Jaci Burton does not disappoint with Rules of Contact. This is a hot romance that I couldn't put down. If you're looking for a good contemporary, look no further.

The Prefect Play, the first book in this series is one of my go-to comfort reads.. Jaci Burton is an auto-buy author for me; has been since I discovered her Wild Ride series. Amelia and Flynn both have trust issues but, the passion between is them is sizzling hot. I have never been a fan of the boss/employee troupe but, these characters made it work. I appreciated that the romance was easy-going and that the drama was kept to a minimum. Spending time with the Cassidy family is no hardship, lots of fun times.

I received a copy of this arc from NetGalley for an honest review. Jaci Burton knows how to write hot books about hot sports figures. This book is a quick and smokin read that will be enjoyed by many,.

I'm several books behind in this series, but I felt this one stood alone well. This book spoke to the foodie and football lover in me. Both Flynn and Amelia were fun. Really, this was just a trifecta of goodness. Football, food and love.

DNF....29% of the way through.

Slow, boring and poorly developed characters is the definition of this book. There was nothing to grab your attention, nothing to keep you reading and nothing to make you want to finish the book.

I really wanted to love this one. This series for the most part has been pitch perfect. Many of Burton's trademark elements are here: red-hot sex, solid leads and interesting side characters. What seemed lacking though was the development (sexual tension) in the relationship between the two leads. It almost seemed like lazy writing. Ultimately I just wasn't left rooting for their relationship.

3 stars.

It was an ok read. I didn't have to force myself through it but it just felt perfunctory, like there was a checklist that had to be worked through. Rules of Contact is the 12th book in Jaci Burton's long running "Play by Play" series and the hero, Flynn Cassidy, is the defensive end for the fictional San Francisco Sabers team and the brother of two previous protagonists. Flynn has opened a restaurant and is banking on its success as he plans to transition to restauranteur after retiring. He has put his hopes for the restaurant onto his new chef, Amelia Lawrence. Amelia is newly divorced and not looking for another commitment. She takes the job for a new opportunity and respects her new boss and his passion for the job.

Like I said, it was an ok read. The chemistry between the two characters wasn't flaming. You understood that they liked each other but there was no real driving force that propelled them together. They were there, they somewhat suited, so they entered a relationship.

I usually like Burton and the writing was definitely competent but I just didn't feel a connection to the characters.

Grade C.

I love Jaci's books, however, this one was just ok for me. I love the Play by Play series, but there was just something that was lacking for me with installment. It won't stop me from reading more in the future though. :)

Reading a long romance series will definitely have its ups and downs. There will be couples you love, couples you hate. There will be set ups that work and some that don't. You will never be 100% happy with all books in a long series, but that is what the joy of reading is about.

I started Jaci Burton's Play by Play series in 2012. Over the last 4 years I have read books 1-9. Over the last 2 months I read the final (??) 3 books, All Wound Up, Unexpected Rush, and Rules of Contact. Each book had a Cassidy sibling (Tucker, Barrett, and Flynn) and the football and baseball we ha e known and loved in this series. All three had love and romance and the ever present happily ever after. But all the did not leave me with the same feelings of joy. To be honest I was slightly disappointed in the last two books.

Basically, I really enjoyed Tucker and Aubry's story (book 10). They definitely had a natural chemistry between the two of them that sucked me in from the start. Their relationship didn't feel forced or rushed. It felt like they belonged together and that's what I love about a good romance. But Barrett and Harmony(book 11) and Flynn and Amelia (book 12) didn't have that feeling for me. Those two couples felt forced and there was no spark. I almost wish there had been build-up and pinning. I really think that's what was missing for me.

As a whole I enjoyed the series. There were so hits and some misses, but together it was just a fun sports series with love, life and romance. Book 10, All Wound Up, was my favorite of the last 3 for sure, but I would recommend checking the series out.

No surprise here. Jaci Burton delivers another sweet addition to the Play by Play series. I devoured this book in one sitting, as I usually do with her books, even when I think I need sleep. Who needs sleep really? I was beyond excited to read this one because it features a chef along with our hot athlete. I am a sucker for foodie stories and I was very excited to see this explored in this book. Although I don’t think this element was explored as much as I would’ve liked (I mean… lots of sexy time opportunities while cooking or involving food could’ve been added, just saying), RULES OF CONTACT was the perfect end of the year feel good romance.

