy a fast-moving thriller with a great story will not want to miss this novel.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
How have I not read this author before now!? I have had her books for a long time and see hype about them but never sat down to enjoy one until now. I must say I was 100% satisfied!
Lindsey got out of a very toxic marriage, taking her daughter Sophie with her. I really enjoy books like this because it's not a reality for me. Domestic/suspense has always intrigued me. And this is definitely a roller coaster of all things crazy married life!
They got out, but barely, by a miracle of events that sent her husband to jail. Lindsay and her daughter focus on building a new life and moving on.
Or so they thought...... When her husband gets out of jail things get weird. Weird things start happening and Lindsay and Sophie are paranoid. Heck I was paranoid reading this too! I may have even got the chills a few times.
I liked reading in Lindsay and Sophie's point of view. I felt like I was in the story AS them, thanks to Chevy's superb writing! Overall this is a fast paced, heart pounding suspense that will have you turning pages super quick to find out what happens. I can't wait to read many more by this author.
My rating 5/5 stars
I've read quite a few domestic abuse thriller books but this one has a nice twist. I loved the brave characters and the pace of the book.
Loved this book. This is my second Chevy experience and I enjoyed this one so much more than the last. I can't wait to read more from her. In this book you read both from the perspective of Lindsay as well as her teenage daughter. Both characters are so realistic, Lindsay escaped form her abusive husband, starting a new life with her daughter. He is not out of jail and there is an underlying of suspense, it is perfect. I got really caught up in this book and have no complaints at all, never a dull moment and I liked the ending. 5 stars!!
"Never Let You Go" is a good solid thriller that engaged me throughout. It kept me guessing as to what was going to happen next and who to trust. Ms. Stevens is quite good at creating story lines that take the reader in multiple directions. I felt a bit paranoid as I began to suspect several potential antagonists at different times. The climax was exciting, and attention grabbing.
I thank NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this title.
This latest from Chevy Stevens tackles the subject of domestic abuse while giving us a chilling thriller. Lindsey Nash fled from her home eleven years ago in the night in order to escape an abusive husband. Chasing after her while intoxicated led to him having an accident that killed a person in the other car. He has been in prison during the following years. Now that he's out, incidents start to occur that threaten and scare Lindsey. She is sure it is her ex who is to blame. There are twists and some surprising events before the thrilling conclusion.
Chevy Stevens “Never Let You Go” is a thrilling read. The story takes you back and forth in the lives of Andrew, Lindsey and Sophie. (Great writing, good plot twists.) I'd give it 4.2 bookmarks out of 5.
Lindsey married Andrew quickly after an exciting romance but soon she realizes she caught up. Andrew is a drinker, a physically abusive drinker. Possessive is another one of Andrew's qualities that has Lindsey on edge. Finally after years of abuse and almost being strangled she hatches a plan to make an escape. With the help of her brother it all works out. After a good night's sleep out of the watchful eyes of her husband Lindsey gets a call from her brother Chris. There plan worked sure, but while Andrew was out searching for his wife and child, drunk and under the drugs his doting wife slipped him, crashes and kill a young woman. Andrew is imprisoned.
Years later Lindsey and Sophie have settled in a beautiful little town. Lindsey owns her own cleaning business. Sophie still loves to draw. Across the water however Andrew is being released. On the down low Sophie has being corresponding with her father. She wants so much to have a relationship with him. Andrew is sober and seemingly has changed his ways but Lindsey isn't falling for it. Sophie on the other hand believes her father has indeed changed. So she continues to give him a chance.
Things start to happen. The house gets broken into. Lindsey is being followed on the job. She's convinced that Andrew is stalking her. At first Sophie thinks her mother is overreacting but soon believes her mother is correct. In the meantime she's developing a relationship with a boy that Lindsey see has some of the same possessive qualities of Andrew. After breaking it off with Greg, who Lindsey found wasn't actually her type she began dating Marcus. Marcus, her friend who she'd met in her grief group. Marcus, who she works out with. Marcus, who she spent countless hours talking about her life and fears with.
