Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
So the ending was a bit abrupt, but I enjoyed this story. It had a lot of heart and just enough nerd jokes to keep me entertained.
Darla and Grace have a great little life for themselves. Yes, Darla has to pinch every penny, but they're making it work. Enter Jake, the kind of dreamy intellect that girls like me only dream of. Although he and Darla went to high school together, they're reconnected by Grace and her desire to go to space camp. What starts as pure chemistry (on Darla's part), quickly becomes more and it was fun watching them each come to terms with their relationship.
I did feel like I missed some things, and a few characters were thrown in without too much backstory (particularly Jake's past, which came out of left field), but overall, a good read.
Darla gets by day by day waiting tables to make enough money to raise her daughter on her own but once she meets up with Jake, getting by isn't good enough anymore - they both want more - so much more and Jake might just find his "in" when he can help her daughter Grace.
