Jewell ALWAYS puts out a great story. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and it definitely kept me guessing! I would recommend her books to anyone.
I loved this book and devoured it in 2 sittings. The characters were believable and the plot was thrilling with twists and turns throughout. I didn’t expect a happy ending through the tragedy, horror and trauma that unfurled. It warmed my heart that it only takes one person, a good and giving kind person to care enough to choose to help instead of choosing to walk away from a broken and tortured soul. Taking the harder path can sometimes not only be the right thing to do but also the most rewarding in the end.
A mystery of twenty years. Three lives that will become entwined, two in a horrible way, one may be the start of a new beginning. Some very fine writing here. Can one recognize the face of Evil? This outstanding and suspenseful novel uses some amazing sleights of hand to keep the reader totally engrossed. A few graphic scenes, none too gory, but it is the descriptions, the atmosphere Jewell creates that gave me the shivers. The kind where you find yourself holding your breath, butterflies in my stomach, and hoping answers will be found, someone held accountable.
The ending if a bit too over the top was satisfying. Light after some terrifying darkness. This is a suspense novel with substance.

I liked the mystery in this book and the plot kept me reading. I always enjoy short chapters and these were told with alternating perspectives and one flashback perspective. Some characters were likable while others were a bit desperate. Overall I found it enjoyable and a book that kept me wanting more. The descriptions of Ridinghouse Bay made me feel like I was there. Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
In my opinion Ms. Jewel can't write a bad book, this book just proves that point. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I usually finish a book and right away pick up a new one but this book had me thinking about it for several days after I finished it. Great book!
I loved this book and couldn't read it fast enough. Jewell weaves three different story lines together- two in the present day, and one in the past. Alice finds a man sitting on a beach in front of her house, soaking wet, and with no memory. Lily's husband doesn't come home from work one day and she's having a hard time convincing the police that he's actually missing. In 1993, Gray and Kirsty, on vacation with their family, fall under the "spell" of a young man who Kirsty is taken with, but Gray feels that something isn't quite right about him. This book was a total page turner for me. Highly recommend.
Jewell's books are always wonderful and this one was no exception.
I good quick read with some suspense mixed in. There were several story lines - a woman who finds and takes in a man on the beach, a newlywed whose husband disappears, and a family in decades past who meet a mysterious man while vacationing. I enjoyed guessing what was going to happen and reading how the stories played out and converged.
Three different stories: Alice, a single mum with three kids and three dogs, has a habit of taking in strangers to stay at her cottage. When she sees a handsome man looking lost on the beach, obviously she invites him in. He has no memory of who he is, he has no money, heck, he doesn't even remember that you're supposed to slice a bagel before putting it in the toaster....what?! He's in a fugue state apparently, brought on by some traumatic event. Lily, a young Ukrainian woman is recently married to Carl, who doesn't return home from work one evening. The final story takes place in 1993 with the Ross family on vacation, mum, dad, and teens Gray and Kirsty. A local boy, Mark, takes an interest in young Kirsty, but he gives Gray bad vibes...
This story just fell flat for me. The reason for the 3.5 rating is the fact that I enjoyed the ending and how the stories and characters ended up being connected, it was actually pretty crazy! Otherwise it was slow moving and unbelievable. Alice has sex with "Frank" (lost memory man) without having a gosh dern clue who he is, if he's married, she knows nothing about him! And I get the fact of losing memories like who you are, where you're from, but to forget certain words or how to make a bagel, seriously? I wouldn't really classify this as suspense or thriller like Goodreads has, but simply a mystery. There was a pretty scary and thrillery scene that had me on edge but that's about it.
I received an ARC via NetGalley.
I Found You just may be the next big hit!! It was very suspenseful and the characters are so real, I truly felt drawn into this story. Some characters I so connected with, they will stay with me for quite awhile. This title is definitely going on my recommended reads list once it becomes available!!
I Found You is a great title for a novel that is about finding people, finding one's self, and ultimately, finding what means the most to us. Alice is a 41 year old woman living on the coast in a resort town in northern England. She has three children and three dogs. One rainy day Alice observes a man sitting on the beach, staring out to the sea. The man remains there until Alice can no longer sit by and watch him getting soaked. She takes a jacket out to him and he barely registers her kindness or the fact that he needs to cover up in the fierce wind and rain. Thus begins a relationship with a man who has no memory and doesn't know why he is at the particular beach. He doesn't know his name...google turns up a diagnosis of 'fugue state' - when a person loses sense of self due to some kind of trauma. It can last a few hours, a few days, or much longer.
