It just didn't work for me. DNF'd the series.
Sorry for the delayed review. I'm working on clearing out my Netgalley backlog.
Bree is a character that is very relatable and she will make an impression on you. There is a moment of growth and exploration that will play a key roll in making her aware of the big bad that looms around her. Seeing her come into her own was positively wonderful. We get to see her full power and this girl can flex! I can say with 100% certainty that because of all the suffering a large price must be paid to restore order. Everyone answers the call without disappointment and they come together to do what must be done.
This book was not for me but it is a decent fantasy with good pacing and characters. It just didn't click for me.
I received this ARC through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!!
Ive posted a full review on Goodreads and I look forward to reading more from this author!
Overall, this series was an enjoyable read and this was a decent end to the trilogy. While I didn't love everything, it was a fun and easy read, scratching the YA fantasy itch that we all get sometimes.
In general, the characters were decent, with some definitely outshining others. Bree was definitely the main character, to the point where her chapters started outshining Caden's, obviously. It was generally okay but felt unbalanced at points, with me wanting to just go back to Bree's POV.
The ending itself was generally okay, if a little underwhelming. There was a lot of build up to it, and it felt like it just fizzled to an end. I also wasn't a fan of the epilogue either overall, and feel maybe the ending could have been stronger without or with it changed.
However, this series was still quite enjoyable as a whole, and I can see myself picking up other books by this author in the future!
Unfortunately the book was archived before I could download it. I'm looking forward to picking this book up from the library though. It sounds interesting.
Power Must Be Respected
3 years since I have been in Egria boy have I missed it! I can say with so much excitement... it has been so nice to visit again and watch these beloved characters fulfill their destinies. Each character has come a long way in their development. Everyone has lost much but through their defeats they will find the strength to overcome fears doubts and tyrants. They do so stronger than before! I did not want to put this read down and thus devoured it rather quickly. Finally, the truth is out there, all of it, no more secrets! Worry not the group is all the stronger for it!
The Story, everyone knows who and what Bree is. Although it is what's best this truth shakes everyone to the core. Bree's closest friends are in a confused state not knowing what to think of the situation. This wonderful band of misfit rebels have made it to the shores of Nereidium after so long a home is found and thus an ally in the war. In shock, of revelations…Bree’s friends remain at arms length but as soon as Bree discovers the higher powers at hand she will do what is necessary to ensure everyone plays their very important part. Because if anything goes wrong it could mean certain doom to everyone involved.
The Characters, Bree oh man do I love her she is awesome and strong and she possesses a wonderful heart. These are the attributes that attract those that would wish her harm. I wish we got more back story into why her and if there were tools to measure once before. Rick aka Caden i loved this guy even though he seemed lukewarm at times I was happy to know his heart will always belong with Bree. This wasn’t a very romance filled read Bree and Caden have their moments that let us know they care deeply for one and other but that has never been the focus. There is a possible apocalypse on the horizon these rebels must do everything they can to protect the innocents that would be destroyed.
The End, If you haven’t read this series then you positively should Bree is a character that is very relatable and she will make an impression on you.
My Rating
4.5 Fun, Exciting, Mysterious Joyful ending filled stars!
Fall of Thrones and Thorns is book 3 of the Elementals: The Threats of Sky and Sea. I have to DNF this because I have not read book 1 and 2 of the series. I'll give a try once I'm done with the first two books. It was a mistake to request this without reading the other book and I am admitting my mistake.
This is the third and final book in the trilogy. It ends with Bree living as a young adult through several major catastrophic events. The writing is excellent as the excitement builds and fast paced for the reader. I enjoy her outstanding descriptive writing and the story drew me in to read in one sitting. A excellent end to the series that I highly recommend.
Excellent end to the series! Will definitely reread in the future!

That was the end, huh? I can't hide that I'm disappointed in it. I feel generous giving it 3 stars. I don't hate the book as a whole (though this book felt more like a second book than the second book did), but . . . the ending? The epilogue? Really??? I'm just disappointed.
And I'm kind of at a loss for what else to say. I've literally been sitting here, trying to decide what to write.
Let's start simple and petty. The editing was poor, and it became more so in each book. Missing words, extra words, sentence structure that just didn't work, etc. I'll assume this was an unedited copy, however, and hope those things were corrected in the final edition. But it drove me nuts.
I suppose I could say that while several of the characters grew, others felt very static. And I still have trouble picturing any of them. Except in my head, King Langdon is the king from Ever After . . . only evil. But nobody else has managed to develop a face, or even a body really, in the three books. Though I enjoyed having Caden's chapters, he kind of fizzled out toward the end. He was just, I dunno, there but not doing anything. He became a side character.
On the bright side, my copy included Defining Justice, in which we learn that Caden is two years older than Aleta (or, actually Bree). So there's that.
Let's discuss (vaguely) that ending, shall we? Not the epilogue--I'll get there. The ending was very, very anticlimactic. (Even Bree said so.) And then it was just over.
Which leads us straight to the epilogue. Again, without giving too much away, I'll say that I am greatly unsatisfied. I like my books to end happily. Not just okay, but happily. None of this "I don't know if . . . " garbage. So let's all go eat a meal, shall we? Great idea.
As I said, I'm disappointed.
Note: Some swearing (why did the 2nd and 3rd books have it when the 1st book so wonderfully did not?). Not the ending I wanted.
