This book confirmed for me that I'm more of a fan of Willis' darker books than her lighter ones. I enjoyed it a lot - and read it practically in a single sitting - but as someone who mostly reads speculative fiction, I did find the nebulous SFnal ideas sometimes frustrating. The romance didn't quite hit the right mark for me, either, with everything seeming to be all tied up a bit too quickly and neatly at the end. Neither of these issues were major, hence my four star rating, and I did enjoy it and will probably reread at a later date.