Something horrible happened twenty two years ago on that beach and we take a journey with Alice and the man, who she names Frank, to find out if he is the good guy or the bad guy in the situation. It can go either way. This novel is a true page turner and a good treatise on how lives can be destroyed by the action of one single person on one night. This is a mystery, a thriller, and a story of love - familial and romantic, childlike and redemptive for adults. The story is precious, the writing is excellent.

I'm so happy 'I found you' by Lisa Jewell found me!! I finished it in 4 hours!! You know when u read so many thrillers that half way through, you KNOW who the killer is? Well this one kept me guessing quite a bit!! Awesome book!!!
Found You took me on a suspenseful, emotional roller coaster ride as an harrowing secret, buried for 22 years, is uncovered.
Three main stories comprise the narrative: A man who has repressed such an awful memory for 22 years that it has put him in a fugue state. A newlywed bride living in a foreign country whose husband has disappeared. And the story of a brother and sister on vacation in 1993. These stories are bound by a common thread, but it takes time for this thread to be revealed.
Alice, an artist and single mother of three, is known for making bad decisions. It’s no surprise that when she spies a man sitting on the beach in the pouring rain, that she tries to help him. This man appears to have amnesia and cannot remember who he is or what his name is. Alice takes him and calls him “Frank.” Alice is determined to help Frank retrieve his memories, but the more she gets to know him the more she falls for him and begins to wonder if maybe it’s best he doesn’t remember who he is, where he is from, and what he might have done to block his memories.
At the same time in London, Lily, a young bride from Kiev, is searching for her husband. Only married for a few weeks, Lily believes that only grave danger would have taken her husband Carl away from her. The more she searches for him, the more she realizes that she doesn’t know him as well as she thinks.
Flashback to 1993, and the story of Gray and his 15 year old sister, Kirsty who are on a two week beach vacation with their parents, is at the forefront. Kirsty starts dating a slimy older guy named Mark. Gray recognizes that something isn’t right about Mark, but whether or not he can keep him away from Kirsty remains to be seen.
I love Lisa Jewell books because I never know what I am going to get from her; her books always take me in a different direction than I anticipated. I Found You is filled with suspense, so much so that I developed a sense of dread while I was reading, as I knew something bad was going to happen. I found the characters to be well developed and I was surprised by how emotional the ending made me.. I recommend this one for a solid, thrilling read!
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Loved this book! Plenty of intrigue, lovely descriptions, and well- developed characters kept me reading way past bedtime.
I admit, mysteries and thrillers are probably my genre du jour. And the more twisty and turny, the better. This one was definitely that!
When Alice comes across a strange man on the beach, she immediately senses he needs help. He has no memory, nothing to indicate where he came from. So of course she takes him in until he can figure out just who he is. And predictably, she falls for him along the way.
Meanwhile, young newlywed Lily is in a panic because her husband has disappeared without a trace. He just went to work one day and never came home. While trying to find him, she discovers he wasn't who she thought he was. In fact, the man she married doesn't even exist.
Step back in time, now, to a tragic event that happened on the very same beach where Alice came across her handsome stranger. Could these events possibly related? And could Lily's missing husband be connected? But of course! It wouldn't be a thriller otherwise.
I love Lisa Jewell's stories. They rely heavily on characters and family connections while at the same time portraying them authentically. Her latest is no different. Grab it!
Beautifully written, suspenseful, with characters that will stay with me.
A page turner, but funny enough no real twists- easy to figure out the trajectory so reaching
A denouement is anticlimactic at best
Another excellent book by Lisa Jewell. I was really drawn to all the characters and once I got a third of the way through I couldn't put it down. The ending was satisfying without being cliched and the author didn't try to employ any implausible twists that would have spoiled the story. Thoroughly recommended.
This was a well constructed domestic psychological suspense set in England with quite a few turns along the way. Two of the main characters were at first a little unlikable but it all came together at the end and I was pleased with how the relationship issues were resolved.
