(I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.)

The shots came quickly, silently, and with deadly accuracy. Within seconds, three people lay dead at Central Park's ice skating rink. There's a sniper loose on the streets of New York City, and Lieutenant Eve Dallas is about to face one of the toughest and most unsettling cases of her career.
Eve knows that only a handful of people could have carried out such an audacious but professional hit. Even more disturbing: this expert in death has an accomplice. Someone is being trained in the science of killing - and they have a terrifying agenda of their own. With a city shaken to its core, Eve and her team are forced to hunt not one but two killers. Worse still - this talented young apprentice has developed an insatiable taste for murder...

I pick up the occasional book in this series. I have never found one to really rave about - they are good stories but nothing out of the box as far as I am concerned. And, with this being the 43rd in the series, I was pretty sure what I was going to get after about 50 pages...

There were a few highlights in this story but, for the most part, it was business as usual with a few completely uninteresting things thrown in just to bore the reader some more. I thought the actual plot idea was clever but we spent too much time either watching Eve and Roarke argue about stupid stuff, or talk about redecorating the bedroom or office. I mean, that is not what I want to know about.

I think what let the plot down here was the fact that it is book 43 and what hasn't already been done? At times, it felt like the author had a template and just filled in the details:

Character does this:
Takes place here:
Hero says this:

Repeat a dozen times...

There are some really great thriller / romantic suspense novelists out there who are doing some really great things. I think I will go back to them.

I really enjoyed this book. I have enjoyed all of the books in this series I have read, and I would recommend them all to others. Really great plot and continuing cast of characters.

Roarke!! There is nothing not to love about Roarke and Dallas, and each and every book I just love them even more.
