It just wasn't for me. No fault of the authors', I was trying to expand my romance reading and this just didn't do it for me.
Sorry for the delay in feedback. I'm working on clearing out my Netgalley backlog.

I came into reading Hers to Heal with such hope, I mean it was the ultimate military romance novel, but to me was terrible, the characters, flow, and plotline just wanted to make me hit my head against the wall. Unfortunately, this was a DNF from me.

I did not finish this book and therefore didn't review it. I found the characters to be a tad boring. The plot didn't hold my interest.

This was a great story. Gina and Reece’s story is about trauma, PTSD and the emotional healing of love. Piper was just a cute as could be.

A good story that begins with former Navy Seal Reece Browning at the ranch of his former CO’S. He is doing physical therapy by former Marine Gina Wilson. The biggest problem that she has with Reece is his lack of words, though he does grunt and says hi, and bye. For her she tries to ignore him but some days it is just difficult because she is trying to make it all good for her daughter Piper. Reece has more issues than just missing an arm. He is also dealing with scares on his body from being tortured, and the ones in his mind. He feels that because of those he is not worthy for anyone. He wishes he was because Gina is a beautiful woman. When he meets Piper for the first time there is an instant connection between them and she has decided that he should become her father. Gina is first surprised by her daughter and then is more shocked by how many words that Reece put together before taking a breath. She did not know he could talk so much. From there their relationship begins to change and then it gets kicks upped a notched when her toe gets stuck in the faucet of her bath tub and Piper calls Reece for help. That whole scene is funny because the kitchen is also a mess and after she fell asleep he cleaned that up as well. You begin to see both their fears and once they express them to each other you have the feeling everything will work out. Not, when Piper’s class goes to the zoo some people try to take her and the Black ops team is there and Reece ends up shot protecting Piper. Before she knows anything Gina leaves a message on his phone that is not pleasant and when she finds out what had happened she has to overcome her fears if she wants to be with the man she loves. Read this good story and see if she can fix it for her and Piper.

Reece is a wounded veteran, released from captivity, still suffering. Gina is ex military, too; suffering from her time in service for very different reasons. Frim suffering to opening yourself to others and trusting can be a lengthy or impossible process. These "warriors" are helped through the process by Gina's impetuous little girl, Piper!
Many laugh out loud, feel good moments inside this military romance; some terribly devastating moments as well. Liked this truthful balance the author brought to tell story. While the characters weren't always likeable, or at times even believable, they made good reading!
Voluntarily read ARC for honest review.

Vonnie Davis pulls at our heartstrings with this installment of Black Eagle Ops. Reece is looking for a peaceful place to escape and Gina is trying to make each day better for her daugther - both fighting to survive one day at a time - they just might find solace in each other.

On this occasion no review as it unfortunately didn't work for me.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I had hoped to. I thought the relationship between Reece and Gina just felt too easy. Come on...her little girl starts calling him Daddy and he doesn't immediately freak out? They had only just met!!!
Plus her ultimatum about the military job was just ridiculous especially considering she herself had served (granted she had a bad experience, but she should understand the duty he felt to his country). I felt she flew off the handle way too often and didn't give him the benefit of the doubt nearly enough.
Now...I loved the parts about Ashley and JJ. I can't wait for Ashley's book...I'm eager to read about how she will overcome the horror she went through and what that could possibly mean for a future with JJ.

I liked this second installment in the series. Reece was a drool worthy male lead that was just so sweet and perfect. Gina, on the other hand, was a bit much. I completely understand the depth of her own demons but sometimes she was over irrational. I'm glad the author cut down on the repeating of phrases some.

I enjoyed this book overall. It was my first exposure to Vonnie Davis and I enjoyed her writing style. The characters were unique to me. I'm always leery of children characters in romances; they're either done really well or really poorly but I think that was done well here.
There were parts of the book that felt rushed to me-it seemed very instant-gratification seeking and that's not normally my type of thing. However, it can work...I'm just not sure it did here.
I will absolutely try this author again.

Implausible story. I found myself outside of the story saying, "No it wouldn't happen like that" too many times. The point of a story is to be immersed, not thrown out into analytical thought. Everything from the way the PTSD was handled to secondary characters that just were hard to swallow.
I cannot recommend this one.

I was given a free copy for honest opinion. I loved this book. It was not just about romance. It went into more about what being a wounded warrior was about. How PTSD affects our proud men and women. I highly recommend!
