Who doesn't love a good damaged hero. Having not read the rest of the series (as once again, I didn't realize it was part of one) - this book will still suck a reader in, and can easily be read as a stand alone. That said, beware - the rest of this author's books will soon be added to your TBR. The switch up of points of view really adds to the story, and gives it the extra depth that it needs, considering the dark and tortured past of the hero.
This was very good! Loved the deep passionate connection between David and Maygen! I enjoyed the storyline of David dealing with PTSD, and there's a bit of danger and suspense added that I liked. I loved that we get to read about David and Maygen going on dates and such; it's nice to read about them growing closer as a couple. There is some awesome heat between these two! A lot of this story is mainly about David and Maygen's relationship, so some may want some more action. I was entertained for the whole story though; I really enjoyed both main characters. David's PTSD has caused him to think he's not good enough for anything meaningful in the relationship department, so he has walls built up. He can't deny the magnetic pull he feels towards Maygen though, and she can't deny it either. The chemistry between these two is hot! David's a hard man to resist! Glad I read this, it was wonderful! Looking forward to more from A.M. Madden!
Once again A.M.Madden has delivered a book that will grab your heart, rip it to pieces and put it back together again with her words, heart and soul.
Dark Corners is the third book in the True Heroes Series and is an absolute must read. The Chemistry between the two main characters David and Maygen is so overwhelming you just can't stop wanting to get to know them and there stories.
We first met David in Glass Ceilings and you knew then that you needed to know more about this returning Vet and his tortured sole. In this book you will get to know him and his past and the struggles he has to move forward in his life.
Maygen is the daughter of a well respected businessman who just wants to make it on her own merits and not ride the coat tails of her well know father and be branded with a title of a Spoilt Princess.
This book has some surprising twists and turns that you wont see coming and your emotions will be all over place during David and Maygen's story, but I can guarantee you will be begging for more by the time you have finished.
A.M.Madden has again left me with my hand on my heart at the feelings she has bought out in her writing. Congratulations on another 5 star read.
This is an amazing story about love, loss and forgiveness. The author did a great job showing us the struggles our soldiers go through with PTSD.
I have not had a chance to read this book, Once I have gotten a chance to read it I will edit this review to reflect my thoughts and feeling on the book.
Sexy. Sweet. Unforgettable. I love this author and the stories she writes. Great chemistry. Undeniable attraction. Smoldering tension. Characters that make you feel everything. Highly recommended this book y'all!
I enjoyed this book. It pulled you right in and kept you turning the pages. This book was well written and I had no issues following the story.
David struggles with PTSD after serving in Iraq. Meygan has a stalker and a very overprotective father. Even while dealing with serious issues, the author seamlessly intertwined passion, romance and laughter.
Great series! Loved this third installment of the True Heroes series! It was steamy, suspenseful and captivating! Loved the characters! David is a super hot, ALPHA male and I loved how intelligent the heroine, Maygen was. They had and amazing chemistry! A definite must read!
This is the third book in the series and I will say I enjoyed it as much as the last book. David Cavello is out of the Army but the PTSD has not left him, and at night he still has nightmares. He is going to therapy for help but it a slow process. That is until he meets Maygen Whitney who is trying to live her life away from the over protection of her father. There meet on the sidewalk in front the coffee shop and the banter they change actually stirs something in her but as well in him. Now they both must overcome their fears of allow some else into their worlds that they have created without anyone. They find out that they enjoy each other’s company and slowly she is falling for him. When she helps him through one of his PTSD episodes David now really feels connected to her and actually works more with his therapist. Now have to overcome his secret that he was actually working for her father and protecting her. There is one saving grace and that is he did not cash the checks and they do love each other. When she decides to talk to him can they start over? Is there really someone out there that wants to hurt her? All of those questions will be answered along with a few surprises at the end which add to this story, which all together makes this a very good book.
Loved the premise of this story!
David, an Iraq war veteran had seen what no one else should have ever seen and now he can't get the image out of his head. Returning home was nothing that he expected and he was unprepared for life as a civilian. But things finally begin to change when he happens to bump into (literally) Maygen outside a coffee shop one day.
I'll admit the first half of the book was kind of slow for me and I truly debated on finishing it but I'm so glad I did! About 50% of the way through the book the plot suddenly changes and everything you thought you knew becomes something else. Suddenly you're left questioning everything you've read until that point in the book.
This is where the true story picked up for and what a story it was! The suspense was off the charts and the villain was not someone I would have expected at all!
I didn't like this book BUT in all fairness, this just isn't the right book for ME. This might be a good pick for you.
This is David and Maygen's story. I thought I would like this book because David is the strong heroic type and that always gets me going. I knew it was about David coming back from the edge of severe depression and PTSD but I just didn't realize David would be in as bad of shape as he was. Ok, I feel like a horrible person for even saying this about a fictional former soldier but hey it is fiction. David lived in a crappy apartment. He wasn't really doing much with his life and he was just generally a little pitiful Ok,so normally I love to see guys in this position get saved by a strong female hero but in this case, David needed a lot of saving.
And then there is Maygen. Ok, I liked her. She was strong and a little quirky and she did amazing things for David's frayed sense of self. David, however, with his poor broke down self turned out to be hiding something that ultimately would be a betrayal to Maygen. Obviously she eventually forgives him and voila HEA. The betrayal wasn't enough of a plot twist. It seemed like the author tried to spice things up with a stalker plot line but even that seemed more like an after thought than a focal point of the story. In the meantime, I just felt every second of this book. There was something about the plot that just dragged. I even found many of the interactions between the characters to be very awkward and drawn out.
I think if you like a lot of emotion and the kind of agonizing hero that David is, you might like this book. For me, I think I'm just looking for something sexier and more fast paced.
Loved the name Maygen! Even more I love her character! And David? Well, talk about surprises!
A. M. Madden sets these two beautiful people in a plot of wonderful internal and external conflict and, believe me, both will make your heart syncopate! Thank you, A.M. Madden, for giving us a well-loved story line of the protector and the damsel, but adding the twists to make it the best page turner!
Love Ann Marie and this series! Another great book from her! Keep them coming!
