What an epic piece of work John Stubbs has produced. It blows my mind the amount of work that has gone into the writing of this book. The skill and dedication required are not to be underestimated. This book is intimidating at over 700 pages, but thank god for Kindles! I really appreciated the level of detail and the connections made throughout as not only did I learn about Swift, I also gained a greater understanding of this period of history.

I'm sure this book won't be to everyone's tastes but it certainly challenged, engaged, and taught me.

I've made it as far as 34% when I decided to mark the book as did-not-finish. Not sure if I pick it up in the future again but for now I'm done.

I had high hopes for the book but learned quickly that it's just not made for me. I expected to get to know more about Swift and the time he lived in but was confused more than once because the author didn't stick to any kind of topic. This might work for someone who's more familiar with the history of Ireland. Unfortunately, I'm not and I felt lost.