Andrew is still trying to convince Sophie that someone is following them, and in the meantime setting him up. They go out of town trying to get away from the drama. When they come back they find Andrew dead in their home. Sophie who has being developing a relationship with her father is devastated. They spend some time with Marcus while healing and selling the house. Marcus proposes and Lindsey says yes. Finally life is getting back to normal.
While cleaning however Lindsey figures out the truth. Marcus is the cause of all of it. The woman Andrew killed the night Lindsey ran from her husband with Sophie was Marcus's wife Elizabeth. Lindsey, Sophie and Jared (Sophie's Boyfriend) are stuck in Marcus's home during a storm and Marcus is figuring out that Lindsey has figured it out. Marcus confronts Lindsey and all hell breaks loose, literally because Marcus plans to burn Lindsey, Sophie and Jared alive in his house. The house that he shared with his wife. The wife that Lindsey helped her husband to kill.
In the end everything works out and wow what a beautiful ride Stevens takes readers on. I look forward to the next work from the author.
This is my first Chevy Stevens book and I will try another one. It was fairly ok but nothing too shocking or original. I have read some outstanding books lately and this one just did not fit in that group. But I will certainly try again.
I received an e-copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review. I have previously read books by Chevy Stevens and love her writing style. Her books are suspenseful and keep you on the edge of your seat. I was positive I had figured this book out but was surprised by the ending. Lyndsey has escaped from an abusive husband in her past and he will never leave them alone. Andrew recently got out of prison and starts trying to contact their daughter Sophie and makes their lives a living nightmare. Sophie as a character got on my nerves because she does exactly what her Mom asks her not to and by doing so keeps putting them at risk. I would definitely recommend this book it is fast paced and was a great read!
Love a good mystery....Chevy Stevens dominates this genre. Thanks for sharing. I have recommended this novel to my reading circle and three local libraries.
Chevy Stevens did not disappoint with Never Let You Go.
There was suspense in every chapter, but the storyline remains realistic and believable until the end. The fear and manipulation that almost every character either delivers to others or receives from those they love kept me turning the pages faster and faster the mire that I read!
I look forward to reading other novels by Chevy Stevens.
Thank you to Netgalley for the e-copy.
Lindsey Nash got a new lease on life when her abusive ex-husband was sentenced to prison for killing a woman in an automobile accident. With Andrew in jail, Lindsey never had to look over her shoulder and she was able to raise her daughter, Sophie, without looking over her shoulder. Now it in eleven years later and Andrew is getting out of jail. Lindsey is terrified of what will happen when (not if) he finds them. What she doesn't realize is that the nearly eighteen-year-old Sophie has been communicating with Andrew for a while now and she leads Andrew right to them. The fear is real when somebody breaks into their house and then when somebody drugs their new dog and then finally when Andrew leaves a gift on Lindsey's car. Lindsey takes Sophie and runs - will they ever be able to return to the home they have come to love? Or will Andrew ruin it all and force them to live in hiding.
I have enjoyed every novel that Chevy Stevens has ever written and was really looking forward to Never Let You Go and she did not disappoint. At first, I was afraid that she had fallen into the "abusive ex-husband" cliche, but there are a couple of twists and turns that remind me that Chevy Stevens is not your average mystery author. In the years since Andrew went to prison, Lindsey has created a good support network in her boyfriend, Greg, and her friend Marcus, from their support group. She is not the meek woman she was when married, now she knows how to fight back. And I love that kind of resilience in a character. I don't like the way she talks to Sophie at times - I know it is out of extreme fear, but it was cringe-worthy. I don't really care for the boy that has caught Sophie's eye and it frustrated me that Lindsey was too distracted with her own issues to pay attention to who Sophie was hanging out with. I know it is common for teens to keep secrets from their mothers, but it terrifies me to realize just how much danger Sophie was in without realizing it. I thought that I had it all figured out, but I was wrong. I love being wrong when reading a mystery! CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS!
Bottom line - Never Let You Go is another gripping mystery from the wildly talented Chevy Stevens. Between her multi-dimensional characters and the surprising plot twists, you are promised to find yourself in the grips of a real page-turner.
