oh my goodness, why did i wait so long to read this! it was such an enjoyable p&p retelling, so fresh and unique. i truly enjoyed it. but lord the epilogue ripped my heart out and stomped all over it. goodness. i do think this kind of book is an acquired taste, that's just what happens when you write retellings i guess. i really did like this and would recommend it to fans of retellings. the only thing i didn't like - besides the epilogue, sobs - were the things missing in the end, as in wickham never got his just desserts and elizabeth ended up never knowing about the first proposal. no biggie since it all worked out and elizabeth caught up in the end, but still. i think this was a great p&p retelling and i'm kicking myself i had it on my netgalley list for so long.
I loved this take on Pride and Prejudice event from a Darcy point of view. It was so fun to think about the emotions and feelings that might go along with that. Great story by Beau North!
Being a huge fan of Pride & Prejudice I have read a few spin-off titles in the past so I was interested to read this one. It started off in the traditional way with the core story but is told from the point of Darcey. The story progresses following Austen's plot to the proposal scene and then it takes a left turn that I wasn't really expecting. Mr Darcey ended up experiencing his own Groundhog Day having to relive the day of the proposal over and over again.. He tries everything to escape his version of hell - trying to leave Rosings, avoiding Elizabeth, taking drugs, playing practical jokes until he realises that the only way to escape lies in self-improvement and greater empathy and understanding of others. Will the story gt back on track and he finds his way to happiness? I have to admit I did find the middle section quite drawn out and I wondered how many of Mr Darcey's experiences we were going to witness thankfully not all of them.
This is an interesting read that does bring a different angle to the story in trying to explain Mr Darcey's change from proud and arrogant to someone worthy of Elizabeth.. An escapist read
It's an interesting concept and I find it really engaging to see the world from Darcy's pov. I love the way that the characters are portrayed and how cannon they are. The storyline allows Darcy to develop and for us to see a new side to him. It dragged a little in the middle, but otherwise rolls nicely.