One thing that stands out about this book (and quite a few in this series) is the lack of complicated drama. I think that’s one of the things that makes me want to read the whole thing and leaves me feeling satisfied in the end. Flynn and Amelia don’t try to make their romance too complicated. They start out with a professional relationship based on respect and that blossoms into friendship and trust. This is the foundation of the romance and I think that’s why they didn’t need to do a whole lot more than cross that small boundary.

Another thing that I always love about this series is that sense of family and the bonds of friendship. This book has a cameo appearance from the very first couple in this series (isn’t that a fun treat!!!) and it was so nice to see the ease in which they interacted with our main couple. And of course we can’t leave out the family. Flynn is the oldest of the Cassidy brothers (a few of whom we’ve already seen paired up) and I loved getting that time with family and to see how Amelia integrated to them.

Overall, this book just put a smile on my face and, as always, I can’t wait for the next one.

RULES OF CONTACT is book 12 in Jaci Burton's Play-by-Play series. This is a book that will appeal to readers who enjoy reading about romances between co-workers, as well as stories featuring sexy athletes. This is a story with no villain or circumstances acting as an obstacle to the hero and heroine finding happiness together. The conflict in RULES OF CONTACT comes from the insecurities and self-doubt of the two main characters. Happily, Jaci Burton balances out any drama while successfully telling an entertaining and sexy story with fun characters.

I love a story that gets me excited about the main characters right from the beginning, and that's exactly what RULES OF CONTACT does for me. Amelia Lawrence and Flynn Cassidy immediately strike me as two characters I want to know more about, and who seem like they'd be great together. I like a hero and heroine who have something in common that draws them together, other than a physical attraction. For Amelia and Flynn that thing they have in common is a passion for creating and working with food. Amelia inspires Flynn to take his interest to the next level and explore another side of himself. Amelia and Flynn are more complex than they seem on the surface. At the outset, it appears that Amelia has the most emotional baggage to overcome, but Flynn's exes prove to have left their mark on him in ways that are not immediately apparent. I deeply enjoyed reading about Amelia and Flynn finding each other, while they discover more things about themselves.

RULES OF CONTACT is hot and spicy with a little sweetness on the side. Jaci Burton fills RULES OF CONTACT with a cavalcade of supporting characters who add a lot of heart to the story and provide support for the main characters. Flynn's younger sister Mia is an interesting character and I hope to read more about her in a future book. Flynn's family, in general, is amazing and their acceptance of Amelia and their interactions with her add something very special to this romance. Jaci Burton never fails to create a love story that is both sensual and exciting. RULES OF CONTACT is both a sensual and exciting romance, as well as a cleverly crafted character-driven story.

This is the twelfth book in the Play by Play series and each one is a standalone and all the characters are interconnected. I have enjoyed reading all the stories in this series and the secondary characters are what make these stories so entertaining. RULES OF CONTACT has an engaging storyline and the interactions between the two main characters are fun and flirty.

Flynn Cassidy is a defensive football player for the San Francisco Sabers and the owner of Ninety -Two, a new restaurant in San Francisco. Flynn has grown up loving food and cooking and decides to open the restaurant while he is still playing football. He has a busy life trying to find time for both football and his restaurant and he has little time for anything else in this life. He doesn’t have a good track record with women. Unfortunately, he seems to gravitate toward women who are only interested in him for his fame and fortune and how it can help them. Flynn is cool and confident and he has a tight knit family that keep him humble. Flynn’s family is a big gregarious group, they love each other, but can also be interfering and love to give each other a hard time.

Amelia is the head chef for Ninety-Two. She has been divorced for a year and isn’t ready to get back into the dating game. She doesn’t trust her instincts and is afraid of getting hurt again. It is easier to let work consume her than to put herself out there in the dating world. Amelia is unhappy when she finds herself attracted to Flynn. She has been hurt before and the last thing she needs is be attracted to her boss. Amelia is strong and stands up for herself and she isn’t afraid to disagree with Flynn. She is a wonderful chef and confident in every way, until it comes to relationships. This is a fun, sweet, entertaining story with lots of passion between Amelia and Flynn. Their relationship starts slow and develops into more than either one of them anticipates. I liked Flynn and Amelia and thought they had a lot of steamy chemisty.
